  1. Just loaded it on my 450, sure like how fast and easy the upgrade was. Going to check out in the field this afternoon.
  2. I have recently purchased the Birdseye imagery for my Oregon 450. So far so good. I have downloaded most of the areas close to my home as "high quality resolultion". I thought the middle grade would be ok, although the file size in considerably larger than "standard resolution". I have found that it takes some time when moving the map or zooming out to rewrite the map. Is this normal? Should I redownload everything in standard quality? Is there a big difference between standard and high quality? Thanx
  3. Just a note. I bought my 450 from amazon and sent in the rebate form. Then I read this thread and thought for sure I wasn't going to receive the rebate. Good news. I just got my rebate check in the mail. :-)

  5. It is really easy. On the cache description page just scroll down to "post a log/field note" and then "select log type" as found. Fill in the message and "submit to geocaching.com"
  6. Ahh SHOOT! Dam I guess I did jump the gun, frick! Thanx for the info
  7. For any number of reasons, the 450 is to be preferred to the 300 - not just for the added features, but for the readability of the screen. Make no mistake about it - there are retailers that still have a few 300's around at less than the price of the 450, too, but the difference for the 450 is well worth it. It is, as you gathered, a superset of the 300, and lacks nothing that a 300 offers. Also - be aware that apart from Amazon (and many eBay auctions), there's currently a $50 rebate on 450s and the rest of the Oregon/Dakota line directly from Garmin. It's a good time to buy. "(Offer is valid for purchases made between April 1, 2010 and June 20, 2010. Postmark deadline is July 20, 2010.)" http://garmin.blogs.com/promotions/2010/03...bate-offer.html Also note that you may not wish to spend the additional $ for the 450T model since there are quite a number of resources for good, free maps for the 450. Well I must admit I am bummered! I didn't know that the 50$ rebate WASN'T available when bought from Amazon. It doesn't say it anywhere on the rebate form. It just says "bought in new condition" , and I bought it direct from Amazon and not resellers. I have sent in my rebate form with my fingers crossed. Where did you read about the rebate not available form Amazon? Thanks
  8. Yes. Right now I have 2500 caches and 1000 waypoints loaded on my 450. OK so the 450 can hold 5000 caches. That sounds great but where did you get the info? It doesn't appear to be on garmins website. Also what happens when you put on more than 5000? Or what happens if 2 PQ over lap certain caches? Are they listed twice? Thanx for all the help guys, you are all a wealth of knowledge.
  9. hallelujah! by George I did it. Thanks When I opened up the geocaching on gps there was the list of geocaches is there a way of selecting the name I gave the pocket query? so when i name other pocket queries I can select the query i want to look at? Each GPX file should have the same name as the PQ name you made...the default on GC.com is New Query, but you can edit that to, for example 'Home' or your ZIP Code or whatever you want. You can have up to 200 GPX files containing up to 5000 total caches on the unit. Once you put them in the Garmin/GPX folder, they all come up together on your Oregon. What most people do is set their PQ's to only deliver unfound caches, then they delete the old ones when a new PQ of the same name comes in. That way you always have a fresh selection of unfound caches. I am confused, according to Garmins website you can only have 2000 waypoints on the 450 https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145...=63349#specsTab Are waypoints different than geocaches?
  10. Hmm it seems to be fixed now. Thanx for all the help. Still no response from geocaching.com. Let's hope it is permanent.
  11. Thank you I already sent them a contact form, but seriously I am a little impatient ;-) I was hoping to take my father in law and my kids caching tomorrow and now I can't create the PQ i wanted to. I was reading on a another post on the forum that with the purchase of my Oregon 450 GPS i was entitled to a 30day trail membership so I tried to activate that and it still won't give me a premium membership
  12. NO I only have one account and yah I have already sent geocaching.com a contact form, but I wanted to go caching tomorrow and now I can't download a PQ, grrr.
  13. sorry for the multiple posts but, if my payment was rejected for whatever reason, wouldn't you think that geocahing.com would let me know? Somehow? email? or something?
  14. just a note, if i look on my "description" on the left side of the screen in the forums it says: group: premium members I know that the forums and site are different but....still kinda strange
  15. hmm srange, my payment seemed to go through just fine the other night. And no it isn;t the first time I have downloaded PQ, I grabbed a couple last night and the night before. If the payment didn't go through you would think it would have kicked it back much sooner.
  16. I just upgraded to a premium member on April 28, 2010 and I went to download a PQ for tomorrow and it said I needed to upgrade my membership??? What happened? Where did my 30$ go? Has this happened to anyone else?
  17. My inlaws just bought there first smart phone. I know they would live geocaching just wondering if there is an app for it on the Samsung a885? Thanx
