  1. I actually sold my Delorme PN40, after using my iPhone 4 for awhile for geocaching. I'm quite happy with it. This is my experience for my expectations. PQ's are great using the iPhone. Log and send from the app...
  2. Holy thread resurrection batman. Although, this helps me for another venture...
  3. Awesome. Info much appreciated. I'll check them out.
  4. Ok, I see your point. they'll have flashlights, so back light isn't a must. Those garmin etrex...are those something that would work for something simple? Perhaps I could set waypoints prior, in a list and they have to find the right one??? Those seem to be in the price range. Ya, all models would be the same. Teens will argue over anything. One less thing to worry about, right?
  5. So, I am going to be looking to purchase about 3-4 GPS units for a youth camp in a few months. I am needing some advice on what to look for. I'm on a budget and not looking to spend more than $100 per unit (if possible). If spening more, I'd drop that number to 2 units... They need to be able to inputs coordinates on the go or select from list (no computer required). First option is better for activity... Semi water proof (more like rain possibly) Backlight screen This is for a youth summer camp geocache/scavenger hunt, so if you've been involved in one and have used a gps during, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
  6. I recently was caching in Israel. Most of them had foreign coins in them. Euros, Dollars, Shekels, Czech, et... I think it's cool to find foreign, but I actually have not come across money in US caches yet. Yes, go buy that slur pee, I say...
  7. Yep, I see nothing has changed since the last time I posted on this topic...
  8. Nah, just log another set of gps location. List the two as a set. Someone else can help you find it.
  9. I feel as if I'm watching a reality show where they choose a side, for whatever reason and fight...over what again? So you don't like some words on a website. So it isn't the way you'd do it. So what other people have found more caches. Insert whatever you don't like/difference of opinion, etc... Are the intentions of what is being done, meant well? Did the website directly affect you, your family, your immediate safety? There are sooooo many websites out their, that I'd rather slap the snot out of the owner, but it's their money spent. I say out loud "what an idiot" and press the red x button. (this isn't one of those sites, I'm just saying). Get over it or create your own website.
  10. Yes, Surefires are a winner. Mine goes with me everywhere.
  11. So, not sure why the file only showed 2 yesterday. Today, all 100 were there. I'm using the iPhone and the official app. Thanks for all your input. Happy caching!
  12. Yes, just signed up this morning. Ya, two inputs as in 2 caches out of 100. I have another PQ that I created and it gives all 100 (separate search). So, I'm not sure what's up...maybe I'll just ignore it until the morning. If nothing changes, I'll look into contacting an admin
  13. So, I created a PQ for caches nearby my home. I submitted and it said it returned 100 caches (my wanted return). I go to PQ available for download and it states that their are only 2 inputs to view. Same thing when I view on my iPhone app. However, when I preview...all 100 are there. Am I missing something?
  14. Always with my wife. Unless, traveling for work doesn't permit us to be together. We take our daughter in one of those comfy toddler trailers, that attach to a bike. Gets us all outdoors.
  15. maybe it was just the local lamp post safety inspector Haha, maybe so...
  16. I know, probably nothing new...but I was headed to pick up dinner and saw a geocacher out and about. I knew one was in the area, but I didn't stop to chat...I was hungry. Just sharing. Sometimes it's just as cool to see others doing this, as well. Sure enough, I checked and it was logged today.
  17. Awesome, thanks all. I've signed up on the address book, so we'll see what happens. Maybe I'll be on the receivng end one day. Or, I'll be fortunate enough to acquire one to give away as a gift. Yes, "but" was meant to read "buy".
  18. Nice! Thanks all. I don't get activating before a "show/event/start a history" aspect. Are you giving them away and track them as "traded"? Or, are they only trackable through events, meaning...you met the original owner? I've asked to be invited to the mailing list. Yikes!
  19. I'd like an invite please! Thanks!
  20. Ok, I can't figure out some things after spending a great deal of time sorting through this forum. 1.) Do people but coins just to collect (like people collect, say star wars figures)? 2.) Are they ever activated and used...ever? 3.) I've seen a thread where someone says "I received a letter from myself", in which they got a coin in the mail. What does that mean? 4.) Are "active" coins that are found in caches, ever part of these lists? Thanks for reading. I just have no idea what is going on here and have questions. Thanks, Matt
  21. Absolutely! That's a feature I had to have. USB sends it from this site to the unit...good to go. Screen shots from Delorme http://blog.delorme....the-mac-and-pc/ Reviews on this site that talk about paperless. I haven't had any negative issues...out caching or on my chair learning the unit http://www.geocachin...earthmate-pn-40
