  1. Thanks everyone!

#100 ended up being "Wintergreen" in CT.

The first 100 have been great! Geocaching has taken us to places we never would have known about otherwise. It has brought my wife and I closer, seeing that this is an activity we both enjoy very much. We've met some really nice people as well.

Hope to meet more of you along the caching trail-

Thanks to all who have placed caches and given us something to look for. Also a big thank you to those who go and search for our caches, we enjoy reading the logs. The feedback is helpful for when we place future caches.

    Thanks again!!

We will be placing a "100th Clelebration Cache" soon-- Keep on the lookout.

  2. My wife and I stumbled upon a cache (Bear Mt. Memories, now archived) during our wedding ceremony on top of the Mountain. It was a "take something leave nothing cache". Apparently each item in the cache had personal signifigance to the owner. The instrucions were to take an item, then email the owner telling him which item you selected. He'd then email back, explaining the signifigance of the item. Never did receive any reponse from the cache owner, so the signifigance remains a mystery.

  3. The chip is one of the Geocoins (I refer to them as Geochips) that Crusso designed and ordered. They were made by a poker chip company. I was in on the initial order and picked up 50. I leave them in every cache I visit. (Mostly CT, Westchester, and Putnam County caches, although one made it to NH) In fact, Crusso was kind enough to give permission (since it was his artwork) to the company to print 300 more for us, which we are expecting soon.

They seem to be the first thing people take. We will be creating a travel bug out of one soon. We will continue to place in caches until we run out. (Of course, we'll keep a few for ourselves) icon_wink.gif

  5. We had a great time- Great weather, tough mountain, (I've had enough chest high grass walking for a while) nice to meet other Geocachers. The Geopups won the event. Congrats, again, guys.

The only snag was that we weren't given enough time to enter the coordinates, IMO. Originally the plan was 45 minutes, but it ended up being only twenty minutes or so. Tough to enter those coordinates on the fly!!

That being said, we were able to find seven prize cards and came a way with two pairs of Bolle sunglasses, two passes for Killington 2002-3 season, Topzone software, a Garmin hat, and a pair of Bushnell binoculars!!

Thanks to all the organizers and sponsors. A tremendous job. Looking forward to the next one.

  7. No offense taken. I used to snicker at people using treking poles, that is, until I used them. They are invaluable to my knees when going downhill with a heavy pack. I use them mostly for backpacking trips. Plus, they are useful for putting in places I'd be wary to put my hand in while searching for a Geocahce, such as inside rock walls or inside hollow trees. Also, I can't count how many times they've saved my in mid-ankle roll.
