  1. I have an Oregon 550 and I have had battery issues....I can put brand new batteries in and they show maybe 2/3 full charge....I got rechargeable batteries, put in charger overnight. Put in GPS, shows 2 bars of battery. Bought new Charger & new batteries. Charged 4 batteries overnight in new charger. Put in GPS show 1-2 bars charge...SOOOOO frustrating..... bonblu
  2. I have been itching to get back into geocaching again.. according to my stats of found geocaches, I must have this fever the beginning of EVERY year...lol!! But,this year I want to make it a more regular activity......there are so many geocaches around that I've never explored, and yes....many that I've searched for and never found....I know the weather is going to get cold and nasty, but heck....THAT is when I'll look for footprints!! (teeheehee!!) My hubby, (CRU), and my mom and dog (my "crew") have gone another day with me.....fun searching with all of them..... I am working on some new caches to hide in our area....have submitted a few in the last week.....(hoping for approval soon)and working on some more fun hide ideas... hoping my geo fever will catch my brothers again (and continue with my "cru")....... Happy New Year...and Happy Caching!!!
  3. Looks like Topo US 100K and Birdseye satellite imagery are enabled....
  4. What maps do you have loaded? Are they Routeable? Did it used to work? yes it did work before. it showed all the maps...
  5. I've been getting this message the last 2 days:"route calculation error: maps do not have rout able roads in this area." How do I fix this? (There are roads all around me....) Thanks!
  6. We hosted our family reunion this weekend and my brother and I hid 30 geocaches around the farm and sent 3 teams of 6 or 7 people, each after 10 unique caches. It was fun to watch them trying to figure out what they were looking for. I have a feeling a few more will get involved with geocaching when they get back to their home towns..... They had a blast....and just shook their heads when we gave them little "hints" to the ones they couldn't find....and found them! (I admit, a few of them were tricky!!) bonblu
  7. I had one of these in my hand on Saturday, but ended up putting it back on the shelf. I think they were $4.89. Thought that was a decent price, but didn't know how they would hold up...Maybe I'll go get one and try hiding it and see how it does. It can't be any worse than some of the others I've found re: getting wet, etc..... And if it only lasts a year, or two, it's not that expensive!
  8. Looks like I need to get busy....I've found 150+ caches, but NONE in a December!! I also have goose-eggs on the 4th, 15th, 16th, 24th, 29th and 31st...and "1" on the 1st, 3rd, 11th and 28th... Still have time to fix the December thing (not sure about the 24th tomorrow, as we are hosting my inlaws for Christmas tomorrow!); but think I can take care of the 28th, 29th and 31st.... Go me!! lol!! bonblu
  9. I like the way you think!! Think I'll buy the BIG bottle...teeheehee!!
  10. I have ordered and received my first travel bugs. I have ideas for 2 of the 4 bugs..... Is there a place to look existing bugs up by name? (I don't want to name mine the same as someone else.....) Thanks, Beth
  11. oops...sent you a message before I finished reading the previous responses to your post! sorry!! Happy Caching!! Beth
  12. Great. Thanks! My supplier has them, but in a pkg of 1000...would take me and my 2 geobrothers quite a while to use that many!) B
  13. ...the kind in the very small containers??? (I've seen them in some of the micros, but wasn't sure where everyone buys them.) I can get some from one of my supplier's for my candy bouquet biz, but the smallest they sell is a 2 x 3" bag. I will keep looking. Thanks, beth
  14. Dear Santa, Thanks for everything! I'm getting a new to me Oregon 550t. (Thanks to one of my geocaching brothers!!) I'm getting 4 travel bugs. (Purchased for myself... My wish list: --Have my DH take an interest in geocaching (Can any of you make that gift happen?? lol!) (He thinks you can't/don't get exercise while caching.....if he'd ever agree to go with me, I'd be sure to find a good, long hiking cache or two to search for...teeheehee!) --Some nice, big cache containers to hold lots of lucky items (sticking with my "want to get lucky theme" of my 2 hidden caches) Happy Thanksgiving! bonblu
  15. going on a cruise to cozumel next week, and on our day in port, I thought it would cool to find just one geocache. (It would be my first outside of the USA!)When I do a search on Mexico, Cozumel is not a secondary choice. Does that mean there are none there? Thanks, Beth
  16. i could have used a band-aid or two, before when i've been out...teeheehee!!
  17. Zipcode search should find the nearest caches to the center of the zipcode but not limited to that zipcode. If you did a 20 mile radius there would most assuredly be many zip codes included in the results. Does that answer your question or did I misunderstand? thanks. but i used to do a search on this zip code and there are LOTS of caches within it (from center)....the nearby zip results that it gave me are probably more like 13 miles away.... the local ones don't show up...? some that should show up within this radius: cabinetland, bark!bark!bark!, JYSC #1, VUJC, WallyWorld....just to name a few that i've found in the past... bonblu

  20. i tried a search by zip code this morning for the town i work in (zip=47546) and searched a 3 mile radius. it brought up 4 caches, in a different (nearby) zip code....anyone know why that happened? thanks, bonblu
  21. been itching to get back to geocaching now that i'm done planning/having our big summer parties (first a 3 day family reunion and 2 weeks later--this past weekend, a 3 day 4th of july backyard campout/pig roast).... but it's too hot to wear long pants to venture into the woods, and i'm worried about the poison ivy/oak i look at and get...... .....guess i just need to venture farther from home and grab some of the p and g's......(would like to get a few more cemetaries logged, but some aren't well maintained)....how do you know this before you go?? bonblu
  22. .....and the thing i was most worried about was coming home with poison ivy or poison oak.....lol!!
  23. last night went out with grandkids and found 3 caches before i had to meet their mom and send them home....i went back out and found 4 more....looked for 1 other one, but didn't find it...... i had climbed a small bank to try and locate that "other one", didn't make any progress, so decided to go back across the road......but on my way down the bank i slid/slipped in the mud and landed smack down on my knee on the gravel road....OUCH!! i looked at my knee and thought...."wow, that probably ought to be stitched up!"......and then the knee went numb....uh-oh...."broken knee cap?" was my next thought....i hit it HARD on that rock....it immediately swelled up....i headed to the nearest town and went to cvs for peroxide.... today i got in to the doctor, he said "hmmm.....that probably should have been stitched up....." lol!! ordered x-rays and recommended me to ortho surgeon.... x-ray results: no fracture! YAY!!! going to ortho tomorrow to get fluid drained (hopefully)..... so, the gravel road won last night's round, but i guess i won the fight!! i'll be geocaching again soon...... beth
  24. it's telling me to see if the software for this program has a DEP compatible version.....??? thanks, bonblu
