  1. To contribute to the discussion about paying a bit more to have Google maps ( and have it working properly again too), I would be happy to pay more. Just think how much membership of a gym costs, but this is exercise, fresh air, discovering new places and the thrill of the hunt. People should think of that when saying it would cost too much.
  2. Also, why do The people at Geocaching.com not reply to these posts? They should at least acknowledge that there is a problem. Communication is pretty poor.
  3. This is really bad. Not only have the good maps gone (I use satellite a lot), but the Geocaching website no longer works on my iPad. If you click on a cache to look at the details on a map, nothing happens. It all worked before. What do they mean when they say they have made it better for ipad users? It just doesn't function at all now. And when I zoom out on my laptop, it loses all my found caches.
  4. A sad day! Geocaching is broken. I live in a small village in the UK and OSM is very inaccurate here. OK, I could update it, but I am sure that it is also inaccurate in many of the areas that I go Geocaching in. Also the maps take ages to download, and have grey tiles in. Why didn't you consult with the Geocaching community before you did this? I would be happy to pay more money for my membership if I knew that I was paying for a mapping system that worked, rather than my present 'Premium' membership that no longer feels premium at all. Thanks also to Google for messing things up!
  5. I save the pocket queries into Easy gps files, but it doesn't seem to download it if I click on 'send to GPS', but as the previous post said, I just drag the files directly into the Garmin's gpx file, and that works just fine.
  6. I use an Oregon 200 for paperless geocaching and it does give all the information I need. I download Pocket queries from the geocaching website using Easy GPS. It then shows the cache description, including size and difficulty, the hint (on a separate page), and the last 5 logged finds. I have not had any difficulty finding caches with it, and am very happy with it. I am not so sure how it will be with a motorbike, though. I live in the UK, and have used it a couple of times in the car, and it takes me on some rather wierd routes, but I haven't tried too hard with fiddling with the settings for this (it also doesn't have sound for route directions, so you have to read the screen).
  7. I have an Oregon 200, and find it really good for geocaching. It is paperless, and I have just got back from a day's geocaching with 2600 mAh batteries without having to change them once (but I do carry spares), and I found every cache with it. It also marked the track on the train journey without faltering. The only negative issue I have with it is the screen could be a bit brighter, but it is still plenty good enough for me! It also wasn't too expensive.
  8. The Oregon 200 does not have any sound, therefore cannot make an alarm sound. To change the background go to Setup>Display>Background, then choose eg river rocks for pebbles. You can transfer gpx pocket query files directly across into the Oregon files when it is connected to the computer - 500 geocaches at a time, which is great. Enjoy it!
  9. I downgraded the software back to Version 3.42, and it worked perfectly, finding 9 caches with very good accuracy. There was definitely a problem with Version 3.6. I can relax again now, as I was worried it had all gone wrong!
