  1. Definitely an improvement in stability and availability. Other than some significant spikes in data usage when we use the app (maps?), it's become pleasant to cache as a family again. We agree that offline caching functionality needs to have the focus for improvement in 2.5. The offline experience should closely resemble (if not mimic) the real-time experience. Some work could also be done to improve the compass, as we have decided it's easier to use the map and distance rather than the compass.
  2. Ended up having to purchase the app again outside of my AT&T account, but I have 2.3 installed! Definitely faster on the search and maps. Saved caches worked great! Still see my own cache on the initial search results, but it removed it from the saved cache. Can't wait to get it out and about tomorrow.
  3. Now I've shafted myself. References online indicated the app should be uninstalled and reinstalled. Now I have NO geocaching app, and I can't get it to install. Error is now 80070490. Arrrgh!
  4. Well, the good news is that 2.3 is available to update. Only problem is that after I click update I get the messgage 'There is a problem completing your request. Try again later. Error code:c101a7d4'. Not sure if it's my phone or the marketplace. I'll keep trying.
  5. Not showing as an update yet. Went to Marketplace. Still shows v2.2 for download.
  6. I hope GS has someone who can light a fire under the M$ folks. 10 days seems excessive. Not to mention it's getting harder to locate this thread, as I scroll past the 4 iPhone and 7 Android Release Notes updates that have taken place since.
  7. I would love nothing better than to have this app finally become a stable, usable application, and plan to give Groundspeak a chance to make the situation right (albeit with significant delay). With that being said, I'll be glad to include my information if the stability issues are still not addressed toward the end of the month as promised, or if the delivered release fails to provide the user experience I would expect for the premium paid. Sandy - I'm pulling for the development team to hit the bullseye here so we can move away from the frustrations and back to the fun it was before the new smartphone.
  8. Yes, Thank you for providing an update Sandy! I look forward to the update! Is there anything I (we) can do to push for any particular enhancements?
  9. I would agree that the development is going toward the #1 mobile OS (Apple), and the #2 (Droid)... as Chris stated, that's a huge base of users they need to satisfy by comparison the the WP7 pool. Of course that does not excuse the fact that there's been no response to the frustrations expressed in this forum. The least they could do is recognize this forum with a response and a road map defining the development items planned for WP7 and the anticipated timeline. I would hope Groundspeak has at least that much that can be shared with us.
  10. Unfortunately it sure seems like geocaching.com is only interested in generating revenue. If you are considering purchasing this app... STAY AWAY! I probably wouldn't use it even if it was free. I reverted to sending OpinioNate a message on the geocaching.com site in hopes to get some form of response. Also made four usability suggestions (in addition to the stability/reliability issues) that we can only HOPE someone at Groundspeak will act upon.
  11. How would one go about requesting a refund for this app? For the 3rd time since loading it months ago I once again today was chasing down an archived cache that showed up on my Samsung Focus. Of course I only realized this after 15 minutes of futile searching, and a logon to the website from home to see the archived status. This was in addition to the 'me' beacon being off and taking over 5 minutes to calibrate. I am VERY frustrated at the lack of reliable information this expensive application fails to deliver. I'm not impressed. Perhaps we were completely spoiled by the robust capabilities of the free GCZII application on my old winmo 6.5. I just don't see anything close being made available in this app anytime soon. Please prove me wrong, or direct me to the refund.
  12. OK. So after experiencing frustrations with the 2.0.0.0 version, I can't get my phone to download the new release. First chasing down non-existent archived caches, then a persistent 'There was an error logging into your account. Please try again.' message. What's the trick to making this app actually work? Update - glad to see it was not an issue with me or the phone. Was able to see nearby caches after clearing out the initial (Seattle?) cache list. I'll give it a run through this weekend to see how well it works. Keeping my fingers crossed for a great experience!
