  1. But yet you dont have a problem taking a ammo box "dump" on top of a geological formation .
  2. If the vacation rule does take effect, how would it work for someone like me? Im constantly moving. My home is Illinois, Washington, Kentucky, Colorado, and I'm still a resident of Alaska. Will I have to prove my where abouts with a electric bill at the time of submittal . Hopefully the vacation rule will be dropped for ECs.
  3. Check this one out http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...81-34fbf88950d5 We won't get into coprolites
  4. Thanks! We are going there this weekend to do some rappelling . What's stopping you? It's even in KY. Looks great
  5. Ditto. I do a lot of traveling with my job and I find many EC locations when I'm out on my travels. I sure hope it doesn't come to point that I can't list EC locations while in a location I don't live in . And the proximity rule? Often there are places that have several geological features within a 100 foot radius. I have sevarel EC locations that have 3 listings very close to each other. This is what makes ErathCaching fun . And despite all of that has happened in the past, I hope Geoaware has final say so on the rules for EarthCaching .
  6. Coin looks nice . I will pass on the bear theme this year . Looking forward too seeing some of the other animals Alaska has on future AK coins .
  7. Its listed as a EarthCache now . http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0f-5d8e465b39c9 What's stopping you? It's even in KY.
  8. Thats interesting. Clay County is a beautiful place. Are you worried about caching there because of what happened to the census guy? Have you even been there?
  9. I dissagree with some of these qoutes. My local reveiwer will not and has not approved any of my traditional cache requests for over "ONE YEAR" due to personnal differences. All of my requets are now forwarded to Groundspeak. I now wonder how long I will have to wait before I can get a cache apporved just like everyone else. You can expect that if your cache clearly conforms to the guidelines it will be published without issue. If there are grey areas, or appearances of conflicts with the guidelines, then there may be some back and forth between you and the reviewer to make it publishable. Bottom line is that reviewers are geocachers. They want to publish caches. More for them to find. Nothing could be further from the truth. [There is plenty of good information here and most threads are controversy free, but every once in a while a hot button topic comes up and the discussion gets spirited. So visit if you like, post if you feel inclined, but don't let anything you see here turn you off about geocaching in general.
  10. This one http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5f-95b8cab3541b
  11. Cached in that area. Missoula has some nice geocaches.
  12. Done all of that except the last one. It was the best experience of my life especially the drive along hwy 101 all the way to CA from WA .
  13. Heres some of the EarthCaches I own that have unique names, Big "ASH" Bigfoot (GC1VKHG) Poop Creek (Turtlesaur Coprolite?) (GC1VJ26) Big Bone Lick Spring (GC1FDY9) Laural Cave "One Easy EC" (GC1EZEC) Look at the GC number
  14. Seeing how you live close to Fort Lewis I would like to know if you ever tried placing a cache on that military post. I was there this year and did not see any on Lewis. Have you ever tried before? And again, this blurb from the guidelines slipped throught the bolding There may be some exceptions. If your cache fits within one of the above areas, please explain this in a note to the reviewer. If you are given permission to place a cache on private property, indicate this on the cache page for the benefit of both the reviewer and people seeking out the cache. It seems evident to me anyway, that: 1) Caches on or near bases are allowed. After all they exsist. 2) If the manager of the property ( the Commanding Officer in this case) says yes, then the cache should be approved. Talk to MWR, or, if you can, the Commander. The worst they can say is no. **edit--screwed up some coding**
  15. Its a shame the EC owner doesnt include some photos with the write up. Its such a great place and I think photos would bring in more finders.
  16. I've decided to write it up as an earthcache. I'm currently collecting more information and plan on doing one more rappel into the cave for more pictures and exploring. What's stopping you? It's even in KY.
  17. Maybe with more EarthCache coins going into circulation Groundspeak will eventually allow TBs and geocoins to be logged in with present and future ECs . I dont see why they can't allow something like this to happen .
  18. Again?! Its very obvious that leprechauns does not like EarthCaching. I suggest we ignore the negative posts and keep on topic. Educate the Ohio parks and get those traditional caches back in place. Thanks!
  19. My local reviewer here in Kentucky won't publish any of my traditional cache hides. I have to get my approved by Groundspeak. This has been going on for a year now.
  20. That's incorrect, there was a planned and official EarthCache Day 2009 at Cumberland Gap National Historic park. It was a success and everyone had fun. There will be a 3rd Annual event as well for the Ky, Tn, and Va cachers in 2010. This is what the Army calls "picking up the ball and running" type of event. We made it happned and it was fun.
  21. Any luck with your new EC idea? I've noticed its taking over a month to get earthcaches approved, so be patient
