I had a bad experience last year with a approver in WA. I made the mistake of saying what was on my mind (no profanity) and found myself being punished by a few Pre Madonna cache approvers and not having my cache approved (it was eventually approved a few weeks later). I was also threatened with having my memebrship deleted (by a certain geocacher, the person who invented the wheel). I have since then been labeled as a liar and untrustworhty. I now try to keep my mouth shut even when I get taunted with emails from the cache approver. Gotta love those guys! However there are many good approvers in other states.

I'm looking for a KY, PA, and a Missouri geocoin.

Actually Moun10Bike was trying to stir things up and twist my words around. He wanted to make things go his way. He managed to ruin what my thread was all about and that was about my geocoin. My thread was not intended for someone to complain because they could not get one of my coins. Its intended to see what folks think about my coin and make some trades. It was never about some trade that happened months ago or even before my coin was made or was it intended for a bunch of name calling and claims that I stole ideas. Yes I did call my wooden nickle a coin but so does about a thousand other cachers new to the sport. I can't claim that I am perfect in anyway shape or form but I am good to my friends and curtious to those who are curtious to me... Jon (last name removed by admin) contacted me first. This was even before I knew who the guy was. Had I known I was going to go through all of the bad things that I did when I voiced my opion about the advice he gave me then I would of reconsidered replying to his email. I pay for this service and feel I should not be punished when ever Jon (last name removed by admin) gets mad at me. I know first hand about this because I had a very hard time with starting some caches in WA after I complained about how long it took. I think I will go through this same thing again when I attempt to start another cache. Time will tell... My deployment to Iraq and orders to AK to stand up and start a new Cavalry troop can he hard for people who have never been in the Military to fully understand. I can see why Jon and Team Misguided would call me a liar to me and my friends. But you have to remember there is a WAR going on and things do change fast for the Army. What I do with my life is my bussiness and not some cache reviewer. I'm keeping the coins I found and thats that. I could care less with what happens to my trade that went to Jon. Its his to do with what ever he wants... I could care less about what his friends have to say and what I should do with my coins. Yes I did promise Jon my coin in a trade. But However when I started to get emails from Team Misguided about me leaving again for AK I reconsidered the trade and felt I was taken advantage of. I sent back the items Jon sent me for my coin. Yes I still have alll of the nasty emails that went back and forth and I can quote some of the things Jon promised me too but I'm not about to go on any more with this. You have to remember we will all cross paths again at some time, be it a cache machine event or while we are hiking and looking for a new cache. Washington is my home too and we will all have to get along in the end. Lets end this stupid bickering and get on with our lives and make this a positive thing and that is geocaching. Call me the used cars saleman if you like but remember I'm the used cars sale man that will tell you no. This thread is closed... "Jon walked away with the better deal" was your quote above. I have not made anything up - I've always quoted directly from emails you sent to me and messages you've posted here. I've merely pointed out the lies and contradictions - the content is your responsibility alone. When you said you would send me two of your coins, along with the quote "my word is my bond", I trusted you to do that. Instead, I see that you were merely stringing me along to get what you wanted out of me. It's clear that you never had any intention of honoring that pledge, and for that I'm sad - sad that you would act that way, and sad that I fell for it after you had already displayed your character in your initial dealings with me as an admin You are right about one thing though - this is foolishness. It's not accomplishing anything but to irritate those who come to these forums to talk about geocaching. I'm done. Thank you.

Jon, Please stop twisting words and making things up. Please stop making people believe you gave me your geocoin in trade for one of my geocoins. Please stop making people believe I have something that belongs to you. I gave away the coin you gave me in our first trade. I felt I had a good trade and I never said it was unfair. You said the trade was unfair... I was just offended that you called my things I gave you in trade "junk" or something similar to the fact. My military coins are hard earned and have much more meaning than a geocoin. some Soldiers in Iraq are getting those coins when they are wounded. When was the last time you ever heard of anyone having to be wounded in combat to get a geocoin. A geocoin is found in cache and does not require being shot at to find one. Is it not true that you got the idea for your geocoin from the Military challenege coins? You can say all you want about my geocoin. You can say I stole other pictures and ideas and you can say I took the round design from you. Did you steal the mountain bike name from Gary Fisher? He was the guy who basically invented the mountain bike back in the 70's. A true mountain biker would know this. And the saying on the back of your coin, who's name is that? Most cachers who have thier own geocoins have some design that they have either copied or got a idea from. I like crows and ravens. So what? Did I steal the crossed sabers too? Those have been around as long as the Cavalry had horses. You can pick and pull quotes from this message all you want but I ask again please stop all of this foolishness. Its starting to look like you are upset because you don't have one of my coins and I think you are better than that. I am keeping the M10B coins I found in the two caches. They were left there for the next finder. One coin will go to Iraq and the other will stay in my collection. However the coin going to Iraq was intended for a cache hide that I planned on creating and one you offered your help with. For some reason now I think I won't get any help from anyone or be able to start any cache from now on. Lets keep this forum focused on the title and not make it a way to vent your anger.

Actually I don't. I've been trying to find out from you through numerous emails and have not gotten a straight answer. Once you said you didn't have my address; once you said that you thought I had lost interest (because it took me three days to respond to one of your emails over a weekend during which my son was sick); lately you say it is because you have received emails from Team Misguided questioning you on your lies about moving to Alaska (guess what - I am not Team Misguided). Which is it? Yes, you are correct that I didn't mention *all* of the trading that took place at Gig Harbor - I focused on the "heart of the deal" and didn't bother to mention my wooden nickels that I also gave you and the other cheap items you had picked up from others and gave me. I guess I don't appreciate the value of those things, as I told you I wasn't interested in them. If I have undersold them, then I apologize. However, I'll leave it to those who witnessed our trade that night to decide for themselves who got the better end of the deal; I bet you'd be hard-pressed to find many who agree with your take on it. However, I finally lost patience with being lied to and jerked around in private communications, and thought others should be warned about dealing with this individual. Even though my crows are similar to the ravens from Ravenswood Winery my crows are short and thicker than their design and the eyes are colored. The three crows in a circle is a old celtic design.

Hello all, This will be the last that I will mention anything about all of this... I love you all Cache on.

I, on the other hand, arrived home last night to find a package from Roy containing only the Idaho geocoin and pin I had mailed him. Why no Cav Scout geocoin? Apparently he said he had packaged all of them up in preparation for leaving for Iraq, and would not be able to trade with me. Funny, but just two days prior he was soliciting trades in the forums. But, things change quickly in the military, I guess, huh? I figure that I just must not deserve a Cav Scout coin. After all, I only traded one of my Moun10Bike coins for his first geocoins. You know those, right? The kind of geocoins that everyone else calls "wooden nickels"? I chalked it up to his inexperience in not knowing what a geocoin was, and didn't back out of our deal. Heck, I even threw in a Western Tennessee geocoin and a Washington geocoin as a sign of goodwill. I wanted to be gracious and also try to mend fences with him. You see, Roy and I had had a troubled start to our friendship. He had flamed Team Misguided for not responding fast enough on a cache approval and then requested archival of his own cache, saying he didn't have time to get it approved before he moved to Alaska. As an admin, I archived the cache as requested, saying that with an upcoming move, placing caches here was not probably not a good idea. After that, Roy proceeded to flame me as well and taunt me in his profile, but I guess I deserved that. Especially after I initially refused to post his next cache submission, also in Washington. I did my job and questioned his ability to maintain the cache if he was moving. He was in the military, he said, and orders change quickly. I should have known - I'm so dumb! After meeting in person and burying the hatchet with our lopsided trade, I thought things were pretty good with ol' Roy and me. Sure enough, he did end up moving to Alaska soon after, but gosh darn it, what's a guy gotta do to get a cache approved around here? Besides, it's not lying if no one who matters knows, right? Roy had by now developed a healthy love for geocoins - I like to think my donation helped him kick start his burgeoning collection. Next thing you know, Roy is creating his own geocoin! All right! Another member of the club! Will he be trading them? Yep, and one has my name on it! Cool! Roy shows me the artist's rendition of his coin. Very nice! Half of it looks strikingly familiar to me. Hmm, so does the other half. Where have I seen that before? Anyway...whoops, a bit of an error on the quote there! Roy thanks me for catching the misquote just moments before it goes to the mint. Whew! Later, someone catches the same error in the forums, but of course no mention is made that I saved him from buying a bunch of buggy coins. Not that I expected him to - just a friend helping out a friend, right Roy? A couple of weeks later, Roy asks if I have any of my version 1 geocoins that I can send him. "Sorry," I say, "only #001, which is not for trade as you might expect." He tells me that that's no problem, he will still be sending me two of his coins - one to keep and one to put in a cache in Washington. "My word is my bond," he says. What an honorable guy! I just get chills reading that quote from him! Soon Roy's coins are in. Yahoo! Can't wait to see one in person! Funny, but people are receiving them left and right, and I haven't gotten one yet. No problem, I'm sure mine's coming. Roy emails and asks if he can have one of the Idaho geocoins and one of the upcoming 2005 Washington coins. "No problem!" I say. "Anything for a buddy!" "Hey, how about one of those new signature pins, too?" "You bet, Roy!" I wasn't able to receive my coins until Easter, but after getting them I mail Roy to confirm that I still have his current address. I do, so I send off the geocoin and pin. And wait some more. "Did you get the Idaho coin?" I ask. "Haven't had a chance to get to the post office," he replies. Well, I'm sure it will be any day now. And that brings me to yesterday. At least I got the Idaho coin and pin back. I suppose he could have kept those, but being the honorable guy he is he sent them back. That's nice, because while a Moun10Bike geocoin, WTN geocoin and Washington geocoin for a Cav Scout wooden nickel is a fair trade, throwing an Idaho coin and Moun10Bike pin in as well would be a little over the top, don't you think? So, there you have it. Silly Moun10Bike, haven't you ever heard the old saying, "don't take any wooden nickels"? I should have known - I'm so dumb! Yep, I sure wish I had more friends like Roy! Is it me or are some people sore when ever they don't get their way? Funny that M10bike never mentions the two hard earned Military coins that I gave him for his own geocoin. Which of course are earned for honorable military actions. He also picked through my geo items I found in the states last Summer and took some of my nicer things. The Western TN coin "fairly common" and who does not already have a WA coin. So what... The only thing I got that was decent was his coin and I've already found two of those coins in caches. Jon walked away with the better deal. I made it clear that my coins were wooden nickles in the first place. I never shown anyone my design for my own geocoin. I drew the design in NM. Where where you at when I did the drawing? Was you there with me on the border of Mexico. I don't recall you being there because I only noticed Men working with me... However, Jon traded with me because I think he was afraid of meeting me and did not know how I would react with all of what happened earlier. M10bike said, and I qoute " I thought you wanted to kill me" That made me think he did the trade only bcause he was scared of conflict. Bottom line is you will not get one of my coins and you know why.I never thought you would stoop this low and post your anger on a forum. Thank you for being the mature adult that you are.

I have some of my own Cav Scout geocoins that I am trading for other personal geocoins.

I'll do a trade with you when ever you get your coins.

I have a few coins for trade, ie, OR, WA, CA, Canada, Idaho (with no name on it).

Is that a lot of cachers are kids at heart or age? Most of the cachers I see are older than me and I'm close to 40...

Temptation and greed (genetic memory) is reallity in most cases. It's human nature in reference to the hunter gatherer. I say most cachers are good honest people. However when some people(who have nothing to trade) open a cache and find a sparkling new geocoin or a brand new item of some sort they tend to take that item and leave "nothing" or place what ever they have in the back seat of their car or in their pocket in the cache, ie., a pencil, piece of gum, tape measure... This is what I have experienced with caches.

Keep it simple...

Personal signature geo items are the way to go.
