  1. I must be the only person stuck at home. I'm doing my good turn today, babysitting 2 boys overnight. their mom is a single mom and she's a police dispatcher. working 6PM to 6AM. I'm plan C I think, but pleased to help. PS. We may be going up to Idaho soon to check out a place. I'm a bit nervous about it. Amy
  2. I have read varying reports on geocoins and not trading up. so I'm confused, do I need to trade up or not? In the cache fountain friendly I left a pair of dice, traded a hotwheel for another hotwheel and took the geocoin. I thought they were like travel bugs. So I didn't trade up for it, I took it, so I can move it along. So do I need to go put it back or go put something better in the cache. Amy
  3. Sounds like a good idea...or at least I thought so when I has the exact same idea last year (although mine was outside the station... Book 'em Dano you must be extra clever to have thought of it first!
  4. and the town of Council is only 700 people and Adams county is very small too. But, looks like several pages of caches based on the zipcode search. Its hard deciding on moving. talking with other idahoans helps. (inlaws live in Weiser)
  5. it would be clever to put the cache in the chief's office so he knows normal people play the game and he can observe. the cache could be called "Book 'em DANO"
  6. I thought the geocoin was for traveling and so didn't need to be traded for. if I'm wrong I got some adjusting to do.
  7. *snicker* Some of the caches drive me absolutely crazy when I can't find them.
  8. Party hat is on! PS. I really want to get to 20 caches so i can post a couple. I got to put them together though.......
  9. I was the victim of stale data. I went for a cache in Manteca. (a total of 3) when I got back to log my DNF turns out somebody had been there on the 31st and found shredded log book. So I got 2 dnf and 1 find. Amy
  10. well if we hurry we can make it an even 100 by the days end! Are we ther yet!?!?!?!?!?! Peace! Do we win a prize when we get there? The best prize is the satisfaction!!!!! What else do we need? how about cake and candles?
  11. have you played any thing like that?
  12. so what do you do when that happens? Try making a large circle around it with the needle pointing to the center of the circle. The cache will probably be somewhere near the middle of the circle. ah ha thanks...will remember that.
  13. so what do you do when that happens?
  14. I think that was the problem. I can't wait to go out and try it again. THANKS!
  15. I had the following issues today: (Garmin eTrex Legend) The needle that navigated...the point stayed in place but the middle line skipped over a bit, so the needle wasn't solid, it was broken. the point still pointed and acted like I thought I should. The needle was pointing the right direction, and I was walking briskly watching the distance reduce, then it started increasing. but the needle was still pointing the direction I was walking. (I was in a wide open spot too) When I am near something like a pumphouse or a well or big hunks of metal, and I can't get the needle to behave? I had 3 tries today. 1. I found 2. I called off due to the little one with me 3. I dnf but apparently I had stale data and the cache had been destroyed.
  16. Hey Alan. Would you mind not scaring the fish when you visit. LOL. So, did you get a BIG CATERPILLAR or a little Caterpillar? I just sold an old D4 and we sold a D6 a few years ago. Still have a JD 401D and we bring in the big rigs as needed. Maybe next time we rip, I'll place a cache in the 5 foot rut. That would give merit to the EBRP's belief that Geocachers dig up caches (and cut park fences). Speaking of caches, I'm dying to get out caching again. I've got a couple special stashes I've been thinking about plus it would be nice to be able to say I've done everything is Stockton. Of course at the rate caches are being planted up there... that's going to take me forever. There are a couple newer caches up there I've been aching to do. Just need the free time... bill you' ve been quiet lately! did you see I found Just Forum You and it needs a new log book?
  17. Partly. But think a minute. What is the whole point of geocaching? It's much more basic that just finding a box in the woods. It's funny how virtually everyone says "I like seeing new places" and it's true. The catch 22 is, those places where there for the finding before geocaching came along. However for most it took a box in the woods to get them there. In the end I do think a lot of it's about the box. More than some might want to admit. that sums it up for me. This arguement is a classic in all hobbies/trades/pasttimes....etc. its clearly evident in offroad circles, scrapbook circles, quilting societies, cooking, clothing, home decorating... what should the gold standard be? Usually, we choose our way as the gold standard because that is what makes us feel good. and anybody not towing our line indeed inflates our opinion that we have set or following the standard. the easiest way to deal with this is realize the game we play on the path we choose to play is not everybody's gold standard. the quicker we realize this the happier we will be. and here is some other advice from my dad: "You can never win a gut battle"
  18. Seems like narrow necks. its not any narrower than a film canister, by the way....LOL
  19. Seems like narrow necks. yeah but a pencil would fit LOL!
  20. how about these? they come with a disk to use in place of a nipple, for transporting liquids.
  21. well it would be nice, or if logs were searchable....ya know. *sigh* oh well.
  22. well, I guess i'm delusional. Its not all that hard to click on the cache pages.
  23. or am I delusional? I wonder if this is a feature ever considered or if it is on the "not in your lifetime" list. I really like to read the logs of certain users. is there an easier way to do it than searching through cache pages.
  24. ok, finally checked out the actual page. THats pretty cool!
