  1. Where is Hewick Meadows Park located? ie. Province? near or located in what town? Just so those that are from out of town and might be thinking about heading that way have a heads up? Thx!
  2. Most definitely keep your users informed. I worked for a local ISP and when we had issues, we (as phone support) were never told that issues were occurring. This would make us change a users settings trying to figure out what was going. We could spend an hour trying to figure the problem out for the user and make all kinds of unnecessary changes to a users system and many hours of frustration. When I knew there were issues, I would tell a customer that we were having difficulties and to try again in an hour. Most customers were ok with that and the frustration levels stayed sane! Also, the need for making changes on their end didn't happen and within that time frame everything was normally A-ok and working fine again. So keep your customers informed, take everything they say with a grain of salt but at the same time realize that just because you have heard it 50 times, doesn't mean that you aren't going to hear it 500 more. Work with everyone and keep them informed and your feedback will be much more positive in the long run!
  3. Sounds like a daunting task. Good luck to all of you and I am sure that everyone is looking forward to a more reliable system.
  4. I was just thinking the same thing. It is a big smiley grey scale image if you haven't uploaded a profile pic. That makes sense because all I see is my pic!
  5. Good to know that one. Thanks for the reply back with that info.
  6. It's all good now. Someone must have made and OPPPS and fixed it very quickly!
  7. Yup. Me too! This forum seems really slow also!
  8. I have found that at times the PQ's take some time to run. Anywhere from 2 hours to a full day. I am not sure if TPTB have changed the queuing sequence on the server since this started happening around the same time as the last round of site updates.
  9. I just looked at your profile and it says 873 like you quoted. 873 in your FindStats. 873 under your found geocaches on your profile. 873 on your last post of the last find you had. If you are talking about the stats bar only showing 872? Sometimes you have to give that a few minutes to update. If it doesn't update, since it is a generated image, hold down the shift key and click refresh on the browser page to reload the image. Does that help?
  10. Yes you can. Once you create the Pocket Query with your route, make sure you don't click the option to delete after run. Make sure you create a name that you will remember the PQ Route by. Go to your Pocket Query page and in your list of PQ's, hover over the icon that looks like a map with a magnifying glass. Click that and you will see your route and caches along the route.
  11. Created one and ran it last week. Server was slow delivering it (about 2 hours later it came in my email) but it worked. Unclear if this is a question or a statement?
  12. Been waiting for some contests as I always seem to just miss them. TFTContest. 17 35 7 11 51 I loved monopoly as a kid!
  13. Looks to me like the BookMark lists are pushing the additional hints lower. The Right hand table cell holds the info from Navigation to Bookmarks. That cell and the cache Description cell are in the same row. So having a short description with Book mark list gives the appearance of white space below description. Long description with no book mark list gives appearance of white space on right side below Inventory. From a design point of view this can be tricky as not every cache page will have the same attributes to it. Trying to ensure that the click-able Google map inserted to the right of FIND doesn't overlap or is overlapped by text could be tricky. One small fix for the white space below the cache description may be to move the additional hints up one cell. But still if large bookmark list in present, white space will still appear. Especially if cache description is very short. I wonder if floating div tags have been tried to design the layout of cache pages? If so, were issues found with creating a seamless css page? I haven't dug too deeply into the html of the cache pages, but these are my quick observations on the problem that you are seeing.
  14. I almost wonder if someone had it on a list of coins that they had and was showing off the coins, gave them a list to discover the coins but somehow had your coin number listed. They are all from Germany. I assume you are talking about the Signal Geocoin?

    Im scared

Warm weather or not. When the bug bites you, you will be going out in all kinds of weather, if you can. My son is 7 and his eyes light up just about every find. STILL!! This weekend he climbed a tree to grab a cache before I could get my back pack off. The longer hikes are a little tedious for him until we start to find other interesting things on our venture. I try to spot things to show him. It keeps his interest up and I don't continually hear " Can we go back to the van now?" My 13 year old daughter. She doesn't like the cold weather hiking. We are in Southern Ontario by the way and it can be cold at times. But if I pick some drive bys, she doesn't mind getting out to grab them. But then again, she says she doesn't like the cold and then grabs a drive by without putting her coat on! LOL! Congrats on your first find. I hope it is only one of many! The more you get into this, the more you are going to find fun and interesting places that you may not have known existed. I just noticed you haven't logged your find. Don't forget to log it to get your smiley face on the GC.com site!
  16. If I go into the gallery for that page then click on an image, I don't see the image at all beside the log.
  17. Problem was noted earlier. Problem with HTMLtidy.
  18. I think we are seeing something common. This applied to the one that gave me trouble as well. Wonder if this is a browser cache problem? Can you delete your Browser cache and see what happens?
  19. onclick javascript must have broke. If you zoom in or out after clicking on those options, it does change. Or click check for a cache type and then check mark back in. My maps aren't loading at all... (Firefox 3.5.7) Go to the map that isn't loading, in windows hold the shift key and then F5. That will cause your internet cache to totally reload the page and the scripts. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it...still not loading. The little arrows just circle round and round with no change. Try deleting the browser cache. Make sure you aren't on the map page when you do it. I had the same problem, but renewing my cache fixed the problem. Using Firefox also.

  21. Looks like a change in Cascading style sheets that the script was utilizing. It should be a simple fix for FindStats to add the correct css. Tables aren't bordered anymore. In most of the site. Will be a simple fix with a css tag. Can't really blame GS for that one. It is THEIR code. Not FindStats (GSAK). But I know what you mean.

  23. When going to Your Friends link, most of the friends show wrong hide counts. http://www.geocaching.com/my/myfriends.aspx Is this the right place to post bugs?
  24. As long as it doesn't harm the tree you are ok. I don't like to see wire wrapped around the branch, because the branch will grow around it. Using part of a coat hanger works, just bend it like an ornament hook so it comes off easily and allows the tree to grow without encasing the wire. Plus coat hanger wire doesn't bend as easy and someone won't pull the hook out of the wire as easily. Hate micro's also, but I sure love hiding them! LOL!
  25. Thanks Hiker T! Glad you are still watching this thread. I would think that a few of the best locations to start would be Port Dover, Turkey Point or Port Rowan. Port Dover would probably be one of the better spots to start for parking. Although Turkey Point looks like it is probably better for being in the inner bay. Less waves.
