  1. Nice! I just got into this a few weeks ago and everyone is asking me what the heck it is. This will be a great link to send to people who want to know more.
  2. I was pretty excited when I discovered the "cache" and "cache found" icons on my Legend. I am easily amused
  3. Hey Alaskans, how do you do it? We might be heading to Anchorage for a visit with my father-in-law for New Years weekend. I'd love to find one while I'm there but is it pointless to look? Will I have to wait until we visit again in the summer?
  4. I love a good hike that ends in a great view. This is what first caught my attention when I stumbled upon this whole "geocaching thing". I was pretty disappointed with my last three searches over the weekend. The caches were located in busy local parks, just off the main walking trails. Nice easy walking but the caches themselves we in the middle of sticker bushes, nearly impossible to get through. After 30 minutes on each one I had to give up and walk away frustrated. I'm not really sure what may have inspired these locations, no view, no hike, not much of anything. I love a challenge but I need some type of reward! At least I am learning what not to do when I decide to start hiding my own!
  5. After you click on the link, select "development" then there is a link to download an application.
  6. I'm DQ'd since I work for a sporting goods company. Very disappointing. We don't make HIKING BOOTS! Oh well. I'll just have to buy my stuff like everyone else.
  7. Jay, I must be right on track! I started six days ago and have found six caches. Tomorrow, I'm scoping out a spot to hid my own. Now I know who I have to beat!
  8. I was really surprised to find McDonald's halloween coupons in one of my caches this week. I almost took them until I realized they expired a year ago What is the typical amount to spend on cool stuff? I now have some "toy" items, like super balls and slimy worms, to put into kids caches (caught at one yesterday but I didn't have anything to leave for kids) and I also have some "cooler" stuff for adults (outdoor store bumper stickers, bead bracelet, sealed diposable camera, batteries, keychain, and new CDs). Personally, being a newbie, I would love to come across a cache with actual "Geocaching" merchandise in it.
  9. Have fun and good luck! I wish I was camping this weekend instead of waiting for the plumber...
  10. Oops. No, addition is NOT what I meant! Addiction, addiction. Now I have to get ready for work early this morning. Found a cache on my route to work that I have to stop and find... Thanks everyone for the welcome!
  11. Well, yesterday I bought my Garmin Legend and spent the entire day figuring out how to use it. Today, my husband and I hit the trails and started caching. The bad thing? I think I have caused an addition in myself and my husband. We had a great time and found something we can do together (still newlyweds, can you tell?). We ended the day when he decided that he should have his own GPS.
