  1. I'm another fan of the DeLorme products. It's fast, easy and extremely accurate - like scary accurate. My caching buddy has an OR300 and swears by it. It's a very nice unit but has its own quirks. They all do. Some people cache by compass (me) and some cache by map. Some folks will love DeLorme and other will love Garmin. More than anything, I think, it's about what you learned with and what you're used to.
  2. Wow...bummer. So did they change the output in some way that caused this? Should we be addressing this with DeLorme?
  3. Unfortunately I think this problem is occuring before we transfer to the unit. The raw GPX file seems to have fields in the wrong locations.
  4. Here's a sample of a new PQ I made yesterday that ran this AM. <wpt lat="33.206417" lon="-117.3481"> <time>2009-08-01T00:00:00</time> <name>GC1WNMC</name> <desc>Freddie Corvus by braceyourself, Traditional Cache (3/3)</desc>
  5. I had identical problems yesterday. Haven't checked the PQ I received this morning. DeLorme PN40 I tried running the PQ through GSAK, Topo8 and Cache Register with the same results. Ended up reverting to an old copy I had so I could cache last night.
  6. I was struggling with Topo 8 giving me fits on my GPX management and the GSAK software wasn't intuitive enough for me and frankly did lots of stuff I don't want or need. Saw a reference to Cache Register in another post and checked it out. Holy cow - it's perfect. Clean, easy and fast - just the way I like it. It's able to automatically grab my latest PQs and import them with no middleman downloading or mess. It can open a page with all my finds and let me knock out some descriptions easy as pie. This is what cache software should be like! Thanks DeLorme! Best $10 ever spent (on Geocaching).
  7. The PN40 is amazing and comparatively cheap. Got mine shipped for under $300. Pretty easy to use once you figure out pocket queries and importing caches into the unit. Easy peasy.
  8. I picked up the PN40 about two weeks ago and love it - especially the compass. It's my primary tool for less than 200'. When I get close to the cache I switch to compass view and it guides me home on the site. I fashioned my own tiny lanyard of nylon cord that is just long enough to clip a caribiner and clip it off to a belt loop when not in hand. Kind of like the Garmin Oregon has. Found it for $275 at JR.com and got it delivered in two days no problem.
  9. This is timely - I unwrapped my new PN40 today and my questions is after logging finds on the handheld how do I translate those back to geocaching.com? I was spoiled by the iPhone app for that...
