  1. I am putting out a new puzzle cache in my area based on a song/video that I have recorded. It is a free song done for a free compilation. There is no profit to be made from the song. I spoke to a local reviewer who said that it should be okay as long as it isn't for sale. So, I'll keep the song for free as it was just a fun little Christmas diddy. Anyway, I saved all my coords and stuff and want to add the video from YouTube to my cache listing. Anyone know how to actually do this? I've tried using Youtube's embed code which doesn't work. I've tried adding just the link to the cache page, but it just appears as text and not as a link. I've even tried using the URL of the video (both the long and short version) in the related website box. None of this works. Where are the easy editor tools I used when I first set this up? I don't speak HTML, so I don't know how to code this. Can anyone help? How do I go about putting the video on my cache listing either directly or just as a link?
  2. Does anyone know how to actually DO it? I have set up a cache page for a puzzle cache based on a video/song I recorded that is not for sale. I had saved my work, but now the easy edit tools are gone and everything has to be coded with HTML which I don't know how to do. Am I going to have to archive what I have and start over, or is there an easy way to embed or at least link to my video on my cache page? I will need step by step instructions.
  3. I had this problem a couple of days ago and it seems that it is happening again. I try to log in and the website tells me that there is a problem with my user name/password. Funny--I have that saved in Firefox so that I don't have to retype it. It was working fine last week. I do hope this gets fixed soon!
  4. I don't see a problem with someone basing a cache on any religious figure whether it be Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad, etc. As long as the cache is more about the HISTORY of those characters and not about creating converts, then let it be. I'd look for it. As a Christian, though, I don't believe that a geocache should be done to preach or try to convert others. Sure, I want people to share my beliefs, but I know that forcing people to listen to me through a cache listing would just turn people off. However, if someone put out a Christmas themed cache (for example) with a bison tube hidden in a manger scene, I don't think it should be kicked out of the system. It's just something people like and wanted to make a cache based on those likes.
  5. Further info: I am running Windows 7 with the most recent version of Firefox. Here is what I see when I try to run a PQ: That ought to help a little.
  6. I have tried to run a PQ several times and cannot get one to run. I keep getting a numbered error message (500) that tells me that I need to log in even when I am logged in. I need to run a PQ and update my machine.
  7. If Groundspeak jacked their prices for Premium membership to $9.99 a month as proposed by the original post, that would quadruple the price annually. If that happened, this would insure the fall of Groundspeak and the success of OpenCaching.
  8. I installed the GreaseMonkey scripts and am glad to have Google back. Now, is there a way to remove all the other map options?
  9. I actually convinced Garmin to replace under warranty my Etrex 30. So far, I have only had it out on one excursion. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no sign of the sticky issue. I have just the GPS on and no Glosnass or WAAS activated.
  10. I have to agree with the statement about not needing GSAK with the current Garmins where you can just drop your pocket queries directly in the machine. I have the paid version, and loading PQs with GSAK takes more time. I really don't need it now that I have swapped from a DeLorme back to a paperless Garmin.
  11. Garmin is actually going to run mine and some others through their lab, find the problem, and design the software fix based off of that and user reports. So, keep telling them about your problems so they can clear this up. In the future, though, I won't buy another Garmin product until it has been out for several months and has all the kinks worked out.
  12. I carry a Kangatek bag. It goes over my shoulder and keeps all my tools handy and within reach when I am caching. It also keeps my stuff together and not floating around in my truck.
  13. I want a Star Trek geocoin. I'd be willing to buy if priced right.
  14. I can't try the 2.61 or the new 2.7 either with my Etrex 30. After sending several emails to Garmin, they finally agreed to take my unit back and are sending me a new one. So, we will see if one of these manufactured later has the same problems. When I get the new one, I will load it up with the new software if necessary and see how it works.
  15. I've been going back and forth with Garmin for a few weeks. They will tell you to do a hard reboot of the unit. Then, they will tell you to remove the microSD card. I've done those things and am still having the sticking issue. I am requesting either my money back or replacement with a Dakota 20 which is now cheaper than the Etrex 30.
  16. Add my name to the list of aggravated 30 users with the sticky problem. Even with all the firmware updates, mine is still freezing and having to be recalibrated constantly. I sent a support request to alert Garmin that more and more people are having troubles with these machines. I'm really put out with mine. I bought the new eTrex to replace a Delorme PN-40 that I got for Christmas over a year ago. It froze up constantly and had to reboot it by removing the batteries. I had started off caching with an eTrex Vista HC and "upgraded" to the Delorme. So, when it started having issues, I bought the new eTrex 30. Now, it's just as screwy as the Delorme. If Garmin doesn't come out with a fix, then I am going to request a refund and try a Magellan.
  17. I had to buy a new computer last weekend. I have the latest version of IE and Firefox on Windows 7 64 bit. I have also downloaded and installed the plugin from Delorme so that I can use the Send To GPS feature. However, this feature is not working for me on the laptop. My desktop is older and I have no trouble there. But, I cannot get this feature to work on the new laptop. It funny, though, because I can upload my field notes for faster logging of finds. Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Are there other programs like Adobe or Java or something of that nature that I need to make everything work? Please let me know, okay?
  18. Maybe I'm just to simple of a person, but I like micros. Sure, skirt lifters and guard rails are overdone, but those got me out there playing the game. Finding these just makes finding the better caches even more sweet. Besides, if I just end up signing the log on an ammo box in the woods, it's not really any different than finding a micro. If you aren't one of the first few people to find a new cache, then the swag is typically garbage unless there are trackables inside. So, I'll start trying to use my brain more for hides, and I vow to not make a skirt lifter or hide on more than the one guard rail I have used. But, simple micros even in public areas of no real interest can still get new cachers into the sport.
  19. I keep 2 pens with me, and I have some signature swag pencils I had made. So, there is never a reason to not sign the log other than a DNF. If the log is soaking wet, I typically have a couple of spare ones with me just in case some on the spot repair needs to be done.
  20. I personally wouldn't want coupons in a cache. It's still just an advertisement for a good or service. Plus, it's been brought up that they will just end up as soggy trash in the bottom of the container. I don't think I'd put them in a cache, and I have definitely removed some and took them with me in a CITO bag.
  21. I wouldn't mind the frownies, either. Could be cute and a helpful reminder to get that cache.
  22. I won't be trying the Garmin site. Let someone have my user name there. I like the services that Groundspeak offers, and I like the simplicity of using the site. The reviewers sometimes get on my nerves when they kick out a new cache of mine, but they are doing their jobs well. After Christmas, I will have a GPS that will do paperless caching and be able to receive pocket queries. For $30 a year, $2.50 a month, I can have all the caching fun I want right here. I'm not interested in another site. I looked into a couple of the other sites available and just am not interested. The game, as far as I am concerned, is only at www.geocaching.com. Everyone else is just a cheap knock-off in my opinion.
  23. I ordered from your website the new nickel geotrek coin on Nov. 24. I have heard nothing back from you. The site says these are in stock. Are they? Or, am I going to have to wait for a repressing?
  24. I was able to go to the Garmin site and log it. I was able to load those caches through the Garmin site.
  25. Whew! I thought it was me.. but I get the same message and have done the plug-in install and test... wtf?? The problem is still there today. I wanted to load a couple of caches that I was going to hit on a run I am about to leave on. Will have to enter coords manually as there were not enough caches I wanted to load to warrant a PQ.
