  1. The roads/bus lanes in the area have been significantly altered since the streetview images were taken, hence my request. A bit of googling tends to show that Reading Borough Council are quite keen to get money out of drivers. However, Councils don't always implement new signage and road markings correctly as dictated by the Road Traffic Act. My position is that if someone is imposing a significant fine on me for accidentally breaking a rule then their 'own house' should be in order.
  2. Calling cachers in Reading. I know this is somewhat off topic but I would appreciate a bit of help. A few days ago I had to deliver some equipment to the Ibis hotel on Friar St. I checked streetview prior to going and all looked good. It turns out that Friar St is now a bus lane and I have bee issued with a £60 fine !!!! That's a bit rich for delivering heavy equipment to a Hotel at 7am in a deserted street!!! Unfortunately I live over an hour from Reading but need some current pictures of Friar Street, the signs and road markings. I need to see what is observable when travelling from the western end to the east. If a fellow cacher could assist with this I'd be very grateful. I can be contacted via my user id on the main geocaching website. Thanks. ps. Note to the Moderators. If I have broken any rules by posting this please delete it.
  3. RIP Network KML. I used to use it on a very frequent basis. My job takes me all over the UK at very short notice. As soon as I knew where I was going GE was fired up to look for suitable caches along the way and at my destination. Without that functionality I'll be forced to use up a couple of my tiny PQ allowance to do the same (5 a day with a max of 500 caches seems ather mean). I haven't had time to read the whole of this thread and I'm sure Groundspeak feel justified in their actions but they sure know how to piss off their customers - What a shame they have a monopoly over our hobby.
  4. God I wish I'd read this before 'upgrading' to this new version!!! Another bug: select a route on screen, right click somewhere on it, select 'insert route section' - Doesn't work any more !!!! Who tested this stuff!
  5. Sounds good to us (Self and Didds). We tour on our bike as well as cache but have yet to combine the two. We are based in Northamptonshire but would hope to make the effort to attend a bike related event. Might even bring a muggle biker friend as well.
  6. I have recently published one of these Picture Caches. I too was concerned that finders would have to download some software to solve the puzzle. After a bit of thought I came up with a way doing it without the need to download any software. It has been found a number of times so I guess it works OK.
  7. No not amateurs, they're taking our money for this poor sevice !!
  8. My emails do seem a bit sporadic (spelling?) too. Hope Groundspeak get it sorted soon.
  9. So she's a uni student. Just goes to show this insane govt target of 50% of young people going to uni is a complete waste of time. Anyone who stops their car on the tracks has something missing between their ears.
  10. I've just tried this. I get the pictures but not the additional waypoints.
  11. I've downloaded GSAK and it looks to be just what I'm after . I do have one problem though. How do I get it to display the additional waypoints that are now appearing on more cache listings. One cache I've looked at (GCVW7J "Definitely Borderline") has the questions of a multicache listed with the additional waypoints but not in the main text. If GSAK can't show these then I'd be a bit stuck .
  12. Wow, thanks for coming back so quickly. Will GSAK show all the info shown on the cahe page (cache size, full description, previous logs etc)?
  13. Hi, I'm a newbie (only been an active cacher for a couple of months) and appologise if I'm asking this in the wrong area or it has been covered many times before. I would like to combine holidays away in our caravan with geocaching. Is it possible to download the cache pages for an area onto a laptop for use when away on holiday and unable to connect to the web? That would save me having to preplan our caching activities and printing them all out before we go. Thanks
