  1. So with all of the talk about the 8/20/11 souvenir I been watching my souvenir tab to see when it would pop up. That's when I realized I never received the one for the 10/10/10 event. Does anyone know who I should contact to see that I do get this one.
  2. Not supper warm in November, but Myrtle Beach SC has tons of great caches! They even have several very fun and challenging mystery caches.
  3. You've got to love how he attacks the quality of Ohio caches after only visiting a small part of the state! Based on this guy's comments and behavior, is it any wonder he is alone in all of his caching photos, lol. I would delete his drop post without a second thought.
  4. Not sure where you all are geocaching, but in many areas it is illegal to be in a cemetery after dark. You can receive some nasty fines if caught.
  5. There was a great TB safe house near me that was disguised as a bird house in the woods near a Sam's club. The birdhouse had a lock on it to keep muggles out with the key hidden near the cache. Apparently some muggle was very curious about a birdhouse with a lock. They took a cinder block that the CO placed at the base of the post to help short cachers reach the birdhouse and smashed the side with the lock. TBs were lost and a great cache was destroyed.
  6. Its not like the first film was any good either, lol. The only good ape films are the originals. Remakes suck, be original! Additionally Tim Burton is a no talent one trick pony! The ending of his makes no sense what so ever. Not to mention he totally missed the entire underlying plot of the series. I was never about lets get the balls to fight the apes. The movies were about the civil rights movement, so much so that the forth one had to have its ending changed because the studio feared it may encourage violence.
  7. If your in the city, smoking works real well as everyone has to leave the buildings these days to light up, lol!
  8. I have the same issue from time to time with the app on my Casio Brigade. I have found that if you turn the app on while on your way to the cache and place it on the dashboard of your car it will get a signal in under a minute every time.
  9. As a bow hunter and a cacher I can tell you right now if I ever found a cache hidden in such a stupid place I would destroy the thing when I retrieved my arrows! I don't care the president himself gave you permission, YOU NEVER HIDE THINGS ON A TARGET! Yes us bow hunters check the area where we shoot before we let that string go but that does not make it OK for you to encourage fellow idiots to be messing around a target!
  10. Had a similar problem with a local nutter around me. My solution was from now on I find a wet log I photo graph it with my signature item and post the photo with the log. This proves both that you found the cache and the condition of the log.
  11. and if you do for the love of God don't be a tease and leave the hookah behind too Hookahs are for tobacco use, bongs are for drugs. Just thought I'd clear that one up, lol.
  12. I just placed a night cache with a Scooby Doo theme in an overgrown abandoned campground located on the shores of Berlin Lake.
  13. So does FTF get to keep the camera or not?
  14. BEN'S 100 BUG SPRAY! Nothing will come near you with this stuff. I've also found that it's high DEET percentage also repels Canadians. Not always a bad thing, lol.
  15. Jeepers, I keep forgetting to bring my toothpick.... As I mentioned a twig will also work in a pinch. I always try to bring a pen but I also make sure I always have a lighter on me because you never know when it may come in handy.
  16. You should always carry a lighter with you. In a pinch I have burned the end of a tooth pick or stick to use as a pencil. Not the best writing tool but it will work in a pinch.
  17. Hi Joshism, 1) Yes, permission is often not obtained. 2) I am going to refer you to an expert - http://johnnygeo-blog.blogspot.com/. In short - caches near electricity or that resemble electrical outlets/fuse boxes etc are a BAD idea. Wow just read that guy's blog. Not sure how he finds the courage to get out of bed in the morning seeing as how dangerous the world is to him, lol. If a kid reaches into an exposed electrical box, well that is just natural selection at work.
  18. I just use the folding knife I wear on my belt. Good knife helps out often when caching.
  19. I've seen several old mason jars with a layer of camo duct tape on them here in Ohio. They have held up for several years without any issues. I even dropped one on the road and all it did was bounce. Maybe the camo tape makes them safer who knows.
  20. that is a driving GPS, what model is it? they don't all seem to work for geocaching I used a TomTom car GPS for my first year and it worked fine. All I had to do was enter the coordinates and then select walking route. Only problem I ever had was it tended to want to place my location on the road if I was within 10' to 12' of a road.
  21. What you need to get is a bottle or two of Ben's 100! You can find it at REI. When you wear this stuff nothing will bite you. I've been using this stuff for years on fishing trips. I also used this during my two summers of archeological field work in Central America and not one bite.
  22. The one ammo can I have used is now chained to a tree root to prevent theft, muggling, and acts of nature.
  23. As a Mason, I would be interested in purchasing one of your coins. That is of course if you have gotten the proper permission to create this coin. If you have not gotten permission I would highly recommend you do so before beginning production. It shouldn't be a big deal as many Masons geocache.
  24. I have left dollar coins, geocaching lanyards, and a nice back packing compass. FTF prizes I have found have included a small smiley face trophy and a Masonic belt buckle that was placed in a mystery cache that required you to be a Mason to solve the puzzle.
