this one is scary

Poor taste for sure.I could just hear my kid saying it,then i yell at them, and they explain to me that it is not profane because it is not spelled correctly.hehe..I dont think so.Profanity is profanity no matter how you diguise the spelling. If you cant read it out loud at the dinner table then it doesnt belong on here.Just my opinion.

When caching with the wife and kids we are team Martin.By myself it is Chachi44089.I got the nick name chachi from my high school grad picture, which was a combination of a bad hair cut and being a victim of the 80s.lol..44089 is our area code.

A game sounds like fun. There is a foot of snow on the ground here and nothing to do.I am ready to play.Web based would be cool to,then I could play anytime...I also like making up obscene words..lol..I think a few have made the big-time.

I have only been a PM for a couple weeks. For me the $30 wasnt so much for what I was getting.Though the premium features are a great bonus. To me the money was also going to support a website and community that is at the heart of the game I just learned to play. Its a win-win in my book.

Seems to me that a handheld GPS with turn by turn navigation plus an earphone would be the ticket. The biggest issue might be trying to keep a sat lock in the presence of tall buildings might be a problem.Has anyone used their handheld GPS in this type of setting?Lowrance has a handheld GPS that does turn by turn and has a headphone jack, wonder if it would work??

Update:My unit would still not display map after much help from EnduraExpert.I was very surprised by the level of support I recieved from Lawrance. They even called me at my home and walked me through the map install process to make sure I did it properly. But still no go.I was informed it would need to be shipped back.Within 24 hours a rep called with the shipping info..nice..EnduraExpert also told me they would give me a few free map downloads for my trouble.Sounds fair to me.Its too snowy here to do anything anyways. So far I must say that this has been a painless experience dealing with Lowrance.Nice to see someone here that was quick to contact me with help.Keeps me assured that they care about their products as well as their customers.I will update this again when my unit returnes.I hope it is soon, the snow is melting!!

Save up for a GPS.A lot of people upgrade their units and sell the old ones at quite a bargain.

You chose a very nice GPS.Lots of features.I can answer a few of your questions..I find that I dont use the map that much for caching,I wind up using the arrow once I am in the erea. The base maps are prolly plenty good to go caching.Yes you can throw the unit in your pack and just fire it up when you get to the erea you want to cache in,no need to have it running from the time you leave home. That will same a lot on batteries. There is a site for free maps that you can d-load.Someone can post you a link to them here.

I know this wasnt on your list but it is in your price range with nice options..Lowrance Out@back $200,check out the options on this unit. You get alot of options for the money

I am having the same problem.I tried everything, and still no map.I only d-loaded a single imagery map.my unit is updated and all.Have you figured out the problem EnduraExpert?I called cs but was on hold for about 45 min, and gave up.Any help appreciated.

Thanx alot! I looked all through my manual and still find no reference to this.Did you find this in the manual or other source?

I guess I see no real reson that they cant participate on these forums. They are 9 and 12.I am probably just used to some of the other forums that I frequent that are sometimes a little harsh when it comes to questions that they might percieve as dumb, not knowing a kid posted it.But all the people I have meet and read on here seem very polite and respectful in dialogue. Thanks to all of you for putting me at ease.If they decide to register and participate I will inform them to include their age,as to prevent any misunderstandings.Well,I would like to stay and chat but we are going geocaching for a few hours before it gets dark..Later

I get the point."I would add, the sentence I bolded should tell you a lot"Its not the game they were not interested in,just the site. But anyways I do get the point. No feelings hurt. They can enjoy the site vicariously through me.lol..It has been nice finding something to do as a family that actually pried them away from the TV,internet and video games.Too many kids these days are inside the house missing out on the world around them. When I was a kid I would drive my parents nuts begging to go outside and play. Now its the opposite.Thanx for the input.See ya OUTSIDE..

I can see your point, tho I dont feel the sites sole purpose as "help and assistance".Nor do I feel "your"membership fee would be impacted.I would be more than happy to pay for my daughters membership and may regardless of a junior forum. And I know that it could wind up a "kiddie chatroom",but if it was chatting about geocaching I dont see the problem.I would just like to see the site more "kid friendly".It wouldnt mean that you had to read the forum,or pay more money. An "online playground"about geocaching, count me in!And the kids forum doesnt have to be only help and assistance, there are the other forums here for that.Just a way for them to feel more involved in this "family oriented" game.

I just started in this game and bought a Lowrance out&back.I love the units performance and features.But.The touch screen can be a pain when you put the unit in your pocket or in a case because you inevitably "touch" the screen.I was out cachin yesterday and once in a while I would stick the unit in my pocket only to remove a few moments later to find the screen had "navigated" away from where i had left it.I would like to see a feature in the settings to disable the touch screen when I dont need it,when wearing gloves in the winter and such.Has anyone else had this problem?

is it sold?? please update

I am new to geocaching.Yesterday was our first three finds!!I told my daughters to look over the site and read up on the game. They said "cool site".They didnt seem real interested.I asked my oldest daughter what she didnt like. She said"no forum for kids so she could read and post with others around her age".So I ask.Has this ever been considered?I think it could make the younger players in this game feel more invited to the site. They may even find friends in their area that are "junior-cachers".Share adventures and experiences.Let me know what you think.

cestos,
I think i looked at so many gps units that i forgot the specs on mine..lol..sorry.I looked at the packaging and the manual for mine and i cant find the amount of on-board mem.I even checked the web site.
When i hook it to my pc and right click and select properties,it says i have 510 mb of free space.I have nothing on the gps eccept about 20 cache filed .loc
I just baught this gps 5 days ago.Does this mean it has 500 mb. of on-board mem?I will try and fill it with stuff to see.
Thanx for pointing out my error.I dont want to mislead anyone.
