  1. I have had a PN-40 for almost two years and have loved it. I did have problems last year with connectivity, and support sent me a shorter cable. No problems after that. Then, a couple of months ago my husband had to rebuild my computer basically. Since then, I have not been able to get my PN-40 to be recognized by my computer at all. I use to love Cache Register, but you can't even find it online now (we still had my old files, so we installed it, but it won't recognize the GPS). I hate to give up on it. I really like it. Any tricks anyone knows or has discovered for making the computer recognize the device?

Ugh! Hate it just because of the satellite view issues. I really rely on that view and it rarely loads, unless you want a view zoomed out extremely far. If I try to zoom in, I get either huge chunks of missing data on the page (about 75%) or nothing at all. Very annoying.
  3. >>Remember that direct sharing of "My Finds" files or other pocket query files is not allowed under the TOU. I don't understand how what I am suggesting is in violation of the TOU. Once someone has "friended" you, you are able to see all their finds, as well as other information about them. You cannot see this without them having given permission for you to see it. So a side-by-side comparison of finds or DNF's of your friends shouldn't be a violation of anything.
  4. >>Make certain the unit is setup for wgs84 as the datum and decimal minutes as the coordinate format. And how do I do that?? >>Which version of the Legend?? No clue. It is blue and simply says Legend. I don't know which Legend beyond that.
  5. I'm relatively new to geocaching, and brand new to using a GPS (got one basic for Xmas and another through Craig's list). I didn't have a book with my Legend that I brought from someone, but I've figured it out for the most part. However, when I try to load a waypoint/geocache, sometimes it won't let me put in the exact coordinates that are listed for the geocache. For example, if it is 30 degrees 08.698, it lets me start putting it in, but then won't let me put in the 698 (it's always the last three numbers I have trouble with, if I do have any trouble). It will sometimes let me do other numbers, but not all of them. Should I just round up or down to the nearest thing it will let me put in? For instance, in the example above, put in 08.700 instead of 08.698? Of course, sometimes it won't let me put in that either, so what do I put in, 08.800 or try to go down to 08.599? As I said, it's always the seconds that give me the problem and always the first of the three numbers. Any suggestions/help?
  6. I am a fairly new geocacher, and I got my husband and several other people interested in it as well. My husband and I, as well as one of our friends, are very competitive people. I would like to see as an option for premium members, a side-by-side comparison of users and their caches. Think XBox Live gamer point system. You can compare yourself against any one other gamer friend, see what games they have played, and how many and which ones of the gamer points they have gotten. I'd like something similar to look at, at a glance. I know the red check marks indicate ones you have in common, but a side-by-side comparison would look neat. Maybe be able to compare you to two other cachers at a glance? I just think it takes too many clicks and steps to get down to looking at my husband's (or anyone's) cache list, and think it would be great if you could get to it in a click or two instead, as a premium member. Just a suggestion.
  7. Has anyone purchased the Geomate Jr update kit (which apparently only consists of a cable to connect it to your computer)? Is it really worth the extra $25, or is it really not worth the trouble ?
  8. In Jacksonville, off I-295 south on San Jose, The Tree is good for steaks. Clark's Fish Camp is priceless -- it's like a museum -- plus they have a 2" thick prime rib (Jack's cut is 3 lbs!) that is amazing. They are in sort of the same neighborhood as The Tree.
  9. I am a nOOb and have only found two caches so far, but that's because 1) I just started two days ago, 2) I don't own a GPS yet (it's on the way). My daughter, who is a member, is hunting with me, and I was wondering, when I log a find and *I* am the one who actually finds it, does my daughter also log the find? In other words, if several people hunt together, only one person actually puts their hands on the cache first, so who logs what? Thanks!
