  1. I just purchased a nuvi 1450 and would like to download local geocaches. How do I go about it and can I do pocket queries? Regards, Pete
  2. My Garmin Oregon 450 had a display at the top of the screen that showed the distance and direction of the cache I was looking for but is no longer displaying the distance and direction to the cache. How do I get this information back on the screen? Thanks, Pete
  3. Okay, give me a Dope Slap; I had that on my favorittes list and didn't see it. Thanks, Pete I don't have an Oregon, but I've seen some other cachers recommend this website to help with questions like this. http://garminoregon.wikispaces.com/Geocaching Hope that helps out
  4. I know there is a way to download cache's to my Oregon 450 but I've forgotten how. Please let me know where to look for directions. Thank you, Pete
  5. Just received my Garmin 450. I can't seem to get the batch download going and doing them one at a time could take all day. What are the steps to do a batch download? Thanks, Pete
  6. Not the 400T, rather the 450. The 400T is an older generation. Get's confusing. Thanks. I found a deal for $341 before the $50 rebate on another thread here. I've ordered the Oregon 400 and should receive it yet this week. One more time. That was the 450 you ordered for that price, right? As for your 60CSx, you might want to talk to local cachers. Those using the older eTrex models might find it an appealing upgrade. Yes, it is the 450. My typing finger must have been fixated on the 400. I don't know a lot of cachers around here but it should be easy enough to contact those people that have left caches in the area through the geocaching web site. Thanks for the idea.

  8. Okay, you have convinced me. Where do I go to find the Oregon 400t for $300, with the rebate? Thanks
  9. After 100 finds, I decided I really want to go paperless. I purchased a Palm M500 on eBay only to find it doesn't work with Windows 7 and have decided to change GPS devices. Looking at handhelds, I have narrowed it down to the Oregon line. I'm considering the Oregon 200; are there any advantages to the 300, 400, etc. that I should consider before purchasing a new GPS and selling my six month old GPSmap 60CSx? Thanks, Pete
  10. Thanks for the link to GSAK macro, I've bookmarked it for future reference. I am not sure that I can use it as I am using a Garmin map card, instead of the Garmin computer map. As I understand it, the card should not be written to, or over. I have placed a bid on eBay for a PDA and hope to use it in conjunction with my GPSmap 60CSx. Regards, Pete
  11. I'm not sure what a Palm M500 is but I'll goggle them and see what I can find. Thanks for the lead. Pete
  12. My brother has a Garmin nuvi which has the Hints and some logs available to him while he is geocaching. Is there a way to have this feature on my GPSmap 60CSx?
  13. Thanks. It looks like I will be able to get everything I need there. That really makes my day! Pete
  14. I have no experience with a GPS or geocaching,. I live in south-central Indiana and I just received my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx from Amazon today. I plan to start learning about my new toy this weekend and hope to get to the point that I can go geocaching in the Brown County state forest someday. I hope to find some easy geocaches locally and ultimately be able to go into the back country of southern Indiana. Which maps should I purchase from Garmin in order to best utilize the features of my GPS? Any tips on the use of my GPSMAP 60CSx would be much appreciated. Best regards, Pete
