  1. Is it turning completely off or is the screen going dark because of the power saving backlight timeout? I used to set my timeout to always on. It's shutting down completely Definitely sounds like a sick unit. Call Garmin (expect to hold) but their customer service is very good and they'll probably have you send it in and you'll get your replacement in just a few days. Make sure to remove your batteries, memory card, lanyard etc because they'll probably send out a new one & they'll give you new unlock codes for any of your maps. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

  3. I'm having problems with my unit. Every time I turn it on, it turns itself off seconds later. I've tried new batteries, and plugging it in to an external power supply. Has anybody had similar issues, or is it pooched?
  4. "I don't think I'll participate in ever again" You might not remember this but at the end of the day you agreed to do this again next year! Your right I don't remember. I'm amazed you do.
  5. We definately pulled all our trash out. I'm a little nuts about that especially in the area we were caching. It was fun, but a lot of work carrying one guy back to the cabin.
  6. A friend of mine set up a private course for a bunch of us cachers to seek out one Saturday AM. We each had to supply one cooler with just enough liquor for one drink for each person in the group. Well nobody wants to be though of as a tight wad so there was a little more than expected. The Caches also each had a separate theme, some included some food, and one even had tunes. It was a beautiful day and we had an intoxicating adventure that I don't think I'll participate in ever again. We did have a DD (Thank God) I won't post pictures to protect the innocent.
  7. I'm wondering if it is considered bad etiquette to bring TB's back to my cache? I realize that if it's not helping a specific mission to keep hands off, but if not just to move them along, and bring a little action to my cache.

    Thanks for the help.

    Acronyms?

I've gone to the FAQ post pinned above regarding getting started. The links to other web sites explaining the acronyms are no longer working. Is there somewhere else I can go to get up to speed? What is an FTF?
