  1. A 3 ML Syringe tube will remain water tight for years. Cut the end off that the needle screws in and shorten the shaft to about an inch n a half. Really perfect for custom designs, such as a fake bolt or behind a reflector. To get the best seal you ideally need another sealing ring for another syringe, but you could fill the bottom with super glue and that would do the trick.
  2. Yes Hugh Jackman is so awesome that he also geocaches. http://www.notaboutthenumbers.com/2014/04/24/geocachings-new-celebrity-x-man/
  3. The horse was confirmed dead on the scene. Everyone can stop beating it now!
  4. Sony Cyber-shot Got it for 10 bucks from an auction. Cleared the memory card and it hadn't been used since 2007. Pretty great picture quality for the price. It's small and durable. 7.2 pixels. My public profile picture was taken with it in a cave if your interested and want to see its performance.
  5. A lot of the poles already have micro sized holes in them. Just find a container that fits accordingly
  6. constructive fun with friends but still kinda feels like ur going under the radar to give people that adrenaline rush
  7. This summer was definitely full of black widows, I counted 6 with like 4-5 geo trips
  8. When I attempt to explain the gave to people I begin with, " It's like a year round scavenger hunt". They always ask the same thing. What do you get for finding them . That's when you lose the ones that don't really have interest in it. " So why do you find them" they ask. I always reply the same, "because it's fun and addictive...trust me it's a lot funner then it sounds"
  9. Cedar trees are my favorite to find caches in. There just fun to search through and the trunks are usually pretty unique.
  10. The funniest logs i've come across is this user called piratelords. I figure it's a group of friends. Anyways all their logs are written with pirate lingo and it is hilarious lol. Sadly they havn't gotten any of mine but i look to read their logs when I cache in the area
  11. I heard about this listening to the radio this morning. Just can't imagine it happening to me and really makes me want to be more prepared. Heres the article. Cut and pasted from a news site. Caution it's pretty disturbing. Frantic final phone calls of woman, 19, eaten alive by brown bear and its three cubs A distraught mother listened on a mobile phone as her teenage daughter was eaten alive by a brown bear and its three cubs. Olga Moskalyova, 19, gave an horrific hour-long running commentary on her own death in three separate calls as the wild animals mauled her. she screamed: 'Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it’s such agony. Mum, help!'Her mother Tatiana said that at first she thought she was joking. But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga’s voice, and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing,' she added. 'I could have died then and there from shock.'Unknown to Tatiana, the bear had already killed her husband Igor Tsyganenkov - Olga’s stepfather - by overpowering him, breaking his neck and smashing his skull.Olga, a trainee psychologist, saw the attack on her stepfather in tall grass and reeds by a river in Russia and fled for 70 yards before the mother bear grabbed her leg. As the creature toyed with her, she managed to call Tatiana several times during the prolonged attack.Tatiana rang her husband - not knowing he was already dead - but got no answer. She alerted the police and relatives in the village of Termalniy, near Petropavlovsk Kamchatskiy, in the extreme east of Siberia. She begged them to rush to the river where the pair had gone to retrieve a fishing rod that Igor had left. In a second call, a weak Olga gasped: 'Mum, the bears are back. She came back and brought her three babies. They’re... eating me.' Finally, in her last call - almost an hour after the first - Olga sensed she was on the verge of death. With the bears having apparently left her to die, she said: 'Mum, it’s not hurting any more. I don’t feel the pain. Forgive me for everything, I love you so much.'The call cut off and that was the last Tatiana heard from her daughter. Half an hour later, Igor’s brother Andrei arrived with police to find the mother bear still devouring his body. Badly mauled Olga was also dead. Six hunters were sent in by the emergency services to kill the mother bear and her three cubs. The double killing is the latest in a spate of bear attacks across Russia, as the hungry animals seek food in areas where people have encroached and settled on their former habitat.A weeping Tatiana said that Olga had everything to look forward to, and was happy with her life and boyfriend Stepan. My daughter was such fun. She was so cheerful, friendly, and warm,' said Tatiana. She had graduated from music school, and just days before the bear attack she got her driving license.' husband and daughter are due to be buried today. 12. The one thing that gets me is the failure to maintain caches and to not archive them. I've recently started using the "Needs Archived" lifeline for those caches that are MIA and the owners been offline for over a year ( these are caches I've been to personally). Also their is one veteran cacher near here who has refused to be active enough to check on his caches that have many DNF's and needs maintenance logs HOWEVER he can go and get a FTF on a new cache listing in the same area as all his caches. Just not good for a seasoned cacher. On the other note it's good to encourage the new cachers, most will learn from their mistakes and the others will fall off. Natural selection lol , but there's always the concern they'll drop the game.
  13. nice Really get every ones panties up in the air and paint a nuke sign on it. (rats!! image wont stick.. ) It wasn't no atom bomb.... Turns out, some skateboarder slapped a biohazard sticker On the side of this septic tank....cops knew it wasn't a bomb right away....It's just an old crapper tank, people. Just had to quote Joe Dirt on this one
  14. Coffee and geocaching.. is there a better combo? I think not
  15. You can do a lot if you have a wood burner. I use it to put the geo symbol in birdhouse caches and things like that. Would be good to have a wood strips with the coords on them and if burned deep would last the test of time rather well. Plus wood burning is pretty fun lol
  16. I have a 3 series of caches based on lord of the rings. At the front of each one It says "Trilogy-" So like one is called trilogy-mount doom. If they all have that one word in common then go for it . It seems cool and it will hopefully inspire people to hit up every one of those caches that tie together. Which means more logs to read
  17. Awesome battery carrier on there , i need me one of those
  18. It's usually easy for anyone who likes outdoors. Most people are so fascinated that there's hidden containers in all the places they pass daily that they'll at least give it a try.
  19. Seems you could have stopped reading at any point to avoid the issue. Not that there is one here.
  20. The container I like to use that i've never seen anyone else use is a syringe. You can grind down the end intended for the needle and melt the plastic to eliminate the hole, or sometimes I just take the rubber seal off an extra syringe and push it down to the end of the tube. Then you can cut it to your preference and cut the stem of the seal short and you have a perfect container, that will not leak. Very ideal for crafty nano hides I must say
  21. I'd say just save all the info and submit them in one day however. The problem with that is that you may get watered down with all those caches that your caches may not be as energetic and interesting as you hope to make them. It's kind of like logging all your find caches on a trip at one time. Your not meaning to short change but you are nonetheless. At least take breaks in between a few.
  22. Really? So even though it is fairly clear that they 'found' the cache due to the evidence of their piece of paper being in the cache you would delete their online 'found' log? Thankfully that extreme interpretation of the guidelines is rare in this area. Has your position on this ever been challenged by an appeal to Groundspeak? Seems the idea behind his cache is finding the actual log within the container, of course that detail should be included in the description of that geocache so people are aware that you must find the log. If they are no aware that they should be searching for a hidden log then that would not be right I agree
