  1. I apologize as I’m sure this has come up before, but I don’t read the forums that often. I find it annoying that people don’t move travel bugs every time. I found one today that was started in November of 2018, discovered many times, yet it did not TRAVEL at all. A couple of mine have just died in the Discovery zone. I’m pushing for a ban on Discoveries, unless you are with a group of cachers. But then one of the group must move it along. Thoughts? ?‍♂️?
  2. Thanks. By "weak", I meant in words of the manufacturer's product description.
  3. The eTrex 30 states, "The eTrex 30x can also be connected wirelessly to other GPS or sensors that are so enabled. This is great for sharing waypoints, routes and tracks with hiking partners and also pairing a cardiac strap or foot pedal." That sounds weak...I have no need to connect to other GPS. But if it has wireless capability, why not use it to download caches?? And , hence, why I posted the question. I was hoping you'd tell me the 30 would do the job!! Thanks for the replies.
  4. I am looking for a good GPS that I can download caches wirelessly to. Its interesting that this feature is not clearly described in the manufacturer's descriptions. I've been caching for years, and was and have been happy with my Magellan Meridian. I transitioned to using my iPhone most of the time, but don't like getting stuck when I'm away from cell service. Can you easily download caches wirelessly to to Garmin eTrex 20 and 30 units? I'm looking to stay in the sub $200 range.
  5. What does the "add a waypoint to the log" feature do? Its a check off box on the page where you post a new log.
  6. I just bought a Meridian Gold at The Sports Authority in Braintree, Mass. on 12/28 for $149.00! I had just returned the eXplorist 200 that I bought myself for Christmas to Best Buy ($136.00). I was going to shop around more, but when I saw the $149 price I jumped on it. They had one more left. I'm still not convinced on the Gold. I want the smallest unit possible, with good capability to download good maps. especially one that shows rivers. I realized that although I bought A GPS for geocaching, it will come in handy for kayaking, as well as navigating highways. But I like the size of the Garmin eTrex legend. How did you decide on the Gold?
