  1. Very well done to the three of you. It is quite an acheivement getting to these numbers when you live in this neck of the woods lol.
  2. We originally put out our caches as open caches for everybody, but after the struggle that was being had on Sunday afternoons trying to log any caches that we had done due to the extreme slowness of the site we turned them into Member Only caches. Our reason for this was hoping that a few more people may be inspired to become Premium members thus contributing in a small financial way towards the upkeep of the site and the purchase of extra servers. However due to the upset this seems to cause we have reopened our caches for all to find in the hope that it will put an end to all of the mudslinging and nasty e-mails.
  3. We were very lucky because the ferry travel was is included in the prize. I did have a luck at the ferry prices and it seemed to be going to cost about £130 for the four of us and the car to get over there.
  4. We've recently won a competition to have a three night break at the Harcourt Sands Holiday Village near Ryde and were wondering if any other cachers have ever been there. We have checked to see if there are any caches in the area and have noted quite a few to keep ourselves amused with. Have never been to the Isle of Wight but have been told it's a lovely place.
  5. You can have a look through the Greek caches and if you see one that may be in an area that you are going to visit have a look at it and then click on the all nearby caches selection. We did this to look at caches in Rhodes and it worked fine. or use Map It.
  6. Congratulations to Fellsmanhiker who has reached his 500th cache on Pike O Blisco in the Lake District, and also a big congratulations to his faithful geohound Tasha who always poses very nicely for some of the excellent photos that Fellsmanhiker always posts on his logs. Well done to you both.
  7. The Achilles 1964 team send their best wishes .
  8. Perhaps everyone should send him a congratulations every time he logs one. Perhaps a few dozen e-mails every time he logs will deter him a little. Payback!!!!!
  9. We managed to do a couple of caches in Cyprus whilst on holiday there last summer, don't recall having any GPS problems (yellow etrex). We did "Bathtime for Aphrodite" and "Ghost Village". Had a great time in Cyprus and found that the time we spent doing the caching was some of the best memories of the place that we have, it got us of the beaten track and into the countryside. Mr Achilles has also managed to do a couple of caches in his home town of Dublin.
  10. Have just noticed that congrats are in order for three sets of cachers from The Lake District - The Golem who is just a cats whisker away from the big 100, and also The Clarks and The Robbos who have just passed their century. Well done guys.
  11. We went caching in Richmond last September. Stayed overnight in a lovely little inn called The shoulder Of Mutton at Kirby Hill. It rained and was very foggy the entire time we were there, but it was still a great place to cache in. Need to get back there to finish off a cache called "Round How" which defeated us at the time - what with the rain, fog and a herd of killer cows coming after us we decided to call it quits. Other than that I can't praise the Richmond area high enough.
  12. Happy New Year to all fellow cachers from Achilles1964. May it be rich in new caches. An especially fond wish to everybody we met at the Overton Cache Bash.
  13. Who needs snow lol! Here in South Cumbria the skys are clear blue, we've just got back from doing a FTF and the sun was nigh on splitting the rocks. We had gone out togged up in all our winter gear, but ended up having to divest ourseves of some of it on the walk back to the car.
  14. As this is our local area I have to agree that the Lake District is beautiful, but is also rather exhausting caching with all the hills involved, it must be great to live in lovely flat Norfolk.
  15. From Barrow-in-Furness on the edge of the Lake District, though Mr Achilles comes from Dublin.
  16. Congratulations to Fellsmanhiker on reaching 400. Here's to many more.
  17. We live on outskirts of the Lake District, dead sheep often seem to be a feature of caching around here. We had a dead lamb near one of our caches and there was 3 of them at a cache thats not too far away from our house.
  18. Well done Walkworld on your 100th find, and it was on one of our caches. Good luck with the next hundred
  19. We only live in Barrow-in-Furness and would love to come along. Any date would be fine. This will be our first get together with other cachers.
  20. We have only been caching for a few months, but during that time have managed to help some animals. The most recent was yesterday. Whilst going to do a maintainence visit to one of our own caches we came across a thrush hanging upside down by its leg from a small tree by some audio tape. The tape was wrapped so tightly around the leg that it had cut through the skin. We managed to get the bird out of the tree, but had to take it to a vet to get the tape off the leg. the thrush seemed to be ok after this so we took it back and released it. We have also popped a lamb back into a field, and rescued a dachsund puppy that was galloping frantically down the middle of a Lake District road. We were wondering what experiences other cachers have had with animals.
