  1. I also want to add, that you can adopt an outdoor code already established and focus on geocaching specific situations. Like tresspassing, fairness, looking like a terrorists, etc.
  2. you know, I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but the book "Idiots Guide to Geocaching" really covers all this. I think the code of ethics is great but its getting a bit "longish" and "detailish" and many people aren't going to bother.
  3. poor bug, I promised him the world and didn't deliver. I'll drop him off I hope by the end of the weekend. poor little guy.
  4. Travel and recreate with minimum impact Respect the environment and the rights of others Educate yourself--plan and prepare before you go Allow for future use of the outdoors--leave it better than you found it Discover the rewards of responsible recreation
  5. if we have the opportunity, we should speak up to those who aren't following the code of ethics. EVANGELIZE. Also, did you follow my link to the Leave No Trace website? Should I get a pat on the back? There are little cards for TREAD LIGHTLY that you can leave as swag.
  6. It could always be ROUND 2! see how many times you can send him out and get him back.
  7. Plus, I didn't have time to find the ammo box. Anyway, here's the bug and I've had him for a month. I've emailed the owner 2x, so he knows where his bug is.edwardo I feel really bad, that I forgot to take him on the trip to Idaho from CA and I only had time for a virtual. So could I/should I log him in and out of the virtual? Because I messed up? I can find a cache for him this weekend to send him to somebody else.
  8. I found my 25th cache today! Lyons, and Tigers and Bears OH MY! I wish I had the monkey. I need to drop him off this weekend.
  9. If the trails are there and approved for their use, they should be allowed to use them. Its public land. It should also be available for you to geocache too.
  10. Ok. I found the cache listing I was looking for. My DNF is not listed. and I'm fairly sure I posted it. My DNF is not listed on the cache page or in MY CACHE page. but I also didn't receive a notice that it was deleted. I emailed the cache owner to see. The only options would be that My DNF log was deleted and I didn't get the notice or I forgot to log it. (which I doubt) we shall see. weird.
  11. Either I forgot or it was deleted. Now I can't even find the cache listing. I think I'm going crazy.
  12. wanted to say hi from Amador County native (I don't live there any more though) and sorry I can't help you. LOL!
  13. and I found the form on this website: California 4 x4 assn.
  14. excuse me for butting in, I found this related page while looking for something else. I wanted to pass it along. trail mapping form
  15. Here are some more links, all have to do with either Environmental Issues or land management or problems/solutions encountered in using public lands: California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs, Inc. Tread Lightly, leaving a good impression Blue Ribbon Coalition Friends of the Rubicon Leave No Trace
  16. I want to mention that IF it ever looks like it will be banned, that WE THE PEOPLE can form a lobbying group. The California 4WD association has done that. They lobby and have become political, when other special interest groups have pushing closing public land to off road recreation. We're not gonna take it! and we self regulate, and we tread lightly, and we leave no trace and we have a helluva good time doing it. ITS PUBLIC LAND PEOPLE! Since WHEN can the govt. tell you HOW TO ACT AND WHAT TO DO while recreating! I would hope for a HUGE outcry of protest if the govt. PTB ever did anything like that. Likely, it will be another group that steps up and pushes for banning geocaching. and we would push back.
  17. Hey Amy, Sorry to see you plans taking you so far away. I know Idaho is an interesting land though as my dad once lived there. I learned to ski at Bogus Basin - Boise, Idaho when I was 14. Oh, those fun filled night slopes at -10 degrees with a wind chill factor or -40 degrees. You've got to love it. Yes, the backpacking out of Idaho City over to Center Ville with real life Gold Miners even to this day! In the summer, there's tubing down the Boise River or shoot the rapids out at McCall. Then back to that wonderful snow packed winter - drifts going over the house... digging for hours to find the cars and then out to the street so you can drive to work but then having the wind kick up and ruin all your shoveling. Good memories here! Of course, it gets rather cold around here too. [burr] We'll be in Council if all goes well. It was very very cold there. It just gets colder, but at least its only about 3000 feet. I'm rather sad at leaving California and all the good and local geocaches, and all my roots. But happy to start a new life. But we won't be gone until spring, so I'll be around to bother you still.
  18. Back from Idaho, We placed an offer on a house in Council. Most likely they'll accept it, but since we're selling ours we asked for 90 days to close our house and another 15 to close thiers. We'll probably move in the spring, because Dh is framing a house.
  19. Hello From Cambridge Idaho!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I forgot to upload my GPS so I'm at the public library with scratch paper and a pencil. Talk about addicted. PS. I forgot the Stupid Monkey. See you guys later
