  1. I was way behind in my logging and had several hundred drafts that I was working my way through (a few more each day). Tonight I was working in the New Page version of drafts (in the past I always opted out and used the old version) and accidently clicked Delete All instead of deleting only one cache. ALL of my drafts are gone!!!! Is it possible for geocaching.com to restore ALL my drafts that were deleted today? Why oh why wouldn't they have a followup button called ARE YOU SURE? when you select Delete All. IMHO it is a poor design to have the Delete All button so close to anything else you might click. My drafts covered several GPS units so it is not possible for me to simply upload my current geocache_visits.txt file to get back all of the unlogged caches.
  2. I would call Garmin's tech support. Ask to speak to a senior advisor as the entry techs don't have any idea what they are doing. There should not be a problem with the size. I have a 16gig card in mine and it works. I emailed Garmin support and after several email back and forth, they advise it should work and support has no idea why it doesn't. the support rep was going to escalate to his manager and get back to me. That was a week ago and they haven't replied............. The Monterra is a piece of crap. A nice idea and has the potential to be an interesting unit but Garmin released it way way way too soon. The way the buggy software is, it looks more like a prerelease-Beta unit and not a high priced, high quality unit already at software release 3.20. I plan on returning the Monterra and going back to my Montana 650.
  3. No. The preprogrammed micro SD card was purchased from a store (actual store, not online) one year ago. I have the package with the Garmin part number (don't have it handy as I write this email).
  4. There is only one way to insert the chip, so yes, the chip is inserted correctly. With the chip in and the gps connected to the computer, windows explorer can see all the files on the map chip. The monterra simply does not recognize the map. This is frustrating since it is a legal Garmin map chip installed in a Garmin product. My OSM map chip works fine.
  5. I purchased a new Monterra yesterday and updated the software to the latest release (3.20_1.21.00). I removed my Topo Deutschland 2012 Pro map chip from my Oregon 400 and inserted it in the Monterra. The Monterra sees the SD card but it does not see the map file so I can't select the Topo Deutschland map. Note. This map chip works well in both my Oregon 400 and Montanna 650. Is there a possibility that this android based unit can not handle a GMAPSUPP file that is 2.4 gig?
  6. I just did a stupid thing. I didn't lock my Montana 650 screen and put the GPSr in my pocket and it "pocket dialed" its way to Reset All User Data!! I've lost all my created wps (a couple of years worth) which includes wps of solved geocache puzzles (which took hours and weeks of my time....). What file name is this data stored in and is there a way to recover it or edit it with notepad to get it to see all the user created wp's I have in the unit? In the \garmin\gpx folder I can see all my individual waypoints(date).gpx files going back a couple of years. A waypoint file is created any day that a user wp is created. I know that these individual wp files contain the info that I need because I can import them in to GSAK one at a time and can confirm that they hold the info I want to get back. I prefer not to have to import the 300+ files 1 by 1 into GSAK and then send them back to the GPS as a single .gpx file containing all the individual wps. Doing it by this method does not preserve the various icons that were assigned to the individual wps. I had become accustomed to always seeing my user created wps regardless of how many GSAK downloads (hundreds...) I did. I have basecamp but have not been using it. ie all the user created wps are not currently saved there. Thanks in advance.
  7. I guess I learned my lesson. That was the first and most likely the last time I volunteer for a rescue mission. NO. I did not check this forum this morning before I leaving for the park. I checked it yesterday afternoon and there was nothing said about it already having been rescued. I had even emailed the cache owner and notified them of my intentions, but did NOT receive a reply. Am I p.....d?????? At the present. yes. Below is my entry I made on our local geocaching forum when I returned at 10PM. ----------------------------------------------------------- re TB Rescue Mission in Algonquin park. Well, 420 Km, $64 gas ,and $11 park entrance fee later and I did not find the unauthorized cache. Made my way to the beautiful Archay campground and found GZ easy enough but a 1/2 hour searching did not turn up the cache. Right where the cache most likely was (at least thats where I would have put it), is an innukshuk. I took several pictures of the GZ area and can provide them to anyone else that wants to go looking. I'll notify Sabresfan and KillerWhaleTank (cache owner) of my non success. The upside of this story is that I bagged a Binthair cache while in the area.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. As mentioned at the COG 777 pub night, I'm planning on mounting a TB Rescue Mission within the next couple of weeks. I'll let Sabresfan know the Mission details. I'll also contact the original poster to confirm the location of the cache.
