  1. I have a question about the possibility of downloading multiple cartridges with one click. Is there a way to do this, similar to a pocket query or something? I made a pq of all the Wherigo caches in Minnesota and Iowa, which resulted in 75 caches. I would like to download all the cartridges for them to my computer, so I would have them if I decide to play one. It looks like a lot of work to get them all individually. I can do it, but I thought if I could get them all at once, it would be easier.
  2. The library cache I found would never get checked out. There is no bar code on it, no title, just a sticker with the call # on the spine. You can tell it's not actually a book as soon as you pick it up. It's way too light. It's in the non-fiction section, in an area that probably doesn't get a lot of attention anyway.
  3. Count me in with those asking for the distance to be included in all notifications. That's one thing I miss. Otherwise, they look OK to me. I'm not sure what is meant by "green text on a white background". My notifications have had black text in an off-white box. Having the option of HTML or plain text would also be great. I don't care too much either way, but I can see why some do.
  4. It's not just the older travel bugs. I've seen a lot of newer ones, too, that can be confusing. I'm not sure if they ever did omit those letters.
  5. What I've seen a time or two, is to have a multi or puzzle with a stage outside telling where to find it in the building. I just found one yesterday, apparently there is a stage at the posted coords with the info to find the cache in the library. The info was also hidden on the cache listing, which is where I found it. The cache itself is a fake book on the library shelf (placed with permission, of course). I thought it was pretty neat. I think Groundspeak's official position on it is there needs to be a stage somewhere that you need navigation equipment for.
  6. It was before the update. It was at the bottom, with all the links.
  7. I don't think placing one qualifies. You'd have to find one. BTW, why are you shouting?
  8. I'd go with "mystery". I've found a few series like that.
  9. Trackables do sometimes show up again. I recently had one that had disappeared in Florida show up in a cache in Washington state. One can always hope.
  10. I think they must be coming from the Platinum member forums. Could be. Too bad I let my Platinum membership expire. I could go set them straight.
  11. You could always put the info in the cache description. I've seen some where the CO mentioned averaging the coords, and what the estimated accuracy was. That's more important than what unit they used, anyway. My Etrex 20 can be as accurate as 8', or as far out as 30' or more, depending on the weather and terrain.
  12. Glad to help. Welcome to geocaching. I hope you continue to enjoy it.
  13. Sounds like they are taking some advisement on this one. Please stay tuned. Compare, contrast, with the reply I got from the Lilypad:- The arrogance is mind-boggling. Sorry, Moun10bike, while I'd love to believe the Frog is listening to us, the actions and words from HQ tell a different story. Groundspeak's PR is amazing, isn't it?
  14. Somewhere farther back in this discussion, Moun10Bike said that this will be added next week (I believe) during the next site update. Apparently the new emails are dependent on another change that won't be released until the next site update. It all seems backwards to me... Edit: Found Moun10Bike's post here and updated my post accordingly. Now you mention it, I do remember reading that. I hope it happens soon.
  15. You forgot to highlight your change to the subject line in red. Thanks.
  16. On my computer, the file path to the GPX files is "F:\Garmin\GPX".
  17. I use the GSAK program to manage my pocket queries. It has a "send to GPS" feature that works pretty good.
  18. Wow! 3 pages in the first day! This must be a hot topic. I just got my first instant notification email since the update, and while I like some things about it, it definitely needs some work. My main issue is the way the subject line changed so drastically, and also that it doesn't tell me what the log type was. Only by clicking on the link to the log can I see what type of log it is (temp disabled in this case). Why can't they tell me that in the email? This is what I'd rather see. The red lines are my suggested additions. Here's one I got a couple days ago. I personally don't have a problem with the HTML (it looks cleaner to me), but for those who do, I would definitely support having it as an option.
  19. I haven't received any notifications since the change, but why should the subject line be any different? It doesn't seem like HTML should need to affect that.
  20. You might get more help with GSAK by posting your question in the GSAK forum. Groundspeak forums don't really cover it.
  21. What I've wondered, about the "no email" thing, is how does Groundspeak notify the cacher when his log is deleted? Does he actually keep looking up the cache after he's logged it?
  22. That shouldn't be too hard for me. The more difficult one will be the "Nature Lover" (CITO or Earthcache). I've attended 2 CITOs and found 1 or 2 Earthcaches in the time I've been geocaching. Interesting, also, that that category includes a type that, around here anyway, is basically the same as a traditional cache.
  23. I just downloaded my weekly PQ to GSAK. It worked for me just like it always did with the attachment; click the link and I get an option to save the file or open it in GSAK. My area has just enough activity that my PQ (caches published or logged in the past week) is right around 500, sometimes more and sometimes less. In the past, sometimes my email would have an attachment, and sometimes just a link, depending how much activity was in the area. This new system saves a step if I have over 500 caches in the PQ. I like it.
  24. I use NeonGeo if I'm caching with my phone. Normally I use my Etrex, but that's beside the point here. I personally don't like using apps (like the one mentioned above, with the : in the name), that aren't supported by GC. Use one that gets its info properly. I think the 3 caches per day would be on any app, with the possible exception of C:geo (since it basically steals the data from GC.com).
  25. Like has been said, Google is a great tool. Wikipedia can also be a big help. Think about the title, how it goes with the description, how the picture and title could be related, etc. Look for anything in the description that seems to be worded a little strangely or awkwardly. Sometimes simply clicking on the picture can help you out. One trick that fooled me once was what's referred to as "white text". Hold the mouse button and swipe down the description to select all the text, and see if anything shows up that wasn't there before. Just one of many possibilities. As has also been said, an email to the owner can be helpful. I've gotten help a few times that way. Once you've solved a few puzzles, it seems to become a little easier.
