  1. I vote for GeekQualizer...He's the most humble, helpful, thoughtful, gracious, forum administrator on the planet. He contributed to a Houston Chronicle article that was very impressive and I judge he wouldn't have even mentioned it if we hadn't found out from the journalist. He's just a great guy, and always there to help. We love ya GQ....you're the BEST!
  2. It looks to me like the people that are complaining just really don't understand temporary and/or pocket caches and have never had the great joy in participating in them. Its too bad that you'll never get to see the value in them because they were great fun! You MISSED IT! I still say the caches brought to the event for temporary caches and/or pocket caches were deemed valuable enough by the owner to bring them and I had great fun finding their caches whether I just had to introduce myself and sign the log or plug in coordinates to go find the cache and then sign the log. For that I thank you! If I would have known about then, I have one I would have brought, of course now they'd be archived, which is sad. I hope the ones that have been archived are at least relisted whether anyone logs them from GW4 or not. Moosiegirl, I know who you're talking about and that person's caches and wouldn't THAT be horrible if they were archived, they're like a Geocaching legend!
  3. Caches are not just about a box in the woods, its about the people who place them. When I create a cache it comes from ME. So for the people who brought the temporary caches it came from their heart and they obviously wanted to have them for ice breakers or share unique containers. I think ARCHIVING the cache is uncalled for and unnecessary . Is Geocaching now a dictatorship? What a shame, I thought it was about people as well as the search. I would have collected the "smilies" but honestly, they don't really matter as much as I'm downright ANGRY at the caches being archived, that's REDICULOUS. And those of you who are so offended, I strongly encourage you to ask yourselves WHY, don't you think a cache is also about the people who place them, not just the box?
  4. I lost a Garmin Legend at GW4....if anyone finds it PLEASE email me at mamajeffus@yahoo.com. Thanks!
  5. I might need some help with the Friday night event I'm hosting. Ya gonna be there on Friday? I'll hafta rent a U-haul to get all the caches I'm giving away up there. (More than 100 regular caches containing over 10,000 micros.) FYI: I bought another GI-NORMOUS tent, (11x17) a 10x10 EZ-up, and a camp kitchen, to go along with Chateau d' Snoogans (15x15) and the 18X18 screen enclosure. I can let 6 to 8 people sleep in the extra tent and I might bring a few smaller ones too. I may get 2 spaces and offer to entertain some outta town campers that want to travel light. Maybe folks who fly in, but still want to camp to save $$$. Snooganssssssssssssssss.....helpppppppppppppppppp....Jeff and I are planning to go. I'm guessin we need to make ressy's now. But which campsite ya gonna be at? We have a Dodge Dakota with no kids, and can haul a buncha stuff up there. Tell me whatcha need and we'll help. BTW....its Jeff's B-Day weekend so I wanna do somethin for him up there. We have our own camping stuff....but would love to camp near ya. Lemme know so maybe we can work together on this thing! Theresa
  6. I've been lookin for this forum....I knew I read it somewhere!! A week ago last Saturday I broke my leg geocaching. I have hiking boots that have ankle support, but of couse, I wasn't wearting them. We were in the city (Houston) doing some not so dangerous caches (I've certainly done worse) but walking down this hill the dirt slipped out from under me and down I went. I didn't realize at the time it was broken. I'd never had a broken bone before. The Monday after I went to the docs...got xrays, and sure enuff its broken. . Funny enough, at first it was almost exhilarating to think that I, the always careful one, had broken a bone!! But now after wearing this purple cast for over a week, I'm sick of it. It hasn't stopped me though, since the fall I've gotten 5 caches including 1 FTF!! If I knew how I'd post a pic of me right after the fall and then one with the purple cast....but I don't, so you'll just have to trust me!!
  7. I think having in a central location (like Texas) would be a good idea because its easily accessible from both coasts. Its driveable as well as having a large HUB for airlines in Houston and in Dallas....(not actually sure about Dallas, but I know Houston is Continental HUB) And were there any California cachers that went to GW III?
  8. For Mothers Day you ask your family to buy you hiking boots and snake gaiters ...Which I did
  9. I have a friend in Los Angeles that will mail it to me if you'll get it to a cache. I'm in Houston....that far enough East?
