Hi, buddy, I failed to download waypoints or tracks from my Garmin Etrex gps to my pocket PC. I will appreciate your help to this issue.
I want to download waypoints or tracks from the GPS before they are erased due to a full memory. I know I can do it on my PC with a Garmin interface cable and some software such as "easygps". However, I would like to do so with my PDA, a Dell Axim X5 running PPC 2003. I got a serial cable from pocketmapstore.com for connecting etrex gps with axim X5, here is the link of the cable:

Now everything works fine if I just use the GPS-PDA-cable kit for navigation. The GPS interface is set to NEMA mode (baud rate 4800), and both mapopolis and oziexplorerCE can receive the signal from the GPS.
However, when I try to download waypoints and tracks from the GPS, the GPS interface needs to set to Garmin mode (baud rate 9600). I tried both oziexplorerCE and G7ToCE, neither of them can communicate with the GPS.
oziexplorerCE complains "failure to communicate with the gps", and G7ToCE complains "serial port time out". I am sure it is NOT a problem of my GPS, as I have succeeded downloading to my PC in Garmin mode. So I am suspecting the serial cable i got from pocketmapstore does not support communication in Garmin mode with baud rate 9600, or some driver is required. I checked the document of oziexplorerCE, seems they are suggesting using some "null modem" to make a serial cable for connecting the GPS with pocket pc. I am not sure what is the difference between such a cable with the cable I am using.
In a summary, my questions are following:
1. Anybody succeeds downloading waypoints directly to his/her PDA from a Garmin GPS? what kind of cable and what software you are using?
2. Is is possible to download waypoints when the GPS is set to NEMA mode? (as in NEMA mode, the kit I have works fine.) and any software for pocket pc supports such operation?
