  1. People find geocaches for their own personal fun. As long as they leave a good log i don't see much of a problem. cachers should be more aware tho. Like if theres security guards or camping sites close
  2. usually takes a long time to get a story like that, nicely done lol
  3. I just finished making a nice one. 6 roomed birdhouse, one of the ones on a pole. Has a secret floor in one and will lower down with a pulley system that is ran threw the pole to a crank at the bottom. The house is complete just have to find the proper area where i can place a pole in the ground. Not sure on how im going to set up a hidden crank at the bottom of the pole. Possibly a small birdhouse or something. Put around 14 hours of work into it and it will provide homes to 5 birds, and 1 peanut butter jar geocache
  4. Not sure someone would put weed in a bucket you can see a mile away lol
  5. driving is good for the numbers and getin to the locations, but hiking and biking is one of the funnest aspects of geocaching, for me the main ones
  6. I've made one myself and came across 3 more here in central arkansas. Mines the only one that a bird can still live in the others have the inside occupied by the container, mines at the bottom in a trap door, The front side has the geocaching symbol wood burned into it. Quite nice
  7. The whole point of a premium membership is extra features. I've yet to get mine but i am excited by the fact that there will maybe be a few more in my area. You wont find many premium memberships that dont offer extras thats the whole point. Sounds like your complaining for the sake of complaining, get over it
  8. hook a magnet o the nano then cut inch long pieces of small pipe, like the stuff used in fish tanks. Glue them all together in the shape of a wasp nest, paint the nest gray or as close to a real one as possible and it'll make a nice little cache and not a crazy small nano
  9. People should think before hiding caches in places like that. It's ignorance and obviously destroys the rep. for the entire sport, come on now people we're better than this
  10. I've had the same problem with like 3... i disabled the ones im positive are under water but not the ones i think are just unreachable. Your best bet is to disable it until ur sure that its ok.
  11. they should be happy you've found something constructive to do with ur time instead of vandalizing things and what not. Dont give up the game
  12. we were going get a few caches out in the national forest here in arkansas. It was dark and we were heading up a steep hill when we stopped so my buddy could adjust his gear. My other friend was shining a light ahead and we saw these eyes up ahead pacing back and forth. We were pretty positive it was a mountain lion so we rolled out.
  13. Just assuming you have the terrain on your land, the container could be a fake squirrel nest up in a tree. That would be actually pretty easy to make and the fact that climbing the tree would give you your terrain. That sounds like a awesome idea i may just make one myself. All you really need would be some fake leaves around something molded in the shape of a nest, that fits in the spot of a tree that forks out to branches ( typical squirrel nest spot). Just have a lid on it, that opens up, with a peanut butter jar, Or places the leaves around a large bowl lock and lock that would be the right shape. This should be large enough to consider a Large cache id say. Id recommend a large cedar tree they have alot of branches and would be much harder to spot and a lot safer to climb. Hope this helps
  14. The Black Mamba!!!! Looks like they've relocated to the US. Brace yourselves
  15. A mad dash back to the vehicle is always fun. It just depends on the situation if they look like outdoorsy types ill explain the game but if its dark i rather just avoid confrontation if possible. Never had a face to face encounter at night tho
  16. This literally made me laugh out loud hahaha ... i cant just picture old greasy fishermen with dirty grins laughing their villain laughs... classic
  17. More times then i can count... When you have an addiction the mind will do anything to compensate and get you your fix
  18. I think I know that cache. Met a goal of mine there. Very nice cache btw. Quite the coincidence haha this ring a bell ? "This is the biggie for me. Hobbit and I have been chasing caches that fit our 81 D/T matrix for a while now. I wanted to get this done on my 810th find. Kind of symetrical. This was the closet 4.5/5 from Tulsa." Enjoyed the log entry thanks alot
  19. Placing a cache in one of these spots allows unknowing people the opportunity to come pay their respects. Giving life to the people memorialized and what they accomplished. No problem at all in my eyes and most people im sure
  20. Louisiana would be nice if the mosquito's and ants don't kill you
  21. I agree both have pro's and con's. I really don't care how cold it is, but rain or snow put a damper on trips. I prefer the cold just because of the lack of plant life. I rather the warm just for the comfort. I think what frustrates me the most are the leaves on the ground. I always assume the cache is under them if I'm not able to find it, bad habbit but i hate digging through them haha. I'm at a stand still tho you can see so much more when the trees and plants havnt got their leaves yet, however the feel of a hike on a warm summer day is hard to match. So I call a tie 50/50 ...1 to 1 ... mono e mono
  22. I have a hornets nest hidden of the slanted side of a huge bluff.. It's about 15 feet up in a tree and you have to lower it by the rope thats hung over a branch and connected at the base of the tree. I made it by rapping a rope around a frame and the containers a peanut butter jar thats at the top. I'd provide a pick if i was able to get the forums to allow me to do so...such a pain
  23. I'd pull the caches just for the safety of fellow cachers. Even though the women should still deserves to be hassled by the cops for here foolish actions. I don't understand why people are like that. They have nothing better to do in their lives then threatened and treat others poorly. She must be a very unhappy person, but you cant sympathize for ignorant people I know I dont
