  1. I've found quite a lot of war caches that have been dedicated to the soldiers who went and fought. Now, I'm pretty sure that war is a social issue... don't see how it's related to cancer, nor how cancer can be a social issue. Ridiculous.
  2. Obligatory plug for GeoMob - if you've got a newish mobile you can paperless cache on it: http://www.metaltheater.com/GeoMob
  3. I've found over 100 caches and 95% of them were without a map. Give it a go mate and see what happens! Part of the fun is working out what street you're meant to be on.
  4. You can generate the text file using GSAK (geocaching swiss army knife). There is a macro on GeoMob's page to do this. Or you can just compile the file yourself using notepad. For me, it's much quicker than printing off 20 sheets of paper each with a cache on it. At the moment I've got 60 cache's on my phone that are around my local area and it didn't take long to compile.
  5. Hi guys, I have been working on a (free) program to let you use your (Nokia) mobile for paperless caching. I've been using it myself because I don't yet have a PDA or a membership subscription. If you're interested, you can download the program here: http://www.metaltheater.com/GeoMob/
  6. Thanks bogleman. Keystone, all I do is copy and paste data from the cache page. I'm working on writing a macro in GSAK so that you can export data from it into GeoMob. Bogleman, is there any chance you could remove my email address from your post? I need to avoid spam if possible
  7. Hi guys, I have released the latest version of GeoMob - the application for displaying cache details on your mobile: http://www.metaltheater.com/GeoMob/ Features: 1. Create lists of Geocaches from geocaching.com and display it on your mobile 2. Display the cache's details 3. Decrypt hints 4. Display distance and direction between caches! 5. Paperless caching for those without a PDA and/or without a premium subscription It's still in it's early stages so if you'd like to give it a shot, please do so and let me know how you go.
  8. Note to anyone else reading this. I have created a page for the program: http://www.metaltheater.com/GeoMob if anyone would like to test it on their mobile that would be great!
  9. Hiya - I tried the same thing and got the same error, whoops, sorry. I've since updated the zip file: http://www.metaltheater.com/geocaches.zip with a new version of the CACHES.TXT file. Update it and give it a go. I'm about to create a page for the application because it's getting better. Will keep you updated!
  10. Hi ninasger, I have uploaded the program to here: http://www.metaltheater.com/geocaches.zip unzip the file and check out the readme.txt. It would be great if you could try to get it to work using the supplied data file. If that works then you could update it to include your own cache data. I'm not sure how well co-ordinates outside of Australia will work yet I've since added a bit of new functionality, it now reads in the co-ords for the caches and it sorts them according to what's closest. You can then set a cache as your "position" and the list of caches will be updates to be in the order of those nearest to your position. Seems to work ok, I found two caches with it tonight Good luck, let me know if it works ok.
  11. Hi Lackie - have you actually found any geocaches yet? Your profile seems rather new... it might be easier if you've found a couple of caches first using the traditional method. But if you want to give it a bash that would be cool.
  12. Hi guys, I have been working on a solution for being able to paperless cache on my Nokia. It's a small java program that lets you view caching details that you've put into a file - so it works as an offline reader. In theory it should work on most phones that are Java enabled. Screenshot of running the program: Selecting a cache: Viewing the cache details: It's still at the beginner stage but it works. If anyone is interested in testing it out, or working on the development (java j2me) please let me know. thanks!
  13. That's what I was after - seems a pretty strange place to put it! Might email the administrators of the site and see if they can fix it up. IMHO it would be nicer if it appeared on the main cache page.
  14. Hi everyone, Been caching for a few months and love it! I was wondering if there is an easy way to work out how far away a particular cache is. It would be great if each cache page had listed something like "10km E from your home co-ordinates". Currently I am using a web-tool to do this, but it's a pain. Have I missed something? Or this is a premium member service? I realise that I can enter my home post-code, however if I can't find the cache in this listing then I'm out of options.
