  1. In this case, the OP didn't have much choice. It came on the laptop he just bought, and there are no compatible drivers for such an old piece of hardware. To the OP: Can you run GSAK or whatever you're using to connect to the Palm in XP Mode? I have always downloaded to my 60csx from GSAK and then sent it to Cachemate which put it on the Palm. I have only had that Palm for 2-3 years as I drove over my last one so it wasn't exactly an old piece of hardware. Can you somehow change the Win 7 to run in XP mode. I have been suggested to get a Garman nuvi and download to the POI on it and to use that. I hope that it is 64-bit compatible if I do that. All this to save trees ( and time )
  2. I do not find a memory card. Also it is a 64-bit windows 7 I would try virtualbox but it looks to be beyond my computer skills. What else is out there
  3. Agreed, but do the Vista 32 bit drivers work with 32 bit windows 7? Yep, they do. If you think of Windows 7 as "Vista SP3" you've pretty much got it cased. ...ken... I have the 64 bit. I see that Palm does not plan on adding the necessary driver. I like cache mate on the Palm and want to stay wireless. Even getting a newer Palm doesn't seem to be an option. Any Ideas?

  6. I had finally gotten used to using my Palm z 22 for paperless caching. My laptop broke while on vacation and I purchased a new one. I wanted to load a PQ using cachmante. GSAK loaded fine but I could not get my Palm stuff on the laptop. I contacted Palm and the guy told me that Palm z 22 is not compatable with windows 7 as it is a 64 -bit OS and the Palm is a 32-bit OS Can anybody help me on this problem as I want to stay paperless and do like using the Palm with my 60csx Thanks
  7. J-Way, I like that Idea but I do not know how to see the caches. I got Google Earth, but how does that show caches? Thanks
  8. I'm interested if there is a way to filter out rest area stops along a route, Like from Ohio to Florida. Perhaps someone has the locations of those with caches so that some lazy butt like me can get a cache in eache of the States along the way, without going and taking a look at all of them along the way to see if they might be at a rest area. any thoughts on this? 9. Thanks, I'll wait and hope it doesn't mess up the caching on the trip grouchymedic
  10. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off". <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration> Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/> </system.web> </configuration>
  11. I am on vacation in Florida. All of a sudden I can't get into the cache pages. A fancy computer lingo page comes up saying that I'm not on a secure computer. I'm on my laptop and it worked yesterday. Nothing else has changed. I am on a wireless connection but I was yesterday also. Now I can't get to any caches to download them to find. Not a nice deal as I have 2 more weeks to go. Anybody got any ideas? Grouchymedic
  12. Thanks for the help. I installed it to the laptop and it keeps asking for an unlock key. I will keep trying.
  13. I just installed City Navigator on my Desktop and then to my new GPSMap 60csx. I am going on a month long trip and would like to also have it on my laptop. I see that it says that I need the unlock code and I believe you can only use that once. I thought that meant on one GPSr. Does anyone know if this will install on the laptop or if there is a way to do it. $130 and not able to take it along on vacation is not a very good deal. Thanks for any help on this. Grouchymedic
  14. Thanks for the input. Anything else that I'm missing? 2 gig card, both topo and nav, 60gsx. Oh yea lots of cash. Has the topo 2008 been released yet. Also any thoughts as to where to get it all in one spot at a package cost or good deal? Grouchymedic
  15. I tried to do this to my palm. I found that it couldn't be read. I like what you did. I can live with one peice of paper too. You lost me at the%code!! I typed in after % code then exported. How do I open my mapsend to import and how do I do that. Thanks grouchymedic
  16. Oh by the way. Do I get them on a disk or on the card already loaded. How do they download? Grouchymedic
  17. I have a Magellen 860T in the truck but it takes zip codes or street names etc. It doesn't take coordinates, unless I'm missing something. Also not interested in leaving a $ 600 gps in truck when hunting. So, do I get both and hope the area loads for both? I see blog on that earlier, but I'll get a bigger disk and both as needed. Not rich, just tired of not getting map to area . I usually follow coordinates just by seeing how close I am. No arrows or dots etc. Thats why I tried to load maps to a palm. Need magnifying glass to see them. Grouchymedic
  18. Ihave given up on using the Magellen meridan Platinum for caching. I have decided to get a new Garman 60csx. I live in Ohio. Not many mountains here but would use in S Ohio while hunting. Which software should I get. city nav or topo (2008 ) whenever it is released. How big of a san disk should I get? Maybe I should get both. Any thoughts on the matter? Grouchymedic
  19. Well, Its accomplished with the help of my son-in-law and my geeky granddaughter. Get any map. file, print preview.-- control & printscreen (saves it. ) Paint or anyother that will change to jpeg. In paint select "edit" then paste select file then save as--save file as jpeg, in second dropdown menue. go to palm photo program, click add, select file name and location it was saved in zoom in immage, download to palm Like the man said---It is hard to read, maybe thats why gsak does not include it. I was hoping to havs cash listing and map all on Palm z22 Now someone can tell me that the map is on the gps and usable via coordinates. My magellan meridan platinum is so confusing to me all that I find is a turn by turn direction. I'd like to see just approximately where it is Mayby I know another way there. IS IT ON THE GPS??? Thanks for the great help Grouchymedic
  20. Well folks, I appreciate all of your input on my question. I stumbled into getting one transfer. I have spent the better of two evenings and still can't get it to hppen. When I drag it to pain it says it is in wrong forman. I guess that I will go back to paper on the maps. Thanks again.. Grouchymedic
  21. Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. I couldn't get a conversion to jpeg before. Maybe there is a site that converts coordinates over to maps. I could be looking in another State if I didn't have a map to get me in the general area. Grouchymedic
  22. I need this one last step. I can bring up the maps. I can send it to my desktop ( not documents ). The Palm z22 has a photo button for its viewer. ( unless I'm missing something. When I try and drag the map icon to the photo box it says that it only supports jpeg and the usual, not this type of image. Still would like to geter done. Grouchyer again.
  23. Well, I was able to follow all of the steps Except the send to Palm I do not see how to do that. Hot sync does not do that I have the mape on my desktop but where to next? Thanks for your help.. Grouchymedic
