  1. Interesting. I logged 8 of 50 mystery caches found today (only 5 points each)> This gives me 40 points which should produce 4 souvenirs; but only 3 have been awarded.
  2. I'm in agreement with amineko! This issue IS NOT YET FIXED. I logged a MYSTERY a few moments ago; only got 5 points.
  3. Hi all, I have a friend that has only a casual interest in geocaching and is not a premium member. They find the constant nagging in this app to become a premium member makes the app unusable. My friend is using the classic app now; but apparently those days are numbered. Are there alternative apps for the iPhone out there; hopefully free?

I have not read all messages in this thread in several years; but I vaguely recall that CO has a PQ file with original DT ratings. I can provide website space for sharing this file if CO is agreeable. If that does not happen; perhaps a public BOOKMARK could be created and shared? I don't have time this weekend; but might start something like that. Has anyone already made their own list of these caches. For myself; I still need 5 caches: 4.5/4.5 and 5.0/2.5 thru 5.0/4.0; I have no idea if the ones I have really qualify or not! Using cutoff date for Original USA,CA cache; add 2.5/4.5, 3.0/5.0 and 4.5/1.0 to the list. As for people watching this thread; I believe the default is to get email for each post if you posted message yourself. You need to come back and click "Stop watching topic" for this to stop.
  5. I first encountered this problem a few years ago; just noticed it still has never been fixed. Here are the steps to reproduce this issue: Log a "Found it" for a cache. Wait some period (not sure how long; perhaps a week or more). Realize that the FOUND was really a DNF and change your log entry. Access the map view for this cache; you will still see a smilie on the map. Wait another long period of time; smilie does not revert to "not found". I have a cache where original FIND was 2016-Jul-27; but still shows smilie on map-view.
  6. On the "NEW" search page; it is NOT possible to type some geocacher names with special characters in their name. For example in the "Not Found By" box on this page; entry of the period in "B.lady" is ignored. However; copy/paste of this name into the box IS allowed.
  7. Visit page listing recent geocaches found: https://www.geocaching.com/my/geocaches.aspx There is a calendar on the right-side of page. Click any date in that Calendar. Although results displayed are correct; an error is displayed. Your Geocaching Logs [invalid Resource Key: litForDate]

    SSL errors

This issue simply "went away" after a few hours without any changes. Now this message appears when trying to access forum website.

    SSL errors

Starting this morning; I get the following error when accessing geocaching.com An error occurred during a connection to www.geocaching.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
  10. Some analysis on sizes of EarthCaches. * Zero with size virtual. * 500 nearby active EarthCaches shows approx 60% "Not chosen" and 40% "Other". * Worldwide about 200 EarthCaches with all other sizes (Micro, Small, Regular, Large). * Both "Not Chosen" and "Other" are used for EarthCaches more than 10 years old.
  11. The email us page includes "* indicates a required field.". The page also contains a field "Please type this security word:" which does not have an asterisk beside it. A minor bug, of course; but a bug nevertheless.
  12. Grey icons indicate Temporarily Disabled caches. If the PQ map should act like the regular map, archived caches shouldn't be displayed at all. I'm actually surprised they did show up. You are confusing the real issue here. PQ's and maps are two different things. Maps based on PQ's should always report all caches in the PQ result set. PQ's that are not based on bookmarks exclude archived caches; therefore they do not show on maps. PQ's based on bookmarks could include an archived cache; therefore it should appear on the map.
  13. Steps to reproduce: Create a BookMark list of caches that includes archived caches Create a Pocket Query based on BookMark list. Preview the search Map this location Observation: My Bookmark produces "Normal" icons for the following archived caches:Red Maple#3-Pike Fishing (near London, ON) Algoma2 (near Sault Ste Marie, ON) Expectation: Archived traditional caches that are not found should present the greyer version of Traditional icon. Environment: Firefox 13.0.1 on OpenBSD 5.2
  14. While researching caches in Cuba; I was surprised to see all the detail information about how to find caches; then I found out about possible restrictions on GPS devices! If I cannot use GPS to find the caches; then I'd also prefer not to print a lot of paper before leaving. I found an alternative to paper-based geocaching in Cuba! Earlier this week I figured out how to transfer GC webpages to my BB so that I don't need to print anything before I go. Here is the procedure: 1) Open any GC cache page. Scroll *all* the way to the bottom of page to see "Published" log entry. This is necessary if you wish to be able to see all log entries; some do not load into webpage until you scroll down to view them. 2) In your browser; use "File" menu to save the current page to disk. Most browsers with create a file like GCxxxx.html and a directory like GCxxxx_files (details will vary by browser). 3) Connect BB to computer and transfer both the file and associated directory to root directory of your BB device. 4) Disconnect BB from computer. 5) On BB, open browser and type this website address: file:///SDcard/GCxxxx.html Voila! You can view webpage without any access to cell towers. Something similar should also work for iPhones; I'll leave that exercise for someone else do document.

May I request a ruling on GC1207H Bridges of Strathroy - multi which was recently changed?
  16. I tried out Maps Beta on my PC; now it seems to be my "default" and I cannot figure out how to change the default back to "original maps". Maps Beta is not usable on my smartphone and the link to revert to original maps is not visible on my smartphone (BB8780). When I revert to original maps on my PC; this choice is not remembered! Every time I click "View Larger Map" on either my PC or BB; I get the Maps Beta and I would prefer to see original maps on my BB. How do I make this happen?
