  1. What about removing GCJVQM, GCMWH9 & GCPGJX, they have been disabled.
  2. I'll go! No wait I already did it! My Log Don't forget TWO treking poles or eqivalent. If you find my broken one on the island and the current is not to bad would you mind trashing it out. I had enough to worry about at the time and didn't want to add more problems to my already bad situation.
  3. I wonder how the got the pool heater all the way over to Melmont.
  4. See you there. I know it's late but you may want to get in touch with Leann as she is coming down also.
  5. We should be heading through Buckley between 0815 & 0830. Let me know. I will check my email & forum just before I leave (about 0700) Jeff-
  6. I'll try and sent you a text file of the route to plug into GSAK when I get home.
  7. South on Hwy 167 to hwy 410, east on 410 to Buckley then south on hwy 165 to Mowich Lake Road then Mowich Lake Road to Mowich Lake/trail head.
  8. I figure that it will be at least 8-9 hours P-n-R to P-n-R if we stick to the main objectives listed earlier in the thread. Straight driving time is about 3 hours and about 10 miles worth of walking + finding caches, sight seeing & lunch could easily be 5-6 hours maybe a little less or a little more. But if we decide to do a few more caches that are in the area or along the route that could add attitional time too. If you have time constraints just let me know and we can adjust accordingly. One other that I would really like to do on the way back is The Battle of Connells Prairie but that should be a quick park and grab and is not too far off the main hwy.
  9. I suppose you're going to make us come and pick them up.
  10. LB, See you Saturday @ 0730.
  11. I used to dream about getting 16 MPG. My Landrover averages about 13 down hill, about 12 for everyday driving.
  12. My opinion is the earlier the better but since you have to make the longer drive to meet up I will let you tell me what time is good for you. I figure it will take 1 to 1.5 hours to get to the trail head from the P-n-R Coordinates for the P-n-R are N 47.18.135, W122.15.460
  13. No cliffs I promise, there should be no need for any off roading . I was thinking Saturday morning trying hit the road to Mowich Lake by 0800 but that is not set in stone if you wnat to meet up a little later or earlier that would be fine also. We could meet up some where in the Auburn Valley, there is a small P-n-R at Hwy 18 & Hwy 167. Let me know I'm flexible.

    Nw Snakes

The only snakes I have seen in the wilds of W.Washington in my 40+ yrs here have been garter snakes, black with either yellow or red horizontal stripes. I beleive I have seen them with green & blue stripes also but that has been many years ago. Try to convince T2A that the brown one was a stick. Garter Snake
  15. Hey who hijacked my thread???? Well I'm still looking for company for my hike to Tolmie Peak. I'll take a shower before going, I promise. I placed a cache on top of a 1600' hill this weekend while visiting the in-laws in Ryderwood. I was suprised how well I did on the 4.5 mile 1300' elevation gain (one way) on this one. So Tolmie Peak should not be as bad as I was anticipating.
  16. Okay I lied it's not a 700' elevation gain it's 1000'. Here are a couple of links. Tolmie Peak Trail SummitPost.org
  17. Here is a link to an article in the PI's Hike of the Week series. Kendall Katwalk
  18. Hey LB, You missed a nice drive to Tronson Ridge Saturday. LR - I think a 7.2 mile RT is a little beyond us at this time, bummer I would have loved to tag along. Rec Hey Ed, How are your scrapes and bruises coming along? Hope they wern't too bad and they're getting better real quick. Depending on elevation change Tolmie Peak could be on the edge of my comfort range but that's the way I like it. The week before the campout we did the Iron Hores along the west side of Keechelus Lake and that 7 miles was a breeze, but back in May when we did the Boulder River I was really pushing it near the end with all of the elevation change on that one.
  19. The goal for the day is Tolmie Peak but there are several others in the area depending on time restraints. Three others that are high on the list are Melmont, Is Anybody Home? and Carabiner Camp Out . Melmont is an abandoned mining town which sounds like a lot of fun. I too have the Lime Kiln series on my list but the north side of Mt. Rainer is a closer to home. Also on my list to do is the Monte Cristo caches but they are farther north than I want to go right now with the upcoming cache machine and going to Wenatchee this past week end. Peek-a-Boo is also on the list but I have a feeling after a 7 mile hike plus what ever other caches are done I will be too tired to even think about it.
  20. I use the GPS 18 for navigation w/ my laptop and it's reception way outperforms my 60CS, even w/an external antenna. About the only time I lose reception w/ the 18 is when traveling throug a tunnel. The 60CS will loose reception while traveling back roads w/heavy tree cover where the 18 will not. When I bought my 18 it came with City Select and two unlock codes one already assigned to the 18 and the other I used for my 60CS. I think I paid $120 for the 18 & City Select bundle which is about $30 cheaper than just buying City Select by itself.

    Tomie Peak

I have been thinking about doing hiking to Tolmie Peak Labor Day weekend and was wondering if anyone wanted to do it also. It is about a 7 mile RT hike with what appears to be about a 700' elevation gain.
  22. This may be something to think for Saturday during the Campout or Sunday as we are heading out. If gets as hot as the forcast is suggesting, 95 on Saturday & 99 on Sunday, many of us wetsiders may be melting and a dip in the river will do us some good. Don't even try it unless you have a better spot to cross than just below the island or a death wish. I did it this afternoon and it was one of the dumbest thigs I have ever done and that's saying a lot.
  23. Okay that's it I ain't goin. How ya gonna keep the wild animals away without a big fire? You could just have T2A give them the look.
