  1. I thought 79,000 'finds' was a lot, but I have now been shown one with 218,864 'finds'. Needless to say, his stats are hidden from view.
  2. Okay, I get this team thing ... although I think they are stretching it way beyond what is reasonable. But there's another question. Forming teams to log finds in countries you have never even been to.
  3. Interesting ... I wish I could log that many caches in one day! Quite unbelievable - literally.
  4. Team DNF was clearly his generalisation. Username is BoydChicks.
  5. But I did report, they were not bothered.
  6. PS - I love the - 'Team DNF'.
  7. I received the usual - your cache has a new log email. It had a very detailed report :- Log: Headed to the High Desert with Team DNF to explore the CCC power trail and a few other local caches. It was a beautiful spring day. Caches are in good shape, roads and coords are good. We replaced a few that were likely gone with the wind. Flaglady and I had loads of laughs, just like the old days when she lived here. Thanks to mpark65 for coordinating our adventure. Thanks Lillme for adding lots of smileys [:D] to my day with your series. I appreciate your hard work in setting this up. He even mention my username in the log. When I checked the cache page ... there was no log which was kind of puzzling, so I did a bit of digging. I am in the UK, the logger was in California. On that very same day, he logged nearly 1000 finds, almost all in California. He has 79,000 plus 'finds', sometimes more than 2000 in a day and in nearly every country in the world. I reported the log to HQ but they are seemingly not interested. So, I messaged the logger. He replied - it was a mistake, now deleted. A very detailed log for a 'mistake'' He has been a member since 2005 but is quite clearly an armchair logger. Why do HQ not kick these people out?
  8. I didn't complete the form and left. Today, the same add is again on my Dashboard, and again, I won an iphone 12. Need to pay £1 in shipping fee. All very suspicious. If it's a scam, why hasn't Geo taken the advert down?
  9. A pop up on my geo home page has a competition. Tells me I have won an apple iphone but wants me to pay £1. Anyone know of this is genuine or a scam?
  10. Never needed any motivation. Discovered the hobby by pure chance, now I have to find an excuse not to go out. Family say, 'but you hate the cold', I do, it's true but I now happily freeze or get wet........ I must find it. Back out first time since 'lock down' today.
  11. Up until now I have been using a GPS only. Now considering using a mobile on 'pay as you go' contract with O2. Speaking roughly, how man Gig a month do I need if I am caching almost every day. Deals are - £10pm for 5gb £15pm for 20gb £20pm for 100gb I really have no idea how much I need.
  12. So far, as a relatively new cacher, I only have two complaints Anachronisms in 'clues' that I just don't understand and can't even find when I google them. This week one clue read, "CITO or maybe CIPO" now anyone tell me what the hell that meant? Then those cachers who can't be bothered to re-hide the cache as it was before they found it, I've seen that so often already. I only have seventeen of my own caches out, but I find weekly maintenance runs an absolute necessity. Oh sorry, I just thought of another............."took TB to move on" then they don't get to log the fact, so it shows as still in the cache when it's not. I only bought two TB's and already one has disappeared to who knows where, I won't bother with anymore.
  13. It's really nice as a 'Newbie' with my first ten CO caches placed out (some easy, some not-so) and then get two cachers do the circuit and crack them all. This was after several DNF's and I was getting worried that I'd made things too difficult, now I'm happy. I notice that my area did not get that many cache visitors but as soon as I added ten more, the interest goes up. Encourages me to add more and not too many micros! Already have a good turn-over in TB's
  14. Thank you Art, you were absolutely right. All solved.
  15. My Garmin Dakota 10 had a symbol showing North on the map display, this has disappeared and I cannot find how to re-instate. Any ideas please?
  16. Is there any way to edit a Forum posting. I foolishly put my phone number in, it's caused a problem
  17. Solved for now by deleting all of the foreign languages and some USA demos. Thanks for the help............
  18. When I try to download to GPX a cache from Geocaching, it warns me that I am full up. If I select 'Map' on Dakota, it only shows the last cache I was searching for. If I go in Setup and select maps, it shows Openfietsmap Lite - Enabled Worldwide Basemap - Disabled BirdsEye Select Kompass-Switzerland - Disabled BirdsEye Select Eire - Disabled Digital Globe - Disabled USGS Quads - Disabled BirdEye Select France - Disabled BirdsEye Select ko - Disabled
  19. Hi, We are new to this, only 27 found as of now. We bought a second hand Dakota 10, which works fine we think, takes us where we want to go. However the memory is completely full and we can't upload our next caches to look for, or anything else. It is not full of the previous owners pics, way points or searches. All are empty. However, the following Disc Image Files are all showing as 'Corrupted, cannot mount'. They are using up most of the memory. gmaptz (570 kb) -gmapsupp (16 kb) gmapsupp (636 Mb) gmapbmap (19 Mb) OSM Roadmap England (70 Mb) Question, can I delete these? Any help would be very much appreciated by two teenage girls struggling here. And why does it state Basic Member under our Avatar box. We're Premium as home page confirms.........................
  20. I have found a destroyed Cache, it has been logged as such twice but nothing appears to have been done about it. So where do I report it?
  21. Hi, Is this still available and how much would you be wanting. I am only at Long Stratton.
