  1. I'm very new and have been wondering how do you ask if you see somebody near GZ. Last week, as I was hiking up a very steep hill with GZ at the top of the hill out of sight, I met somebody coming down said hill. I so wanted to ask if he was a cacher, but didn't know what to say. Since he would have already found the cache and was on his way down if he was a cacher there was no "taletells" like a him holding a GPS
  2. lots of information here for this newby. (including the hint about the bacon lol) I haven't been logging my DNF because my GPS was way off (tried to do it with my phone at first) even now I haven't developed the "geo sense" yet so hate to log a DNF when its just a matter of me not knowing what I'm doing. are you all saying I should still go head and log them??
  3. I'm really new to this. one cache found so far, have looked for about 6 of them. The GPS on my phone is way off, So I need to get a different one if I'm going to continue doing this. until then, I'm putting the coordinates into google earth to get a better of idea of where I should be searching for the caches. A friend said to make sure and check the logs online to see if the cache has been found lately, before trying to find them. My first find, I wasn't sure if I had done it right since there was no log book, so contacted the CO and sure enough the log was missing. It was a good thing I did because they told me of another cache of theirs that I was going to try to find was missing after alot of rain in our area.
