Haven't seen any of us, but I have seen a few "locals", namely Planet, 1Naturegirl, Barefoot and Lisa S.
Guess I'm too scary for the front page-
There are some good shots of Ben they could choose though..

Hey bigcall,
Beside caching, I am sort of into coin collecting. The best place to get those coins is to make the rounds of several branch banks and ask for them. Sometimes you can just call the bank and ask. That would be the cheapest way. Also check the U.S.Mint.org. I believe you can buy them by the roll.
Yup-
Also, give Ebay a try. (GASP!!) I have had good luck and gotten some pretty decent deals there.

Well, I am not one--
However, I WOULD like to take time here to thank a Geocacher (shall be nameless unless I get the Ok to put the name here) who is an EMT.
A bunch of cachers were taking a course over the weekend that took place at a fellow cachers house.
Upon leaving, my cousin was T-boned by a car as he left the street near the house.
The cacher, who also happened to be our instructor for the day, heard the accident and in a flash grabbed their medical kit and was helping out/checking on those invloved in the accident. To our surprise the Cacher turned out to be an EMT as well!
Thankfully, no one was hurt too badly.
So, thank you, our caching guardian angel, for really taking care of us that day.
Your fast thinking could have very well saved the day, and you calmed all of us just being there.
I'm proud to associate myself with you, you've proved once again that cachers are amongst the best people around!
Thanks to you once again, and to all of you invloved in this field.

...
If someone isn't fast enough to get the FTF, that just means they need to be lucky and quick to beat their competition.
...
Well, this is more than being fast enough. Let's face it, some people are either retired or have a work schedule ( works nights, shiftwork, etc. ) that puts them in a better position to be FTF.
CT Trampers said above that "Everyone has an equal and fair shot at being FTF." - that's hardly the case with the above situation, isn't it?
I meant "equal and fair" in that the cache is approved and listed for all to see at the same time.
Obviously many cachers have work, family, and other obligations that may get in the way of them going right out.
And, for the record, I have a full time job AND a family-
-
Recently, he just sits back, and waits for the first couple finders, or he waits a couple days, he only goes for FTF anymore if he really feels it's necessary.
What would make it necessary?
-
There are some people that are just highly competitive and it makes their day to think that they beat everyone else at something.
I think it is a mistake to assume that this why cachers go for FTF.
We are one of the FTF "obsessors" around here, and I assure you I do not go caching at all hours of the day just so I can feel better than someone else.
It is a challenge and it is fun.
For all of you that keep getting beat to the FTF, let me ask you this:
If you had the time to go caching whenever you wanted, and were FTF on a lot of local caches, would you honestly "sit back" and wait for someone else to find it first? Honestly??
Everyone has an equal and fair shot at being FTF.
Sounds like a bit of sour grapes, IMHO.

Congrats to you Joe!!
Here is to 700 more- Looking forward to getting back to the Island soon.

I guess as a neebie I have a question. Shouldn’t the owner be cleaning this stuff out of the cache. I would think they could collect the cards (or discard them) and any of the things that have not moved in a while. Plus, what is the etiquette for stuff to leave? I recently found half a broken roller skate. I left something and took it just because it was clogging up the cache.
Yes, it is the responsibility of the cache owner to do regular maintenance on their caches, and removing innappropriate stuff, or stuff that hasn't moved in a while, is a part of that.
Half broken skate: not cool.
Taking the skate and leaving something in its place: VERY cool of you-

The other day a cacher and I were discussing how some items never seem to be traded for in caches. Visit a bunch of caches in the same area, and you'll likely see these same "unwanted" items in each of them.
I'm not talking about the obvious things such as band-aids, cigs, golf balls, used movie tickets, etc., but items that just never seem to get traded for.
They may not have even been put there as a trade, but left as a "sig" item.
One of the biggest cache cloggers around here seem to be Madi Gras beads.
Anyone else have a good "cache clogger" to add to the list?
And yes, I know, for many of us it is "just about the hunt", but I figured this could be an interesting topic.

El Diablo-
Best of luck in whatever you decide to do. Like someone else said, I feel extremely lucky to have been able to purchase one. Now I'll have to put it in a glass case-
All the Best,

Awesome! Here's to the next 600!
-
Can't wait to get ours either. We plan on putting one in as a FTF prize in one or our new caches also.
-
Cool idea, count me in.

A most excellent looking coin. Ordered 6. One for us, the rest we will get circulating here on the East coast.
Thanks for making these available!

Hi Dave-
I don't know the percentages, but I have had it.
This past October Carol noticed the "bulls eye" rash on my leg, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed until I started feeling ill. I got on the antibiotics and knock on wood I've felt fine.
I hope you've caught it quick, and wish you the best, Lyme is nothing to take lightly.
Take care and be well.
Ok, I'll venture a guess. 5%?

I'm in!! (for both the caching AND drinking)
The 29th would be better, but I'm open to both dates.
-
Congrats Mopar!!
Glad I could be there with you-
Here's to 600 more!!
Hmmm, sounds like an excuse for Wings and Beer to me!!
-
Look at how many cachers just upload a bunch of waypoints and hunt blind. They will get home wiht their cool FTF prize and then read the cache page...
EXCELLENT point. Always good to get someone else's thoughts, thanks!
-
Isn't it odd to have coordinates for an event cache cache, before the event?
yes it is. [] Apologies for not being specific enough. I'm talking about caches that have been placed and approved before the actual event date.
-
Is it cool to take a FTF prize from a cache placed for a specific event cache BEFORE the event?
Personally, I wouldn't do it, but have noticed others who have.
Is this cool or not?
I vote not, FWIW.
-
Awesome!!! Congrats, Joe-- You are FLYING--
Maybe 1000 by this time next year?
Here's to 500 more, looking forward to seeing you at the L.I. Summer event!

Problem solved.
The tag was indeed a duplicate. Once that was determined, admin emailed saying that they'll be mailing a replacement tag to me.
Thanks to Admin for helping out and finding a solution!

Thanks for the link wrlwnd, I have emailed TPTB.
-
I picked up a Yellow Jeep T.B. at a recent event cache in Ct.
We want to place it in one of our caches this weekend, but when I entered the T.B.'s code from the tag to "grab" it something strange showed on the page.
Seems that this bug was placed in a cache in Oklahoma on 06/21/04, and picked up by a cacher 06/24/04.
I have emailed the cacher who grabbed the T.B. and asked that they verify the code on the tag.
Could it be that we have duplicate T.B. tags?
Strange....

You are SOOOO correct with that statement.
The "hip" thing to say is it isn't about the numbers, at least around here.
Kind of like no one wants to admit that they like watching TV.
