  1. I love reading through some of the old logs, I do not think of it as cheating in the least but most folks do give thigs away in the long run. I don't care, as far as I'm concerned it's not about just finding the cache but the entire experience of finding the cache - the location, the walk, everything. I want you fo find my hides, I'll even post my own spoiler pictures just to tease you - getting there is the fun part Another side note for me is that it reduces my maint concerns. Should I get a report that they got to GZ and could not find the cache then I know there could be a problem.
  2. ahhh the joys of bulk downloads, paperless & go caching. You could hand it to then and provide the parking/entrance area. I'd stick to your guns and follow 3, 4 & 5 delete & re-log. It seems that a majority of the folks were playing by the rules and even left when they found that they could not get to the final. I assume all responsibility for my actions when I'm out in the field but there are some things that just do not need mentioned when logging a cache.
  3. popgun idea just modify the plans a wee bit so everything stays in one place
  4. google 5.11 tactical vest. I've got one and it works pretty good, just have to remember which pocket held what
  5. This is pretty dead but just for fun if you want to add them to your bookmarks AC 91.21-1A - it's a PDF link FAA/google search for GPS FAA regs, I'm not going to waste my time with the carriers NTSB link page - fun for nosing around Tail number search Can't forget about TSA
  6. might take some playing but how about using a hand pump, the kind that you use when you pump up pool toys - or you could go to your tire store and get a tire stem and leave a bike pump, build a little pressure and get the same results with little or no concern. my only concern would be having folks reset everything when done so the next finder has fun as well.
  7. When will my cache get approved Bring back virtuals What's wrong with a pocket cache
  8. Ok, I’ll jump in . I feel that you project a lot of your stance and position by how you carry yourself. There are victims everywhere. Next time you are out at the mall, shopping or where ever stop and look at the people around you. Think to yourself if there was one and only one individual you were going to attack who would you choose to be your victim. Mmmmm the weak and the sick – just like a predator hunting for dinner. Victims come in all shapes & sizes some tast better than others Some folks carry themselves in a very confident manner. They are aware of their surroundings, what they have with them and who is around them. This is something I can see when I look at people. If you project a strong and confident posture people will see this and take a mental note, they may still approach you, as long as your confidence carries over to your conversation they may rethink their attack or what ever they had on their mind. There was this little old man years ago; he was in a public bathroom. I entered and his back was to me and I just stood there watching him count out over $1500 on the counter. He never turned to look at me nor did he even acknowledge that he knew I was there. Nobody was in the bathroom with us; one swift blow and the money could have been mine. Hold your head high and know who and what is around you and use common sense.
  9. ok, kinda a long story but I'll be short. There was a special container that was being sold back in 05. Someone posted a question about it and I jumped in. I/we found who had the original design but they wanted money for the "plans/container". Being a natural born cheapskate I pondered the pictures for a few days and figured out how it worked and made one of my own. It did require quite a bit of work but I was proud of myself of being able to get the thing to work. In the end it would have been cheaper for me to buy it rather than go through the design phase but I was so proud of myself and the reaction that I received from the locals. I had others with more technical skills make professional plans and I have shared my plans with many folks. I never gave the owner of the "original container" credit for anything since I later found that my plans were slightly different than his and I never charged anyone for what I gave them. All that I want out of this game is smiles, that's worth more than anything to me. I'll copy what and where I like and I am flattered that others would do the same from me. I don't need to be a legend or famous for anything, I'm proud of myself and what I do
  10. silicone or butyl rubber caulk and keep the magnets inside - not much really sticks well to plastic.
  11. Start nosing around here, the only thing I would be concerned about is sticking my hand into a hole without checking first. Other than that no more concerns than anything else. Pay attention to what you are doing and where you are going, I've taken my kids all over the place and into areas that other parents would not even think of going. The boy has been hunting with me since he was 6 and no issues.
  12. mmmmmmmm love the smell of diesel exhaust and Jet-A in the morning - quite the rush, hmmmm I think I need some more drivers training. going off topic, sorry, does Fireboy trade patches? Send a PM if so and I'll see if I can dig one up

  16. will you be my friend? I've got 2 on my list - I sent both invites, no strangers - er.. stalkers yet, I guess I'm not popular enough or could it be that most just don't want to be my friend
  17. This thread reminds me of a quote from the movie Colors: There's two bulls standing on top of a mountain. The younger one says to the older one: "Hey pop, let's say we run down there and find one of them cows". The older one says: "No son. Lets walk down and find 'em all".
  18. Early form of a virtual & now waymarks as far as I'm concernd. Take a tour through the wayback machine all the old links will (should) work Link not working for me ya got me, I even found a picture, James Coburn LAX stash

  20. I guess a majority of the folks have not honed their masterdebating skills. It is far too easy to constantly bring up the same old topics and same old answers rather than taking the time to research new leads. I do not feel that the forums are a place for debate I think that they are a place for open discussion about geocaching related topics. I think it the folks who have good masterdebating skills like to come here just to practice.
  21. But it's a creek filled with sharks - with freakin' laser beams on their head! don't forget the turtles, they could poke out and bite ya
  22. A majority of my caches are hidden in my favorite stomping grounds in the local State Game Lands. Hunting season comes around I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. I can check on my caches & hunt as well. A couple of years ago I was working my way to one of my sweet spots (hmm I've got a cache hidden here), just as I move into position the largest buck I have ever seen in my life jumps up and starts walking away from me. I did not spook him, he was slowly walking away from me. I pull my trusty rifle into position and quickly fog the scope. I try my best to clear things up, pull up on him again just as he walks around the tree, rats the scope fogs over again. I got another peak but not a clear shot, oh well at least the cache was in good shape. Soooo, yes I carry a gun while caching but only when I'm hunting and yes I've used it several times
  23. I'd reword your text a bit. In a rush some may jump to conclusions and misread some points. Nice area/or whatever, unfortunately I could not find your cache. I enjoy the challenge of finding the cache on my own, please don't send any spoilers or hints unless I ask for them. Thanks for placing the cache for me to find.
  24. Wow I've not been on a date in 15 years. I don't think I would have taken my wife on a cache outing (while we were dating) unless I clearly explained what we were going to do and then I think she would have told me to have a good time and not to get hurt. I guess it all depends on the individuals personality and how the adventure was set up. I'm still trying to convince her to act as my navigator so I can go on a mega cache run since she loves telling me what to do and where I should go. Navigation with your significant other, now that's a thread all of it's own
