  1. OK, so I got curious. I can buy a $10 Liberty for $10 that contains 1 pure oz of silver ($10.00/oz) from this organization, or, I can buy 10 1 oz pure silver bars for $96.50 ($9.65/oz) at the first website I googled. The website also states that I can become a Liberty Associate for the low, low price of $250. My guess, this guy became an associate and now is trying to recoup some of his money. SCAM!!!!! I'm all for leaving GREAT swag in existing caches. However, when his profile clearly states: "I am the owner of the Liberty Dollar Regional Currency Office (RCO) for Southwest Michigan. I am organizing a PROMOTIONAL effort for the Liberty Dollar..." It just screams "I'm trying to make money off the hobby you love". If this guy really wants to show his love for the sport, why doesn't he go find a few hundred caches and experience what makes us all love this game. Just my $0.02 (or $0.01675 if I used Liberty Dollars purchased from his website) worth.
  2. You can see a large college of them here. EDIT: To provide link to the enlarged photo and fix spelling.
  3. When you place your cache and subsequently fill out the cache placement form, you get the opportunity to leave a detailed note for the cache reviewer. Make sure you go into great detail about how often you'd be able to be in the area of the cache for maintenance and you stand a good possibility of getting your cache approved. Good luck and happy caching.
  4. That's "if" they can find their cache. What a jerk this guy is to move a cache because he can't find it. If I had moved every cache I ever had problems finding, there wouldn't be much caching in the SE!
  5. Looks like there are 2 events coming up in NC for October: GCQJNZ and GCQJMR. EDIT: To fix links.
  6. I bet that is it and I'd have to say that my 4 year old caching buddy would absolutely LOVE to find one of these!
  7. What terrible news. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost mine a couple of years ago, and although we never got to geocache together, I'm sure she would have loved it. I've only taken our new dog out caching once and realized we need a bit more obedience time together before we try that again. The cache we were looking for was only a 1/1, but I rate the difficulty of tracking him down after he ran off a 5/5.
  8. ooops, missed the fact that Rocket Park was on that page. You're correct, I get no direction/distance either, however, when I check it under my ID, it shows up again. Is this like the question about if you're standing on the North Pole with a compass what does it do?
  9. If you're asking that I click on your link and go to page 20 and shouldn't see any distances listed, sorry, I still see the distances. Cache #1 on that page is Fauler Sack (GCMGYD) and is showing: SW 21mi.
  10. How about in the Organized Geocaching thread. I haven't played Halo or Halo2 but I'm with Scott, how would you do this. Sounds very interesting.
  11. Hmmm, it shows up on mine: NE 4876.5mi from your home coordinates. Now that's what I'd consider a cach adventure.
  12. Even under threat of torture? Ve have vays of making you talk.
  13. Here's my thought, OMG, I've just had another "duh" moment. I've seen folks have comments for the drop log and didn't spend enough time thinking about how they did it to figure out I could go back and edit the log to add my comments. So, I'm your prime example of why your idea is a good one. Now I'll need to go visit the drop log for all my bugs and copy and paste my logs from the caches. Thanks for helping me with one of my many "duh" moments.
  14. So far, in my limited experience around here as a geocacher, THIS ONE has been the most out of the way, how did we get here, "Uh-Ohh" type caches to date. My LOG says it all.
  15. Real big fan of the Kodak EasyShare DX6340. Cheap and takes pics like this: . I know the purest photographer types will shoot it full of holes, but for the money, and since I just like pictures, I cant' see spending more than $120 for a camera: Kodak EasyShare DX6340 unless you're planning on starting your own photo studio. I wish I could pass along how GREAT these photos of mine look before they get downsized to fit on the site and/or how great they look when printed out in 8X10 glossy format. Much better than you see here.
  16. I've been described as a calm person...OK, so I gave that guy $20 to say it, but I can say with all honesty, unless the description of this cache tells me I better be wearing my swim suit, AND I, along with my GPSr, PDA, cell phone...and any other electronic device I happen to be carrying in the bush that day, gets wet, I'd probably post a DNF. Then, I'd make it my personal mission to visit the cache ever day at daylight, and stay until dark, just waiting on the next person, in hopes it's the owner, to approach so I could present my repair bill to! Great idea, if you mention it in the description. BAD idea if I, or anybody else involved in a hobby that requires somewhat expensive electronic devices to achieve a goal, find out on our own. Sorry, usually support new ideas, but really glad I ran into this one in the forum and not in the bush.
  17. At the risk of starting a "let's beat the dead horse until it makes funny sounds" issue on this thread concerning the theft of music due to the internet, can anybody here actually say they never made/accepted a "best of" tape back in the 70's-80's. I know anybody over the age of 30 gave some girl back then a "love song" tape that you copied right from the radio. With that said, I also totally understand the problem with making an .mp3 of a track, that doesn't belong to you, available on the internet where millions and milliions of folks can access it with a simple click of the mouse. However, I think that the idea that the OP posted is more along the lines of handing your buddy a best of Saigon Kick/Anthrax/Beastie Boys/Fat Boys/G&R tape back in the 80's due to the fact that the geocaching community is by far smaller than the internet community and to be honest, if he leaves a CD, only 1 person is picking it up compared to if he leaves it in his LimeWire folder that he's sharing with anybody who's logged in and perusing his files. I say, IMHO, it would be fine in this case. I'd also make sure it was secure in a case and in a Ziploc baggie.
  18. You should check out our local group at Florida Geocaching Association. I'm sure one of our Central Florida residents can make some awesome suggestions for caches.
  19. Living in FL, you get the opportunity to run into both bees and yellowjackets. However, the worst you run into are wasps. Big, red/black in color, and ornery as anything. The worst part about wasps is that unlike bees who generally only get to sting once, they can sting multiple times before giving up. When I was growing up I played a LOT of baseball. In fact, in little league, my dad was the head coach of the team. We were playing a scrimage game during the summer getting ready for the regular season. I was in right field when all of a sudden I felt like someone had burned me with a cigar on the back of my neck. I reached up to slap whatever is was away and succeeded in sending it down my shirt. It hit me 3 or 4 times going down my back before ending up going down my pants and hitting me a few times in the nether regions. When all was said and done, I ended up in right field, in front of hundreds of people standing in my BVDs and cleats!!! Dad will still tell you to this day he thought his son had finally lost it when he saw me running in circles shedding cloths as fast as I could. PS: Gee I'm glad our true identities are protected on the internet!
  20. Crossed a new geocaching milestone today: GCQ724!!! Yay for me!
  21. I actually get mine at the grocery store, Winn Dixie to be exact. Most grocery stores have a small auto section somewhere near the "if it aint on this isle...we ain't got it" aisle. Not sure why, but none of the Wally Worlds or Targets carry them around here???
  22. You can buy the laminating stuff at WalMart pretty cheap, not the melting machine kind, but a self adhesive type. If not, kinkos can be your friend. I personally print mine at home on photo paper then self laminate them using clear packing tape on the front and back. They don't get wet, but they do fade after a while
  23. just like tater chips aint it?
  24. Somebody grabbed it and moved it. To use it from now on, you'll need to find it and enter it's tracking number....sorry just couldn't resist when I found the TB Forum moved just like a TB.
