  1. if the cache was placed with permission, go to the police, because this is technically stealing (somebody in Washington, US or somewhere like that actually got imprisoned for it) and should be treated as such. However, if this was placed without permission, or there is a law against geocaches in your area, etc. then maybe they have a point and you shouldn't mention it to the police. Hope to see them kicked off of the geocaching site.

    GSAK

why don't you just google GSAK site:forums.Groundspeak.com that will give all google search results from the Groundspeak forums
  3. OK, I've done a quick google search, I've found 2 free topo maps... Neither of the links worked on my computer. I used ibycus and geobase, and neither of them would show the proper download page. I am using a Garmin Oregon 450, would like free topo maps for canada, am using google chrome... Is there any more information that people need P.S. If people want to ask then yes, I am just being greedy. But if you expect me to pay $120 + tax for something I could be getting a slightly worse version of for free.....
  4. I wait for inspiration to strike, whether it's from another cache, an epiphany, or seeing something cool in a store, and then I leave the idea in my head for a while, making small tweaks, and then I make something good (note: I have not yet made a cache. This is my method for creating many other amazing things though)
  5. http://www.geocaching.com/faq/default.aspx Look under this section: What should not be placed in a cache? People of all ages hide and seek caches, so think carefully before placing an item into a cache. Explosives, ammunition, knives, drugs and alcohol should not be placed in a cache. Respect the local laws. Food items are always a bad idea. Animals have better noses than humans, and in some cases caches have been chewed through and destroyed because of food items in a cache. Please do not put food in a cache. Edited to snip quote
  6. Where are you? Because I've found about 5 places with good prices but if they aren't in your country you have to pay more shipping, and maybe you'd rather spend that extra $10 to get it from somewhere that can get it to you in one day as opposed to a month.....
  7. I've only ever tried the 3 free ones, and neither of them particularly jumped out at me... good luck finding working ones.
  8. If even the condom can explode I'm even more worried about the poor kid who finds this cache!
  9. You can make the second one a puzzle cache that you must have completed all 1 of the other caches in the series before you can chase! If you do this don't forget to post a link to the second one in the cache page for the first
  10. If you have a GPS you can go paperless with then definetely! With a free membership you can't see cache details on your GPS
  11. A mod should probably move this to the location specific forums. Good idea, but in this section of the forums you'll get just as many people, but from more places.
  12. Have you reported this person to Groundspeak yet to make them aware for if (s)he tries again? I found it kind of interesting that you were so afraid of the ammo because it's a family friendly game, but only cared about the condom enough to mention it
  13. I'm fine with micros except for 2 things: 1) most of the caches are micros where I am 2) when the first option is true, just try dropping off a TB, just try... You'll check. Hmmm should I go to that cache? Micro... That one? (I'm hoping you've caught on to the idea and I don't have to repeat 20 more times like I actually did...
  14. I was planning on chopping a rock in two, hollowing it out, and hiding it in a rocky place... As soon as I find a way to do it safely
  15. Now I've got a great idea, I shall start a business with an ATM outside, and add a screw lid on the back and a "down for repairs" sign on it!
  16. The ONLY HTML codes that aren't too annoying on a GPS are such as bold, italic, and other minor font changes that only take up a few letters of space. The most annoying code I've experienced was something that you wouldn't think was so bad looking at the cache page: they'd had links to their 10 or so other caches in the same series. They'd had a long tag for the link information, then the name of the cache, then the basic ending. It was a nightmare to get to the actual description...
  17. My 2 cents: why not simply have the zone where they meet the challenge start at the same coordinates as point B, but extend far enough out so that it happens before the player enters point B. By doing this no matter what direction they enter from, they will get a challenge, and if the one you had in mind was location specific then have that one as well and have the player only need to do one challenge. The down side would be if they drove by to the zone, they might not be able to do the challenge while driving Not sure if this is making any sense, but wanted to get my opinion out there.
  18. I shout from the backseat "turn left in at the next intersection!" as I stare at the gpx page on my GPS
  19. Moderators: fountains of knowledge, can pull up any data in as much or as little detail needed. Thank you!
  20. too few people follow these rules anywhere.
  21. I am from the K-W region as well, and though I have never been to any of the events, I have met two other local cachers, both from my homeschooling group
  22. OK... I think I'm understanding now, I didn't know there was also a language called lua, I thought it was just the file extension
  23. add one more to your list of satisfied customers! unfortunately, I had a few problems: Garmin told me to place the file in my custom maps folder... and there wasn't one! the lines are such a light color that I can barely see them over my basemap (which is a creamy color if that helps)
  24. The first thought that came to my head: You must be a very intuitive cache hider! I would love to visit one of your caches... But they're far away and partially stolen
  25. OK... I think I get it. But is there a way that's just one language? (I'm picky!)
