  1. Ok, new problem ... I took the 4 USGS DEM maps for the Northern Virginia/DC/MD area, converted to mp files, combined the 4 files in mapedit into one 360M mp file, added water data, and got everything to convert into an img file of about 50M. Then tried to view it in MapSource and load it into my GPS. MapSource sees the file, but when I tried to zoom in or load it into my GPS MapSource started crashing ... any ideas? After the first crash I checked and upgraded to the latest MapSource version and it still crashed. Thanks ...

Not sure what is going on. What gps unit do you have? Also have you tried to load other img files with success? Does mapsource load other garmin maps like navigator or topo with success? Maybe some of these answers will help me out.

Using a GPSMAP 60 CX with a 512MB SD card. MapSource loads street maps fine. When it comes to my new topo, it crashes ...

I am planning on making the topo into two smaller files to test the file size but don't know what else to try.

Thanks for looking at this ...

  3. Just a note to Malaysian cachers or those who may visit ...

I dropped a Green Jeep Travel Bug into GCKEK5 Taman Negara II cache hoping it will move around the country and thru southeast Asia.

while you are there visiting this cache, be sure to enter the park and go to the canopy walk. It is awesome ...

  4. Displeased with the quality of a cache? :P

    Then leave this coin!! :D

     :o  :P  :o  :D

    D-man :(

Too funny!!! I know some caches (and cachers) that need it though :D

This to me looks like if no coin is coming, it is something that could be laminated and used in a good many places around here too ...

  5. And a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

May all your searches result in finds ...

May you have many chance meetings along the way ...

May you see many beautiful places and learn lots of new things ...

And may you be safe and healthy for years to come ...

    Happy Caching ... :P

And maybe in the new year I will become less html deficient ... couldn't get color or size changes to work ... think I'll just stick to hunting tupper in the woods ... it is easier :P

  6. I haven't been activating my keeper coins largely because I don't want to deal with that long list.

One solution I have heard about is to create a second Groundspeak nick (some use a variation to their primary nick) and then they use the second account for activating their coins (and TBs). Both accounts are set up with the same email so movement is reported to the owner.

I have not done this yet, and from previous posts in this forum and anxiously awaiting the Groundspeak solution ...

  7. Dropped White Jeep Travel Bug "Mickey" in Korea on a recent vacation .. but not sure where it is now ... hoped it would travel over the country for a while but it has been picked up and not dropped as of yet ...

  8. Hi all,

I am coming into Korea for a short visit arriving Nov 2nd and departing Nov 12th. I would like to hit a few caches if possible while I am there.

I am also bringing a White Jeep with me to drop and hopefully tour around the country...

Hope to run into some local cachers during my visit...
