  1. OOOHHH! an uptick in my fortunes. Now I'm a Cultivator as well. Sounds much better than Pallbearer. Thanks, Barb. I had contacted Grayling about AG Equipment earlier but he replied that since you were now (then) leader there was nothing he could do, so I let it lie. I had considered contacting you but, well... you know. Sooooo, all you farmers from waaaay back - cobble those submissions together and send them in!!! We'll get to them tout suite! (As if we hadn't previously ) Keith
  2. WOW!!! This sounds ominous, dark and dreary - now I'm a Pallbearer.
  3. OK... ... Joined both. You can close them again
  4. Yes, Thank You. I suppose it's only proper that I should remain as an officer. ... And "Old Agricultural Equipment", since Grayling made us/me the leader. It's up to you who remains as leader. For both of these I'll have to join/be allowed to join.
  5. Ahhhh - the real Vienna exposed!!
  6. Guess that means you DO get out of Texas now and then. Keith
  7. Aw Heck, that was almost worth a full ROTFLMAO. Keith
  8. Then again, plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery. Keith
  9. Ahhhh Jason. All you ever do is complain... Keith
  10. Well, actually, I've moved, but only 100 kliks, to an area we had done a lot of WMs in already. There were still a couple of WMs left in the old town, but that's about all.
  11. I hope that I'm able tonight to fully reveal my views on Waymarking in terms of its being, with respect to its players, a "Zero Sum Game". The Game, as best I can tell, is enjoyed by two sets of players. The Waymark creators and the Waymark visitors. For the most part, the creators dictate the outcome, the visitors play, not necessarily by a stipulated and agreed upon set of rules, but with generally self administered rules, employing as their tools the material supplied to them by the creators. For each, the product is simply what each has managed to create as a result of their excursion into the world of Waymarking. The product of the creators becomes the tool of the visitors. Very quickly, however, we come upon the realization that the product of the creators has eaten into their supply of product. IE, for each Waymark created there is one fewer potential Waymark available to the Waymarking community as a whole. Thus we have the initial realization of The Game as being a Zero Sum Game. Similarly, each visit has eaten into the visitor's supply of visitable Waymarks. Hence, again a Zero Sum Game. Though this seems a dark and dreary view of the future of the game of Waymarking, if we were to further examine the number of active Waymarkers extant, as well as their annual output, then compare this data with the number of potential Waymarks on this planet, possibly we wouldn't spent so much time lamenting the potential demise of Waymarking. Keith
  12. I'm going to start a new thread which deals with some of the more aspects of Waymarking which have been raised in this thread. Keith
  13. Sadly, I feel I must agree with that assessment. Keith
  14. Hadn't noticed this post before. The Vulture must have been caught on a "difficult" day. I recall his being in a better mood, as a rule. Think about this: Any Geocacher who forsook the site for Waymarking continued to use the same site, IE Groundspeak. That notwithstanding, I totally agree with the "Tupperware" aspect of the opinion expressed. Once we discovered Waymarking, Geocaching seemed to us an ultimately "wasteful" activity, by comparison. 15. As one half of the now defunct team of BK-Hunters, I have, after a few months of consideration and reflection, decided to get up the gumption to rejoin the categories in which I was previously an officer. I have today applied to several categories which I could remember my having been an officer of, noticing that several were, indeed, in need of more warm bodies. The following list is those: Alberta Heritage Markers American Guide Series Atlantic Canada Heritage Properties - Now an Officer British Columbia Heritage Markers NRHP Historic Districts - Contributing Buildings - Now an Officer Old Agricultural Equipment - Now an officer Old Tractors Ontario Heritage Properties Victorian Style Architecture WPA Projects My request to you is this: If anyone here knows of another category in which I was an officer I'd love to hear from you. If anyone (Doug, I'm looking at you again) were to further suggest a category which they I feel should join anew, I will take any and all suggestions into consideration, given the proviso that I am unlikely to join categories I find to be of little personal interest. Though I'm willing to invest a goodly portion of my (otherwise useless) time in the game, I'm still willing to state a limit. As most know, Barb had her categories and I had mine. She seems to have remained active in the categories in which she has always been active, so I'll not concern myself with those. Thanks in advance, guys, Keith
  16. You've done it to me again. - What? Keith
  17. I don't think there's a need to skip over the identity of the person/category leader in question here. He's not an ogre, nor a mean and vindictive or vengeful person, just cantankerous, as many of us are becoming. For some reason he's just unwilling to come and say "Hi". I feel no antipathy toward him and I suspect that most people here feel likewise. They'd rather just have the opportunity to understand his point of view. I believe he's here, listening and watching right now. What say Possum Man? Could you come and talk to these people? Keith Addendum: OOPS!! I have been apprised that the Possum Man may not "come and talk to these people". Displaying my ignorance here. My apologies to all, including the Possum Man. OH CRAP - I've done it again. How do I get rid of the stuff below?!?!
  18. Given its recent popularity as a tourist attraction, Official Local Tourism Attractions comes to mind. Here's the tourism link for the museum. "Many guided tours in Sarajevo include the Tunnel Museum as one of the war sites most worth visiting in the city." (From the Wiki) There's a good chance that, within Bosnia and Herzegovina, it may rate as a First of its Kind and/or even a Last of its Kind. It was, after all, created in a quite unusual situation within unusual circumstances. Supporting documentation for these, however, may be difficult to provide. And, just because I would always check for this possibility, here's a New York Times article which may be made to fit into News Article Locations. If you have pix of the tunnel itself this is a sure thing. Keith
  19. The obvious first choice, to me, is History Museums, as it contains historical items pertaining to the Bosnian War. History need not be 100 or 1,000 years past - yesterday is history. I'll look further for another possible fit. This looks to have the makings for a good Waymark!! AAMOF, as a potentially "landmark" event and location with regard to the breakup of Yugoslavia, this site presents you with the opportunity of creating one or more truly great historically oriented Waymarks. Go for it, Andreas!!! You can do it!!! Keith
  20. Afraid I can't "Join the club". Seems normal here. Chrome on a laptop.

  22. You may question the hows and the whys and the wheres Of how ScroogieII might have come to be But ask them not of me For answers will not come. Though it's unlikely that anyone here may have noticed my absence following a short string of only 1533 consecutive days with posts, preceded by another string of 969 consecutive days, (the two broken by a single day, the infamous Groundspeak hiccup day of July 7, 2015), I thought perhaps I might check in and apprise all and sundry that "Rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated". Today I could no longer help myself and got to thinking about the Waymarking People I know and how the community might well have found itself in the throes of despair in my absence (no humility to be found in any of the nooks and crannys of this room, it seems). It also caused me to remember that Christmas is coming fast upon us, and that I had more or less promised the group another Christmas tale this year (seeing as how I had dredged up the 2017 tale for 2018). Soooo - I spent a couple of hours today and bashed together another tale - this one wholly unlike the previous one, and done with the aid of the resident philosopher, "The Pud" (short for Puddy Tat, as in "I Tought I Taw a Puddy Tat"), AKA the cat who deigns to allow me to live with her. The story which the poem eventually gets around to telling is true - we actually did that!! Which brings me around to saying that I'm giving to you, as an early Christmas present, the following poem, because it came together much quicker than I had imagined it would and, though it's still unpolished, I kinda like the way it came out. It's now yours to critique, perhaps even to enjoy. It's still early - mebbe I'll find the energy to bash together a better one before the Yule Season should end. Keith NB - Don't anybody try writing me. Obviously, my Email addy has changed. My profile page message will find me, though. A Cat's Take On The really IMPORTANT Aspects Of Life While my Waymark career has been somewhat curtailed I'll here say it's not been completely derailed. The Waymarks may come yet though not as before As churning them out has become quite a chore. The ache in my wrist now will ne'er go away And most days I can't think of what thing to say. The tools of our trade, WORDS, no longer my friends Now flutter away and will not make amends. A year ago now I had promised I'd write A new and fresh missive with hopes to delight. So now at the keyboard I struggle to find The phrases and terms that I hope come to mind. "Now how should we do this?" I implore of the cat Who half on the keyboard was leisurely sat. "This year should the story be cheery and bright Or more on the dark side engendering fright?" She said she'd get back to me soon as she could That I must be patient as cat's minions should. For now she was fully engaged in her work Considering tending to me not a perk. At length she returned a considered reply, Reclined on the desk with me fixed in her eye. Quite calm and restrained, and with nary a blink She yawned and then stretched, saying "Here's what I think. The devil inside me says go for the throat And make them all wish they had not sailed this boat; His counterpart, 'Angel', however, does wish That we should present a more palatable dish. That which one would win is a problem, 'tis true While 'Angel' might vanquish, the devil may coup. I really don't care as it's time for my nap And now you're obliged to provide me a lap. I'll leave you with this, though, I see you're in need And this ragged poem I don't wish to impede. While spinning your yarns, see whatever you do Don't tell that sad story we both know you'll rue". Then she drifted to sleep, I could tell by her snore But it very soon irked me: she'd left me a chore. I mused upon which tale she'd softly alluded A few moments thought, though, were quickly concluded. It hit me which story was not to be told Its telling, for readers, would surely be gold. It seems that yours truly was reared without shame For here's now the tale, I accept all the blame: Up the hill a few miles from our onetime abode Stood a place full with books and with each a bar code From which we had taken some titles on loan Returning them promptly, thereby to atone. When notified later of books overdue A library trip now might give us a clue To how it may be that these books went astray; Our handling of said books we might then relay. 'Twas explained to the lady, throughout quite composed "The books were returned on a day you were closed." We'd placed them with care in the drop at the street "The one that's all new, quite shiny and neat". She: "A bookdrop that's new comes as true news to me! So let us withdraw so the 'bookdrop' we'll see." The object in question was then pointed out Which quickly evoked both a gasp and a shout. She gathered herself, then she spoke, not with glee "A 'bookdrop' that's NOT, as quite soon you shall see. The container was placed by the town, don't confuse It was placed not for books, but collecting REFUSE!"
