  1. Me neither. Overdrive has enough to keep me going forever.
  2. And now a change of subject to take our minds off the pandemic: Several weeks (maybe even months ago) I suggested that overdrive.com purchase a specific EBook. It arrived 2 days ago so I've been binge reading for 2 days and am only 46% through it. Good timing (the book's arrival) for someone in isolation.
  3. Trying to figure this out. If I post right next to (as in immediately below) your post, would that be too close to be a socially acceptable distance? Just occurred to me - mebbe if I include several blank lines that would separate us sufficiently.
  4. And so ends yet another bizarre adventure into the Twilight Zone. It seems that the word visible was essentially invisible to all concerned.
  5. I have neglected to mention that there are prizes available for correct answers in this thread.
  6. Mea Culpa GOOD!!! Like a good wine, the definition improves with age.
  7. Close but: "The minimum distance between you and a partner who watches the ISS before or after you will need to be at least one minute's flight time." Otherwise, I agree with that completely.
  8. LOL LOL - I like that answer, but it ain't the one I was looking for. Guesses are <$1 each, so try again.
  9. If there's anything I like, it's a decisive individual.
  10. How 'bout that? I forgot to post the brain teaser last night. Old age creeping in. Some of you will likely find this one easy peasy, while others will see it as obscure and cryptic: While most would tend to think of it as YELLOW PURPLE BLACK BLACK BLACK, it's commonly created as YELLOW PURPLE ORANGE. In its native habitat it's often accompanied by GOLD, thus - YELLOW PURPLE ORANGE GOLD, and sometimes by BROWN or RED. What is it?
  11. Down east, apparently, but not in the west, to my knowledge.
  12. Yeabut - it is moot if it won't be accepted by the powers that be.
  13. You have a point, however moot it may be.
  14. You initially said "view the ISS again on the same pass". 89 minutes of ISS travel time, with respect to much the same location, does not say "the same pass" to me.
  15. I reiterate: "Participants need to be at least one minute of ISS travel time (293 miles or 472 km) apart" Still, you've now introduced a lesser drive time of 30 minutes. My Top Fueler would STILL require "a few" fuel stops during that 30 minute drive. If you can drive 293 miles in 30 minutes, more power (which you'll evidently need) to you. I'm just quoting the requirements. Beyond that, what do I know? If you've found a loophole, or a wormhole, go for it!!!
  16. I'm sitting here watching Curling reruns from 2018 and 2019. Yeah, I'm Canadian, wanna make sumpin' of it?!?! I'm pretty much a shut-in now, as are many of us Waymarkers. Today I posted my first three Waymarks as ScroogieII, all of them Canadian Benchmarks. Figgered I may as well start in the same place I started back in 2012. Gettin' bored? Yeah. Today is the official First Day Of Spring. Spring (and possibly even Summer this year) is a bitch without Baseball (and World Curling Championships [Spring only, even we Canadians often don't curl in the summer]). I had expected that, with others also having to spend more time than is their habit at home, the Waymarks would come flooding in (just a sec, a couple have landed in my inbox... [only one, from the Hamquilter, was left for me to approve {another equally bored Waymarker had already gotten to the others}] ...back to the subject at hand), but, as yet, I've seen only a trickle. All that is intended to lead up to the title of this thread, which, if you've already forgotten, is "Entertainment for us Shut-Ins". If I can't watch baseball, mebbe I can entertain myself in other ways, such as baiting Waymarkers, going over to Geocaching forums and doing the same there, or mebbe even starting yet another off-the-wall thread. And the thread is about entertainment that we create for ourselves. I'm hereby inviting all and sundry who happen upon this thread to submit (via posting here, not email, voicemail, facebook, linkedin or twitter) jokes, riddles, brain teasers or similarly twisted and sadistic conundrums, quandarys and enigmas for the entertainment of "The Herd". Following will be the first brain teaser that came to mind for me. It's really lame - I'm hoping the cerebral cortex will have better days in the VERY NEAR future.
  17. I'm sitting here giggling at the moment. That has to be the MOST HYPERBOLIC hyperbole I've ever written (or spoken, for that matter).
  18. "Participants need to be at least one minute of ISS travel time (293 miles or 472 km) apart" Gotta figure out which make of car currently available on the open market might be able to attain these numbers. Off the top of my head, NHRA Top Fuelers and Funny Cars (top speed ~ 300MPH) might do the trick, but they generally only carry enough fuel for a quarter to a half mile. All the necessary refueling stops might cut into their average speed somewhat.
  19. Any vacancies?!?!?! That sounds WAAAY too good to pass up on investigating. Even though I've only been in my present digs for less than 4 months, I could stand a change in scenery. Not that I'm complaining, I like this town, but your situation sounds SOOOO MUCH nicer than mine. All we have in my building to compare with yours is the flat roof.
  20. Waymarking - BAH HUMBUG My daddy told me long ago "Don't ever play with fire", I wish he'd told me this instead, "Don't Waymark, it's a fool, Who thinks that he will beat the place that draws up all his ire, He'll just end up a sobbing mess and losing all his cool." If I were smart I'd give it up, go out and find a cache, Or, better still just close my eyes and have myself a snooze. I find it more relaxing, though, to give this site a bash, It's sure a fine intoxicant, and much less dear than booze. I know they toil behind the scenes, in efforts to assuage, The wrath that boils each time I click and pages disappear. When half an hour's work goes south, there's just a little rage, That surfaces and makes me ask, just why I'm sitting here. I could be out, down at the beach, or even playing ball, Or shooting pool with all the guys and having lots of laughs. But, no, I sit right here instead, with problems that seem small, When I compare them with this site's imponderable gaffs. It oft' times makes me drop my guard when things are sailing smooth, I'll write and type a tome, it seems, before I realize, I've gone too far, I have to save, my nerves to calm and sooth, It knows that it has got me now, well, this I theorize. It dumps me deep in cyberspace along with all my work, And all I did was click a box, it seemed so easy then. The site's not right, it's got a bug, it's more than just a quirk, They'll fix it soon I tell myself, but, honestly, just when? The site is mean, it's nasty, and it borders on the cruel, It trashes all my hard got gains and throws them in the air. It toys with my emotions and it plays me for a fool, It cares not what it does to me, it's just not playing fair. Oft' times I'll think that this is just a temporary bind, In future I'll be wiser and I'll ne'er again get rooked. I wish that I could go away and leave it all behind, But that ain't happ'nin' no time soon, you see, I'm truly hooked.
  21. I was beginning to get worried when Andreas hadn't shown up. Good to hear that you, and Austrians in general, are doing OK. I found another poem, this one obviously written immediately after the Great Waymarking Fiasco in July of 2015. It follows.
  22. That's right - stomp all over our dreams.
  23. The Nutty Octagonal Gosling Herder would be the one to ask, no?
  24. That's an interesting thought. So, if I can catch consecutive passes I get the prize?
  25. Here's what may be interpreted as a bit of good news, for some of us at least. I decided to start recording the number of COVID-19 cases in BC. When I graphed the results for the last 9 days an interesting trend (or at least we can hope it portends a trend) developed. Notice that the rate of increase, in orange, is beginning to decrease. This is just what we have all been hoping for. Now we just have to wait a few days and see if that really will remain a trend. I'm crossing my fingers and toes. One caveat to note is that the spike on the 17th was caused in part by the BC CDC catching up on processing test results.
