  1. I was just reading through the post, why did you hate the PN-60?
  2. It could be that they are new to Caching and don't know how to log it yet. Take me for example, my Daughter and I turned on her Geomate Jr. and starting hunting prior to even coming to this site and checking things out. Now that I know how to log them I do. Just a thought. And this shows one of the problems with the GMjr. I don't think there is anything wrong with the geomate jr, it's great for my kids who can't operate a regular gps. It was more my inexperience with caching and not knowing until I came to this site that we could log our finds on line. Once I found the CA numbers in the geomate jr. I searched them out and log our visits.

At that price, a Garmin eTrex Venture HC or Legend H. The DeLorme PN20 and some Magellan Tritons (400 I believe) should fall in that price range too, but I have no experience with them. I would not recommend the eTrex H, which is actually below $100, because it lacks USB. Edit to add : Venture HC is $124 at Amazon right now. It seems to fluctuate between $115 and $125. Delorme PN20 is $99 at WalMart (online). Just ordered one.
  5. I know this thread is more about the PN30 & 40, but if price is a concern, the PN20 is on sale at wal mart for $99. My two cents.
  6. Just found out my Dad has an eTrex Venture CX (I think that's what it is) he is sending me. I know it's an older model, but I will try it out and see where to go from there. The price was right, FREE! Thanks to all who replied.
  7. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Magellan sounds like it's out. StarBrand.......I can't find the PN30 for under $200 (even on Amazon). Does it have better maps loaded out of the box than the Endura & Vista?
  8. I bought my daughter the geo jr. It's a pretty neat little toy. But after looking on Geocaching.com I noticed it doesn't show a quarter of the ones that are right near our house. I know you can buy updates for the jr., but I want a gps of my own. I've looked till I'm blue in the face and come up with three below. Which one would you choose? Garmin, eTrex Vista HCx (Reviews are great) Magellan Triton 500 (So So reviews, some people love them, some don't) Lowrance Endura Out&Back (Same as the Triton as far as reviews) I've looked at the specs and each one has something I like. First time buyer and these units are in my price range, under $200. Thanks in advance
