  1. To me, just the maps that show all the cache locations are worth it, and the paperless doesn't hurt (or help in your case)
  2. From what Garmin told me, any of their topographical maps should work...
  3. You may want to look at Letterboxing. Which is similar to geocaching but does not use a GPS. Letterboxes are found with a combo of clues and maybe a map and compass (it has been a while). Letterboxing doesn't always have 'treasure' (but then again neither do all geocaches) but some of the geocache/letterbox hybrids do. There are some folks out there who Geocache with only a map and compass but I'm not nearly outdoorsy enough to do that. I just thought I'd mention that what makes it a hybrid is that it uses GPS coordinates instead of clues
  4. How about if a text box appears below either the individual trackable or the whole inventory list, instead of a full window?
  5. I just attach the carabiner to my belt if I'm wearing one, or belt loop otherwise By the way, don't judge too harshly on the fact that OP hasn't responded yet, before I found out how to set it to e-mail me when something new is added, I could never find my topic
  6. People probably don't care because the rule is mainly to prevent advertising using caches.
  7. I would make it a nice house/pouch at my local LYS's K&C (with the design of your choice [within reason])
  8. Dance naked in front of my boss as I quit my job Fine print: I don't have a job or a boss
  9. If I'm thinking of putting out a geocoin, should I specify on the page that I only want it to visit multis and mystery caches? At least make them work for those steals!
  10. They're both good, what types of features do you like It's mainly personal choice, that's why they are both sold, instead of just one because the other is terrible...
  11. To me, that's cheating. Do that if you want, but will you honestly get satisfaction out of an FTF when the hider brings you out and hands you the log book? Most likely this was just done so that the hider wouldn't need to place a FTF prize...
  12. If you want to defeat her, start a "destroy the psycho" mega event
  13. That looks good! I doubt they get much more portable, do they? I'm currently overloading my carabiner with my GPS, a pen for BYOPs, and now a little doggie bag dispenser based on BlueDeuce's suggestion of plastic bags in a film canister. I'm probably all set now unless somebody can tell me of a stick/weed puller/little claw that I could attach to my carabiner...
  14. He may not have remembered doing it, but if it doesn't know where you are, it can't tell you how far away something is. If you go to your profile, you will have an option to "enter home coordinates". Otherwise, you can use google maps for driving directions.
  15. Also, Narcissa, are you TRYING to get a mod to kick you out? Because I find it easy to believe that if you keep pestering them...
  16. Here's how to make me happy with Waymarking: at least give the option to download them in a format where I can see them along with my geocaches on my GPS. At the moment they are waypoints.
  17. If I just got off 9,999 caches, logging them would be the last thing on my mind (tied with everything else but sleep)
  18. The most important thing for FTFs: the ability to teleport (which would be an amazing GPS feature)
  19. So that's your model? I'm using a Garmin Oregon 450, and here is how I do it on mine (with windows): Copy the files Select computer -> Garmin Oregon 450 -> [i forget the name of this file but it's the first one, NOT the second] Paste files anywhere
  20. You can make a pocket query if you're a member, or you can download the way you mentioned (to your computer) then copy and paste the file to your GPS via computer -> [insert GPS name here] (at least on my computer)
  21. AFTER the rebate? That was how much mine was with tax and shipping. Did you get 450t or 550? I would say get the Oregon if you like touchscreen controls, and something else if you don't. You probably WON'T want to get the 450t unless turn-by-turn directions are important to you, as you would be paying 100$ more for a silver instead of bronze trim, and cooler maps that can give you directions. (I personally just use the google maps to find my way, and print out.
  22. Geocachers are now officially a new race of people, with their own culture, and now their own horror stories... Must be a nice life if one of the scariest parts of geocaching is finding that somebody put your travel bugs number in a picture... Also, I think that there should be a system, and I don't know where to draw the line, but if you have 15 caches found on your account and 1600 travel bugs logged, then you should be kicked out, but if, on your first cache when you don't know you're not supposed to, you take 2 TBs.....
  23. I never log a find if I didn't find it, but sometimes when I find it it's because my teammate found it a few seconds ago. Would I force other people to follow these same rules? Probably if I did then I would force my friend to go geocaching even if he hated it, and force other sides of other issues at other people. This may not be a popularity contest, but how would you feel if your log was deleted because the owner was a jerk? It's fine if you mention that "the view is amazing, I want you to see it, so I'm going to delete caches if you don't actually go up this cliff". But even that...
  24. Nice tips so far. I think I know what to get for bags now, but does anybody have any ideas for the poky sticks, as the trash is dirty enough that it's either that or hand sanitizer (which is generally going against the whole eco-friendly aspect of CITO) and if I do very much, then spending $20 on a stick will be cheaper than all the hand sanitizer I'd need.
