  1. I send a joyus W00t! your way Jplus14!!
  2. Wow I feel a little better since I'm not the only one waiting for the April signal coin. I was told they were planned to ship last week but still havn't seen them. I did however get my Coins from Chris Rake in like 3 days of ordering them. He makes such great coins. Got an email from coinstore that April Signal is mailing this week. No offense intended as I like crake coins as well, but a lot of us pre-order those so it's more than 3days. Crake coins are high quality and well packaged as you say though and the coinstore has improved theirs lately. True, I hadn't thought about it like that. I preordered the Navstar coin, and picked up some TrackingTime overstock(these were the ones that I got in about 3 days).

  4. Yes, thats why I said window, also they did not do it out of malice, or intentional harm. Other than that I agree with you. Fair enough
  5. So if the pieces of a chess set were broken and you could no longer tell what piece was what, there is no harm done? The containers were marked, not broken, save the drama... If you belive in this "NO harm done" does this mean I can come and sign my name on your cars paint with a perminant marker? No harm would be done right? I have no problem with people wanting to and attempting records so long as they're respectful of other peoples property, don't endager themselves or compromise the saftey of others. Just my $0.02. Sorry, you just cant compare vandalizing a car's paint job to vandalizing a cache. If you said window I think the annoyance factor would be equal. However, this practice disturbs me because it is very similar to the graffitti you see in the city. Most are placed by gangs (teams) who mark their territory, or use it to get attention, without regards for whoever owns the buildings being "tagged". The cachers stated they marked the containers to save time, but it also appears in my opinion that they were doing it for attention. If more people started following in their footsteps and doing it, it would undoubtedly lead to a lack of respect for caches in general, and actual damage. But I also feel that they made an honest mistake, and were more concerned about making the record than thinking about the proper way to do it. If you learn something from a mistake, and dont repeat it, then it's not really a mistake is it? How is it any different? They're both another persons property that has been "vandalized" many people put a lot of work and pride into the camoing of their caches of which now are going to have to be "repaired". Is the size and value of the offense different than if it were a car? of course. But the point is that it shouldn't be condoned by the community to vandalize or ruin someones work. I also wonder what effect it would have on the next generation of cachers if they assume this practice is O.K.? (I hope I'm making sense )

  7. Hmmm, can I go out and find like 600 caches over the next 6 months and with the owners permission not log them until January 1st 2007? Then I can hold the world record all to myself!! Ohh but what would be better is if I could "borrow" all the caches and keep them in my garage, moving them is ok right? Sorry I just had to let it out.

I'm still lurking about, making plans for the fall picnic and wondering when we're gonna hear more about this night trailmix.. -Patrick
  9. I noticed the Groundspeak shop is showing the new design for the TB's. Are they actually selling them now, or are people still getting the "Old" style TB's? and If they're selling the new ones when the heck did this happen? Thanks! -PMaholm
  10. I've run into the exact same thing with my 60CSx, I'd really like to see a feature where you can actually set which WAAS/EGNOS birds you'd prefer. I've heard lots of talk that 33 isn't sending accurate corrections for the US/Canada so I'd like to turn it off while still attempting to use the WAAS birds.
  11. Hi I was wondering if anyone has tried making or having a stencil made and then just using spray paint on blank nickels? I hope to start making or have some nickels made soon and am trying to get some ideas. Thanks everyone! -PMaholm
  12. 30+ minutes? wondering if they've run into more problems... Even our exchange server doesn't take more than 30 min to reboot.
  13. Personally I think it'd be neat to have trackable nickles, It'd help reduce the cost for those of us that don't have $2300+ to throw at minting our own coins. Also Nickles may travel better since they're a "Low Value" item and have less of the "ohhh shiney" factor. I also think GC shouldn't mind they'd still be getting their $1.50 per number(and $150 per Icon if they'd allow that). Anywho just my $0.02. -PMaholm
  14. Or for the ones you've already listed you could let us know your E-Bay username so we could find them that way? Just a thought. -Patrick I'll try to put "Ladycacher" somewhere in the description of future coins I list. I can't change the descriptions on the ones I've already put up. Thanks

Hey hey the Goretex bodysuit works very well for rain and snow. Hopefully I'll be at Trailmix3 this weekend.
  16. or you could try www.newegg.com, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820171115 Currently $47.99 + $4.81 S/H it's where I'm planning to pick mine up after payday. -Patrick
  17. Does anyone have any resources on WAAS birds? I've not really looked into it that much. Thanks! -Patrick
  18. Or you could invest in some security screws, the kind they use on bathroom stalls to make it more difficult. I like the cable lock Idea too. -Patrick
  19. Trading or Barter has always been considered "payment" for items. When you trade an item for an item it should be considered as a full transfer of ownership and all services placed on that item. I would hate to see my personal coin go up for sale on E-Bay but that's somthing we all who have or will have personal coins will have to deal with. Just my thoughts. -Patrick They paid for the coin by giving/trading the maker of this coin another coin. That sounds like payment to me. They may want to put your coin in a nice frame or case, I hope they don't send you a bill for $250 "rent"
  20. Ahh okay. That's fine, I was just throwing out ideas. Thanks! -Patrick
  21. Ok, but is there anyway to up the amounts of pins on the map? If the caches have already been queried would it add a lot more server load to pop in extra pins but no details? Kinda like how the old maps had all the caches but then you could "Identify" or if you could have a user control of "select amount of pins" with some predefined numbers? just some Ideas. -Patrick If you look below the list of caches you'll see some numbers, these are page numbers that will let you see the other caches listed. -Raine
  22. Looks awsome! I only have some problems with only seeing 20 caches, I like to get a pretty good view with the zm=13. It's not difficult at all for me to hit places that have way more than 20 caches on the screen. Just some food for thought. -Patrick

I'm just chiming in that I'm an Indiana Cacher who's gonna try to get to some IndiGO events. So hi everyone! -Patrick Maholm
  24. If ya got really crazy you could in theory use someone’s cell phone that has an unlimited data package hook it to a laptop and have that laptop act as the internet gateway and plug a WAP into the laptop. Of course all in theory. Not to mention it would probably be ridiculously slow. But yeah, is there still time to get reservations to GW4? If so where can I look into it? Thanks a million! -Patrick Maholm
  25. I also have an old version Vista. Personally I think it works fine. only after it was left in my hot truck for about a week did I start getting the lines and blanking problem, oddly enough if I slap it a couple of times and turn it off and back on it'll be fine. I do however prefer my 60CSx there's just somthing nice about having the ability to drop in 1 gig of memory for $50. -PMaholm
