  1. Can you describe how you load caches onto the 1490LMT? Does it load descriptions / hints as well, and how many can you load? Thanks! I use the Nuvi as you said, load caches as favorites, no descriptions or hints. I use the nuvi just for driving close to the cache and use a handheld to find the cache. The new software that Garmin is using makes loading the caches hard and they don't show up on the screen as large treasure boxes, rather very small squares that can only be seen if you're zoomed way in on the screen. It makes it very hard to see other caches that may be close by. The 1490 uses the older software.
  2. We've been using a 1490LMT for 6 months or so and love it! It loads the caches easily and I can delete them easily. I bought a 2595LMT, but returned it because it was too much trouble with the new software garmin is using.
  3. Thanks for the reply. I must admit I was slightly disappointed but we think we have found a way tonight to transfer the caches via a GSAK macro. They are on there in a folder showing the cache names rather than the GC number which helps a lot. I don't know yet whether they will show up on the map as I haven't tested it yet. Not keen on returning it as it does have lifetime maps and traffic which is more useful. We do have the Oregons as well so only need them to navigate to while driving ie cache and dashes. But unless I can find the perfect solution, it will work by selecting from the folder. Thanks again. The 1490LMT has lifetime maps & traffic and was $ 100.00 less than the 2595LMT and I didn't have to change a thing to load caches. Plus, they show up as big treasure boxes on the map, right out of the box.
  4. Yep, I did the same thing. The problem wasn't getting the caches into the unit, it was seeing them on the map as I was driving along.
  5. Hi, I bought a Nuvi 2595LMT as well, and had much the same problems as you are having. I ended up taking it back and getting a 1490LMT. The problem seems to be that Garmin changed the software on these new models and it isn't too friendly with GSAK. I'm sure in time Clyde will address these issues in the future sometime, but I needed to use the Nuvi right away. The caches may show up as tiny black squares if you zoom way in on the maps. I wanted to see all the caches in the area easily while driving. I'm happy with the 1490lmt.
  6. Take a look at this one: The Middle of the Road GC157CR It was fun!
  7. The way I load caches into the Nuvi. I export a GPX file from GSAK to my desktop, and drag it into the file GPX on the Nuvi.
  8. I just updated to a 62s and wanted just topos on it as we're off road alot. I bought a Nuvi 1300 for 89.00 out the door. So far, its working great! Have Fun!
  9. I use the bluetooth to hotsync. This is the only work around I could find.
  10. The best series that we've done lately is "The Peace Sign Series" up in Washington State. It was put out in conjunction with Geowoodstock VIII. Its a series of 43 Puzzles that when finished is a large Peace Sign of smileys in Lake Washington. Fun!
  11. Any chance of a polo shirt with the logo embroidered over right breast? I'd be there so fast there'd be scorch marks on the money. Or a t-shirt with a pocket and the logo above it
  12. I use a small multi-tool plus one of these!
  13. We use a hiking pole or a stick to poke around before we put our hands anywhere near places like you've described. We have snakes around here to worry about.
  14. We're working on this one. GC1M698 Its in No. Calif. and we're in Nevada, but when we travel to the area, we try to find a cache of retiredprof's in a county we need for this challenge.
  15. Hi, I've used shop for swag several times and find they have a good assortment there. Check them out at: http://www.shop4swag.com/catalog/
  16. We've stopped here several times to eat, we've even found this cache! Food is very good and a great place to stop.
  17. That is too bad. We are working on Nevada's DeLorme Challenge (only 11 pages left!) and the Cache Owner, Skwerl, couldn't be more helpful. It makes it a lot easier to be able to get your questions answered quickly.
  18. You might try sending the question to the cache owner, I would think that he would have already checked this out.
  19. Also, on GSAK there's a column that you can write notes. You can also change co-ordinates in GSAK and then lock it so future downloads won't change them. The PDA is a great option as well and you can write notes on the cache pages in cachemate.
  20. The last ones we got were from Costco. Not L&L brand, but still seem just as good.
  21. Anybody know of a tool that will find the centroid of a triangle? Using co-ordinates.
  22. Yep, ordered one today, should be here in no time!
