  3. I'm not a great fan of multi-cache's I'm afraid... but to stop you moaning about us west london cachers I found it for you! See the log of my experience!!! Steve
  4. Ah ha.... that's the reason then.... so I need to grab hold of me mate and get his setup disc... he never installed the software, I have done the unlock code side but could not figure why the CD kept chucking up that message. I might grab a copy of R&R as I only really want it to get used to how it all works as can't afford the TOPO disc yet.... I thought the maps for my TomTom go was expensive..... ;-) Many thanks for the info Steve
  5. My newly aquired 60csx arrived today and it looks good.... first problem I had was unable to do anything with MapSource City Select V6 that I had given to me brand new, but do you think I can get it to load....!! keeps chucking up an error about "Please start this data CD install from the set-up cd." I am using disc 1 of 2 I even tried double clicking on the setup.exe file... but no luck.... same error message... Does anyone know if road & recreation works with the 60csx as looking on the ad's on that well known auction site and garmin themselves the unit is not listed... if anyone can advise or if there is more than one version of this software that works with the 60csx Steve
  6. I must just say reading this thread while I'm recovering from a small op has cheered me up no end with the comments.... keep it up folks... Now all I need is for my new gps to turn up today as promised... And to stay on topic I can't say I have ever found anything unusual but thanks for topic Kev Steve
  7. Was there supposed to have been a reply here Pat& Dave?
  8. Ok, one of my very few posts here..... I am considering the new 60csx buying from the UK, can anyone recommend a dealer to buy from, also the mapping software.... how does it work, does the whole lot load onto a memory card or do you only load the area you want, and what type of map is it, ie a sort of streetmap display or the OS one... If anyone knows of any images or a good site that explains all this would be appreciated... or if you fancy taking the time to explain it would be very welcome, my little yellow etrek has died unfortunately and thought if I was going to upgrade why not go mad.... Steve
  9. I supose it had to happen at some stage, had a report from a cacher yesterday that he was unable to find my cache and there was a lot of rubbish strewn about, so today I visited the cache and it has indeed been muggled.... :-( I fell a bit guilty and sorry for the owner of the TB that was in there, so have emailed them with the sad news. I just hope who ever stole it.... Grrrrrr......... Tomcatuk
  10. Don't know if this is the person you are thinking of who made the film? http://www.herondance.org/studiostore/merc..._Code=billmason
  11. Thanks all, and 11 after for confirming that he did not see his name... that was the problem... Thanks once again... Tomcatuk
  12. I dropped a couple of travel bugs off today and noticed on the main TB page where it shows you the latest bug reports my name is not shown... ie Dropped off 11/15/2004 placed Captain Morgan in North of London Travel Bug Hotel United Kingdom Dropped off 11/15/2004 placed All Black Ball in North of London Travel Bug Hotel United Kingdom What am I doing wrong...? Tomcatuk
  13. Designs look great, and somebody suggested different colours which would be nice, not so much for a purpose but variety... but what extra this would cost I have no idea... I also like the new travelbug adress Keep up the good work.... Tomcatuk (in the uk of course...)
  14. Thanks guys..... Steve
  15. I'm about to release my first travel bug but a bit confused as to the small tick box when I uploaded an image "Has Waypoint" Should I put the starting waypoint in there of the cache that it has started in? Steve
  16. Often 25p each if you visit the shop! I drive past every day and have often seen piles of the things for almost no money. They are a little small (a full-length pencil doesn't quite fit), but really are great containers. When I walked past the other day, they were selling 12 for a pound. It was so tempting to buy more! but we already have a bag full. Looks like you bought the entire stock, they don't have any left looking at their website... 17. I noticed my name is on the list.... being a newcomer to the Geocaching experience I would love to come but I work nights I'm afraid so would not be able to get there...
  18. Many thanks to all for your replies... glad to know it's normal... Regards Steve (Tomcatuk)
  19. Bought myself a little yellow Etrex and a question for those experienced in geocaching.... Went out today and found a cache, (My eight!) it was right by the side of an underground line... Now the reading said I had 60 odd feet togo and I spotted the stump where it was, the gps then suddendly started counting up in feet while I was standing still and finally stopped at 160' in the opposite direction.... Is there a set procedure that I need to do when starting off or is it just me expecting to much... had a good few sats locked in 6 or 7 I think it was... but it just seemed to go a bit mad... This also happened the other day at a different location, but reading the logs it seemed to happen to quite a few other's at this other place as well.. I bought the Etrex as my first GPS so was getting a little worried.... Steve
  20. Tried this but everytime I enter a country and location and hit 'next' it simply re-displays the page... not allowing me to go onto the next stage...
  21. Found two small micro cache's today on a visit to hyde park... to feed the ducks... ahem! I took a borrowed (next door neighbours) satnav unit a Blazer12 he uses it when he goes fishing, so as this was my very first attempt at geocaching I thought I better read up the unit.... after downloading the manual for it from the internet I managed to suss it out (I hope) I'm a bit confused about the way you enter the waypoints from the cache pages ie N 51° 48.569 W 000° 03.154 I only have space to enter 51° 48.56 and 000° 03.15 I don't have the space to enter the last digit of the co-ordinates... but still managed to find the locations ok. Any advice on this please? Funny thing though I entered the location for one other in Hyde Park and notices it was over 3000 miles away... Eh! Then I realised this was in the USA.... I am considering (maybe an xmas treat) getting a new etrex unit but undecided as to go for one with a compass or not...as it's basically only going to be used for Geocaching... any advice on that would be welcome.. Regards Steve
