    Downtime

Ya, you really nailed that one alright. Too funny.
  2. I think that you can still purchase toy guns and knives.
  3. this is a feature i would like to be made easy by geocaching.com, instead of having to go through a few different links why cant it just be put on the left hand side menu???? YES VERY ANNOYING ESPECIALLY ON SPARE OF THE MOMENT TRIPS! spur
  4. God forbid that you make such a gigantic sacrifice for the benefit of your family who you know does not share your interest in geocaching. If someone's family actually "forbids" them from doing a reasonable amount of geocaching while on vacation and a geocacher who, when on a family vacation, cannot make reasonable accommodation for the wishes of his family, then you has gots yourself a family with waaaayyyy more deeply seated issues than finding a piece of tupperware in a bush.
  5. You don't need to be a superhero. You just need an incredible tolerance for monotony. Power Trail envy.
  6. Some of us are simply crazy and Power Trails are rather like a gauntlet which has been thrown down. Right on dude!! ;-)
  7. I was wondering the same thing Whatever happened to hiding caches in the woods, or at a beautiful or scenic spot? Parking garage. Sheesh. Yeah, I'm with you on that. I'd vote to remove and disallow future urban caches, especially nanos. Nothing quite like a good bus stop hide, what with the free sensory stimulation.
  8. Just make certain that you carry an epiPen while out in the wild, they're all the rage these days and every person who hikes or geocaches or does any thing where-in they might encounter life-threatening allergic reactions caused by insect bites, foods, medications, latex, and other dangerous stuff must absolutely carry one. BTW, does anyone happen to know what the 'shelf life' or in this case 'pack life' of one of those epiPens happens to be? Wouldn't want to be in a position where you needed one and the thing was past it's useful life...would you? Suppose you were desperate though, would there be a significant danger in using an epiPen that was out of date? How likely is it that the danger of great bodily harm from using an out of date epiPen might possibly be greater than the ill effects of doing nothing? Is the 'cure' worse than the 'disease' in such a case?
  9. "Hope that answers your question" I'm running the book on that. Current odds are 80-1 against and trending higher.
  10. Let's all pray that these 'land managers' never learn about 'Waymarking' to the extent that they have about virtual caches. You know, Waymarking.com, the site that is the effective replacement for virtual caches....and now possibly ALL caches.
  11. This is an excellent idea! Here's what I'd do: I'd take the container on a string down it's full length, drop it and get a coordinate reading. Then post those coordinates. I'd then post in the description that the cache container was attached to a fence post. For the one on a string in a small stream, I'd go ahead and let the current carry it down stream to it's full length. I'd then jump into the stream and when I reached the location for the cache container, I'd mark those coordinates as the location. Then in the description I'd note that the container is attached to a bridge. Geeze people, this stuff is not bicycle science, let's keep it as simple as possible, k?
  12. Even my college diploma is stamped and got stickers on it too. If my boss believe it, its good enough for geocaching logs. My passport has tons of stamps in it, as well as a few stickers. They are all legal. Wow, I have a passport too!! It has some stamps, but no stickers. I hope that that is good enough. The stamps in my passport look different than those that I have seen in geocache log books, this is a puzzlement. Passports are really cool, everbody ought to get one. If you can't afford one, let me know and for a small fee, I'll loan you mine.
  13. I have read that retina scans are somewhat better.
  14. Thanks for the report. Both you and Humboldt flier posted about how hard it was to do the trail. Let's put this in perspective. From another thread, I read that Humboldt flier found a bit over 500 caches in a couple of days. By contract, it took me about 23 months to find the my 500 most recent finds, and I suspect a considerably greater amount of effort, difficulty in finding the caches, long hikes, kayak trips, trudging through knee deep snow, and bumps and bruises acquired during the past 23 months than in the two days on the power trail. The fact, that 500 finds were crammed into two days (I don't know how many actual hours) was what made it hard. If you done the power trail but only tried to find 100 caches would you still have considered it *hard*? Does anyone else besides me find it kind of odd that in this thread, very few of those that have done the trail have provided any specifics on the number of finds, kinds of containers, how many hours searching, etc? For the previous threads on the Denver area PT, and the TotG, there were lots of "we set a new record with NNN finds in NN hours" claims, yet those details are almost non-existent in this thread. Yes, I have noticed that too. It probably isn't in their contract. That, or perhaps that we are starting too see groups of cachers doing power trails who fully understand and appreciate the fact that there are no found 'records' and God willing, there never will be. They probably find it to be a bunch of fun. I think that I would also. Does anyone know who holds the 'Most in One Hour' record? Six hours? 12, 18? How about 'Most in One day...driving a Buick'? Envy, a powerful and sad emotion.
  15. Though I'd prefer that virtual caches be restored, I must admit that I have wondered about that for quite some time. Good suggestion.
  16. To my knowledge there are no issues wrt gmail, hotmail or yahoo mail receiving the files from geocaching.com.
  17. So if you find a nano and leave your initials rather than your signature does that make it invalid? Yes, that makes it totally invalid. Even though you might use your own little hand and a writing instrument to scratch out your initials, it is not a signature and as such is totally invalid.
  18. I like virtuals and I would like to see new ones approved but I don't think it's going to happen. (Especially with the "very very hypocritical" approach. It doesn't help make your case, trust me.) And I also don't want to go back to what it was. You can point out the best to support them, but don't forget to point out the carp. So, what do we do? Improve Waymarking? edit: clarification No, you undo the mistake of stopping new virtual caches from being published.
  19. 'Interesting?'.....hardly. Bogus.....absolutely.
  20. You killed a poor defensless little yellow flower? I am horrified! I thought you were supposed take only pictures... ***This is a joke. Unless the lower is on the endangered list, then it is not a joke... I think that it is but you'll need to check the upper portion of the list.
  21. Obtain a travel bug tag. Affix it to said chicken. Register the travel bug on the site. Visit this site: http://www.geocaching.com/track/howto.aspx, it esplains everthing.
