  1. We originally put out our caches as open caches for everybody, but after the struggle that was being had on Sunday afternoons trying to log any caches that we had done due to the extreme slowness of the site we turned them into Member Only caches. Our reason for this was hoping that a few more people may be inspired to become Premium members thus contributing in a small financial way towards the upkeep of the site and the purchase of extra servers. However due to the upset this seems to cause we have reopened our caches for all to find in the hope that it will put an end to all of the mudslinging and nasty e-mails.

  2. We've recently won a competition to have a three night break at the Harcourt Sands Holiday Village near Ryde and were wondering if any other cachers have ever been there. We have checked to see if there are any caches in the area and have noted quite a few to keep ourselves amused with. Have never been to the Isle of Wight but have been told it's a lovely place.

  3. You can have a look through the Greek caches and if you see one that may be in an area that you are going to visit have a look at it and then click on the all nearby caches selection. We did this to look at caches in Rhodes and it worked fine. or use Map It.

  4. We managed to do a couple of caches in Cyprus whilst on holiday there last summer, don't recall having any GPS problems (yellow etrex). We did "Bathtime for Aphrodite" and "Ghost Village". Had a great time in Cyprus and found that the time we spent doing the caching was some of the best memories of the place that we have, it got us of the beaten track and into the countryside. Mr Achilles has also managed to do a couple of caches in his home town of Dublin.

  5. We went caching in Richmond last September. Stayed overnight in a lovely little inn called The shoulder Of Mutton at Kirby Hill. It rained and was very foggy the entire time we were there, but it was still a great place to cache in. Need to get back there to finish off a cache called "Round How" which defeated us at the time - what with the rain, fog and a herd of killer cows coming after us we decided to call it quits. Other than that I can't praise the Richmond area high enough.

  6. We have only been caching for a few months, but during that time have managed to help some animals. The most recent was yesterday. Whilst going to do a maintainence visit to one of our own caches we came across a thrush hanging upside down by its leg from a small tree by some audio tape. The tape was wrapped so tightly around the leg that it had cut through the skin. We managed to get the bird out of the tree, but had to take it to a vet to get the tape off the leg. the thrush seemed to be ok after this so we took it back and released it.

We have also popped a lamb back into a field, and rescued a dachsund puppy that was galloping frantically down the middle of a Lake District road.

We were wondering what experiences other cachers have had with animals.
