  1. I think it will be one that's round and 1.75" across and has some sort of design on it with a possible number on the other side...
  2. That's a beautiful coin that any self-respecting cacher would absolutely kill to own...
  3. Title: A sad fact about a poor geocacher I have never owned A Geocoin of my own Would someone donate?
  4. Looks like the story made the front page of www.fark.com...
  5. I like to take my kids out on weekends as they find it fun adn exciting, but during the week, it's strictly solo...
  6. While I'm not one of those who rushes out to get a FTF, I have gotten 3 and one co-FTF. The CO's have recognized that on their pages. However, when I update the stats on my profile page using MyGeocachingProfile.com, it does not recognize me as having any FTFs. My question is, do you need to do something different when you log the find in order for FTF stats to get recognized, especially by the aforementioned profile generator?
  7. I have noticed that sometimes if I'm caching in a heavily populated area, that Muggles tend to completely ignore you. I was looking for one at a very well-traveled intersection a few weeks ago during the evening rush hour and even though the cache was completely out in the open (but VERY well disguised) and that I walked by it a couple times before making the find, NO ONE seemed to know I was there. It's as if everyone is so caught up in there own little world, that someone walking down a sidewalk with a device in their hand doesn't warrant any attention. I have more people notice me when I'm in rural settings on in parks, that when hunting urban caches. I almost stopped practicing stealth in the city these days and have never been called out, nor have caches disappeared after I've been there.
  8. I apologize in advance if this belongs in another section... http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2...collapsing-plus
  9. I haven't used paper in over 4 months...I've been caching for 5.
  10. Recently I found out that an area I used to frequent as a youth has a virtual cache near an old hangout of mine. All they are requiring for the find is the answer to a question about the area that I already know. The cache is about 2 states away and I have no plans to go back anytime soon. Would this be considered cheating if I sent the CO a message with the answer to his question and counted the 'find'? He's not even asking for a photo.
  11. Wow, that is a beautiful coin and I love it. Hopefully I will run across one in my travels...
  12. I just noticed that this is happening to me. But only in the last week or so...
  13. I've learned that there are some amazing places near my home that I found never have found had I not gone out to look for them. I now take the road less traveled more often then not when I go places and spend less time on the interstate.
  14. I think like many things, people will do it for awhile and then find something else (or the next big thing). Hobbies tend to run in cycles (jazzercize anyone?)
  15. I guess I'm weird in that I always make sure my pens work before I get out of the car. I have a scratch pad that I use and always carry 2-3 in my pockets (all tested on the pad) before going out and searching...
  16. I usually log a DNF only after my second try and I've all but exhausted my options. If I go back and find it I usually keep the DNF and post that I've avenged it...
  17. I knew this was fake as "the slough" doesn't have any caches... I have no idea what the slough is
  18. I've had three in the past week and that's a good week for around these parts... (Charlotte NC area)

  20. I've had three in the past week and that's a good week...
  21. I had a Team Bamboozle GC for a few weeks. Picked it up in NC and dropped it off in SC. Beautiful coin...
  22. I found one at the coast that was literally a cardboard box. It was mostly frozen and the log was too. I could possibly see something like this in a desert, but not near the beach where seasonal rains and the occasional hurricane are very real dangers...
  23. As of today (3/23/10) I have 427 finds and have had a consecutive find streak extending back to November 24, 2009. I started Caching on November 22, 2009. I've currently posted 29 messages to this board. This is approximately 1 post for every 14.7 finds. I think this qualifies me as 'real', albeit a newbie...
