No set distances (+/-) but, if you are doing a multi, please list the total distance required to find the cache. I don't mind multi's, but I would like to know how far I'll be walking, what kind of time required, etc when doing a multi. Nothing worse that getting part way into a multi and finding you have to walk another "X" more miles when you are already "X" miles from the beginning.

I'll keep the date in mind. I'll be coming back from police instructional shoot that week, so we'll see what happens.

I bought my adapter from Wal-Mart for under $20.00

Mt Dave :
It's between Mountain Lake{Meadow Run] and Thornhurst.
Has picnic tables, shelters, and rest rooms
Choke creek Multi, and Rat Fink caches are nearby.
and a few others .
Its a nice area, although I haven't physically been in the park in a few years. Should be easy enough for everyone to find.
Of course there is always Rickets Glen or the Lake Jean area off Rt 118.

See "Adding a Picture to a Forum Post" in the Frequently Asked Questions thread that's pinned at the top of this forum.
Have your images hosted at a site of your choosing, click "insert image", cut and paste the url.....and wah-la or something like that

+1 or what they said.
I have an eTrex Legend, Palm 515 and use GSAK with CacheMate (and CacheNav) and everything works great.
-
Well, I guess the only way to make it happen, is to just do it. Make sure you are set up to recieve event caches. I'll go out and do some research tomorrow about a place where a meeting can be held. I'm going to shoot for something between Hazleton and Wilkes Barre, probably closer to Wilkes-Barre because of the whole population thing. I'll message mtndave, since he is from Mountaintop, and might have some suggestions.
Sounds like a great idea.

Found what I was looking for here Pc-Mobile GPS connection solutions (PDA and Garmin E)
The "GUEPZ7" looks like exactly what I need, and a little more. Connects my GPSr & PDA, and powers both from a vehicle.
-
Hmmmm, then how does one get CacheNav (with CacheMate) to work with a GPS???
-
Is there a way to connect both devices, such as a cable?

Took me a few minutes to figure out how to add new databases to the Palm, but w're all good now.
-
Yes, you can.
You can either put the two different areas in two databases on your Palm (are you using Cachemate ?), or put your "normal" files in the Default "Not Found" folder, and the other caches in a new folder.
When I am doing things like that, I Export the files from GSAK based on two separate Center Points in my large database, or from two different databases in GSAK.
I might export one file and call it "031406_Away.pdb" and "031406_Default.pdb." That way when Cachemate searches the card for the files, I'll know which one is which, and where I want to put it.
Thanks. Yes, I'm using GSAK and cachemate. I'll give it a try.

Can you load two (or more) databases into a Palm? I want to load one for "home" and another for a town where I'll be taking a training class for a week.

http://groups.msn.com/PoconoGeocachers
Here is the address to the Pocono Geocachers.
I am not in that area now but my parents are and they are the ones that got me into caching.
That area kind of mixes in with the Lehigh Valley Geocachers. They are at...
There are many geocachers from the W-B and surrounding areas. Bumped into several, been invited on several hunts (due to my work schedule I could not go), always a veru cordial and friendly bunch.

I have a garmin etrex legend, plain jane unit, practicaly discontinuied due to the serial port connection it requires. The store where I bought it wanted to sell me $100 program to download topo maps on to my unit, which only has 8mgs storage capacity.
my questions are 1. is the software worthwhile?
2. is there a less expensive alternative?
3. how much area will 8 mgs give me?
I have the eTrex Legend (blue) with the 8mg memory. I bought the package deal, GPSr, carrier, car charger, topo maps, etc. It suits me just fine. I have 16 maps plus almost 400 waypoints saved on my Legend and it shows only 19% of the memory used.
-
Its also on page #25 of the eTrex Legend owners manual.

Get one of the Palm m500 series off ebay. They're all over the place.
We just bought one of the m515s off of ebay, can't wait to go paperless!!! Team Lucky showed me his the other day and it was great, which prompted us to go look for one.

i need to know where to buy camo tape or if i need it or if i dont i have a tupperware im gonna hide but it has a white cap and its clear so it would need some kinda camo?
Any sporting goods store should have it. I bought some rolls of cloth camo tape in Wal-Mart. Look in and around the camo clothes or gun accessories. With turkey season coming up, you should find plenty.

Team LPD consists of three members; me , my wife and our dog Nikki
The log will be signed by a combination of the above.

The main mode of transportation is a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is partially pictured here, along with the other 2/3'rds of Team LPD, my wife Diane and our GSD Nikki.
A secondary mode of tranportation would be a 1991 Nissan pick up, no pic available at this time.

Its the adapter not the GPS. I'll wait a day or two to see what Garmin says.

Some finds have been done soley by me, others have been with my wife. The vast majority of the finds have been with Nikki and I because of the terrain/difficulty factor.
